Mission: The association of biomolecular resource facilities (abrf) is an international scientific society dedicated to advancing technologies, education and communication and reproducible research in operations of shared scientific resources.
Programs: Conferences - the purpose of conferences is to expose members to new and emerging biotechnology through plenary lectures, roundtables, research group presentations, poster sessions, workshops, technical exhibits, and networking opportunities with academic, industry, and exhibitor colleagues. The abrf 2017 annual meeting, was held march 25-28, 2017 in san diego. The annual meeting focused on the collaboration between disciplines to enhance problem solving in biomedical research.
abrf chapters - abrf chapters facilitate exchange of information and expertise that helps support and advance abrf members' careers and professional development. They foster connections that enable abrf members and non-members to discuss and address the continuing challenges associated with the operation of shared research resources and technologies. Abrf chapters help communicate to the eb the needs of the abrf members related to shared research resources and provide a conduit for communicating both the activities and the value of the abrf to a broad range of core facilities and biotechnology laboratories and to current and potential future members of the abrf. Abrf chapters engage in a variety of activities including hosting regional conferences and workshops, web-based conferences, development of chapter websites and electronic discussion blogs, as well as participate in the annual abrf conference. Chapter activities and events serve to educate, inform, and support the advancement of its members. Chapter activities are expected to be conducted in coordination with the abrf and be consistent with its goals.
communications & publications - abrf facilitates transfer of knowledge on biomolecular technologies and approaches through various communication platforms, including abrf discussion forums, the journal of biomolecular techniques ("jbt"), an online blog, and a news & announcements resource on our website. Jbt is a peer-reviewed online-only publication issued five times per year. Jbt was established to promote the central role biotechnology plays in contemporary research activities, to disseminate information among biomolecular resource facilities, and to communicate the biotechnology research conducted by the association's research groups and members, as well as other investigators.
