The Colonial Theatre is the centerpiece of Phoenixville! My husband and I are proud to be members supporting this vibrant organization. It's not just a movie theater! Live performances, children's programs, special events such as Oscar Night and the Blob Fest draw crowds of all ages and interests. Having the Colonial as a magnet draws people to the other fine shopping, dining and cultural attractions of our town. Mary Foote and her staff are so creative in making the vision come alive, and support and participate in the life of the community.
I've been a member for one year now, and it's been a great experience. A varied selection of movies, both old and new, fun events (Rocky Horror Picture Show was a blast), and pleasant staff. The restoration of the theater's organ is a very worthwhile endeavor. Definitely an organization to support.
See films and shows you don't see on every corner of every other town, and see them in a beautiful, historic theater! Who could ask for anything better? The colonial has been showing some of the best in film for years. I am a member, and have volunteered there, as well as having been on stage, and I can say I have enjoyed every aspect of this theater, and will support it as much as I can.
This theater is living history, and I love what entertainment they provide.
One of the most stirring times I spent there was with my close friend. We went to see "The Pianist". I don't think I ever saw him as riveted to the screen as he was then. We were so moved, we spoke about the film and the Holocaust for days. We learned a lot historically, and about each other as well.
The Colonial Theatre is simply an amazing venue! Kudos go to the Association members and donors who have worked tirelessly and given generously! I have attended many movie screenings, concerts, and children's events ~ and with each visit I am even more a fan! The programming that is presented is diverse and multi-generational. While much has been done with regard to building renovations, there is still much more to be done to preserve this gem...
This theatre was closed for many years. I had always one day wanted to purchase this theatre and bring it back to life. Apparently I was not the only one who had dreams for this theatre. The life that has been brought back into this theatre has really branched out into the community and they are constantly trying new things and reaching all the many sectors of the community which is hard to do. I think all who work and contribute to this orginization are truly great and hope that they continue.
