assistance league of the Bay Area has many facets. We have a program called school bell where we clothe children from 7 school districts in NEW clothes, everything from shirts, pants, undergarments to shoes and socks. We provide hygiene kits too. Our second program is Project Cinderella where we provide formals, shoes. Purses and jewelry to teen women and suits for the men including shirts socks, shoes and a tie . Our third project is Ready for Work where we help men and women dress for an interview to re-enter the workforce. In some cases if we do not have the correct clothes for the particular job, we purchase them. We provide food to school districts where the students need extra nourishment for weekend or holidays where food is not available in the school. There are two districts where we provide “Snack Attacks” which provide a protein, a salty snack, a fruit snack and a drink for students who become hungry during the day at school. In an additional program we provide clothing to several hospitals for rape victims whose clothes are taken for evidence. We call these survivor kits. We have a wonderful resale shop that is totally staffed by volunteers and the funds from this shop go to pay for our various programs. In addition we have a fundraising event every year and we have received grants from many generous foundations and organizations.
I have been a member for 25 years and believe strongly in this organization which does so much for our community. I have surved in many capacities for this organization including President and I continue to volunteer at age 75 because I believe so much in this organization.

In 2000, I joined Assistance League to work alongside my mother in law and my children who were members of the Assisteens auxiliary over a period of 10+ years. My kids are grown and my mother in law, who continues to be a voting member, can no longer actively volunteer. I've stayed active because of the friendships I've made. Serving my community is an added bonus!

I have been a member of this organization since 1996. I have watched the membership grow and adapt to new circumstances in our community. The leadership and dedication to the organization is incredible.
Each year we clothe many children in new school clothes with the knowledge that feeling good when you attend school contributes to doing well academically and socially.
We don't stop there though. We have other philanthropic programs that directly affect our community in the Bay Area from Assault Survivor Kits donated to local hospitals, Operation Cinderella where we clothe young women for Prom, Ready for Work providing appropriate clothing for work for women in need and more.

Assistance League of the Bay Area makes me smile and feel good! Yesterday I participated in one of our important philanthropy-Operation School Bell. We provided school appropriate clothes to students from area Schools. The students and their families were so happy and thankful for the assistance. These students came up to me shyly and shook my hand very grateful for our assistance. Last year we helped clothe over 2,200 students, because of the generosity of our supporters and the dedicated work of our members! Join us!

I have been a member since 2004 and love everything about Assistance League of the Bay Area!

We serve a variety of populations in our community who need a hand-up.

We have an amazing all-teen auxiliary who support the chapter, but additionally, they have their philanthropic endeavors touching the lives of people from the ages of 4-10 and companion animals.

Our Resale Shop is consistently selected as the Best in the Bay Area. Our volunteers are dedicated to its success. We are blessed with devoted donors and customers.

Members work hard but also find time to spend together in social settings.

It's a wonderful organization making a difference in the community!

I have been a member of this wonderful organization since 2004. We have myriad individuals who lend their talents and time to make our chapter a success. We serve the children, teens, and adults through a variety of philanthropic programs and we earn our money through three diverse funding sources. The best part is all the money we earn stays in the community to serve those who need a hand up. In the words of a longstanding member, "we do good things!"

My sister and I LOVE shopping at Thrift Stores & Resale Shops. Once, while visiting Houston, we dropped off grandson at a theatre company, and happened to see the Assistance League shop next door... unfortunately it was closed. But we VOWED we'd go back the next time we visited Houston, TX !!

And that's EXACTLY what I did ! My sister wasn't with me, but I found it and stopped by.

As soon as I entered, I was Absolutely Inundated with the most beautiful, friendly, funniest, cheerful ladies I have ever encountered....in a group setting !! Ohhhh, my HAM-SAMMICH !!

I was soooo very touched, and moved by the shop, the kindness, the amazing customer service, and the moving stories about the programs and work that they do !! They all encouraged me to come back in and shop and visit the next time I came to town ...They we're lovely, the store was lovely....and VERY reasonably priced...PLUS I got a discount because I'm Old As Baseball !!

I ended up having to move to Houston. I went back in to the Assistance League of the Bay Area and JOINED !! I have now been a member for almost a year !! I volunteer in our Award-Winning Resale shop, I work on various committee projects, and I have made friendships for a lifetime !! It is one of the most rewarding things I've ever been apart of, and I thank God for allowing me to be apart of this Glorious Organization !!

I've been a member of this chapter since 2016. I've served in various positions, including most recently as President, 2021-2022. Since I retired, I have spent many hours working in the various programs. The chapter has many dedicated members who work hard to provide benefits for the local community. School clothing was provided for 2,155 students in the area during the last school year. Food and other items were provided to 26 schools in an effort to provide nutrition and support to at-risk students. Ready for Work provided interview and job clothing to adults entering the work force. Join us; you'll be glad you did!

The philanthropic programs of this organization have a mission dedicated to making the lives of children and adults better. Operation School Bell has been active since June 1st, planning ways work our 8 local school districts and our retail partners to provide identified students in grades Pre-K through 12 with new school clothing, new shoes, and hygiene supplies. The smiles and "thank yous" from the students and their families show this organization is truly making a positive difference in the community.

Following Hurricane Harvey's flooding of the area. many families were left with nothing - no home, clothing, food, books. A new group of economically disadvantaged families were part of our schools. Assistance League of the Bay Area members stepped up and learned about these needs. Food , new clothing, shoes, and underwear were supplied to students and their families identified by the school staff. Mattresses, bedding, towels. a small refrigerator, cleaning supplies, eye exams, glasses and dental services were purchased and given to students and their families. These good works will continue as the need still persists.

I first learned of Assistance League of Bay Area (ALBA) many years ago when I was managing my company's charitable giving. My corporation was (and is) a long-time donor for this local non-profit and also provides gift-matching for employee donations. Having dealt with many nonprofit organizations, the Bay Area chapter has awesome volunteers, is well-run, and one of the best in the country.

After retiring I looked forward to volunteering at Assistance League and enjoy supporting the programs and working in the resale shop. ALBA has many programs for kids and adults including Operation School Bell, Operation Cinderella, Operation Support Our Schools, Assault Survivor Kits, and Ready for Work.

Seeing the positive impact ALBA has in community has been truly rewarding. I encourage friends, neighbors, family members and others to support Assistance League.

I have been a member since 2011. In those 10 years I have seen wonderful contributions to our local community. I have enjoyed working with Ready for Work clients who come into our resale shop for gently used work attire. What a joy to help a client chose several outfits for both interviews and work. Our clients are savvy and know how to stretch the budget they’re given. They arrive a little nervous and leave with confidence and a smile on their face. We know we have contributed in helping them obtain work again. It’s truly a joyous occasion for all involved.

The Assistance League of the Bay Area (ALBA) is an ALL volunteer organization which focuses on children and all citizens in need (financially and educationally). Its resale shop speaks for itself because not only do the donors support the organization’s philanthropic efforts, but it also benefits our community from the sales (as customers and beneficiaries).

I have been a member of Assistance League of the Bay Area since 1997. This member driven organization has done outstanding things in the Bay Area of Houston, Texas since 1988. Clothing children, getting them needed school supplies, encouraging literacy with the distribution of books, helping teens get ready for prom and the list goes on. The members are committed to their tag line: "Transforming lives, strengthening communities."

I have been a member of the Assistance League of the Bay Area since 2007. We are an all-volunteer non-profit. Our 160+ members work tirelessly to improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable and at risk students in southern Harris and Galveston counties. Since 2007 we have provided school clothing to over 26,000 economically disadvantaged students, helped at risk students stay in school, and helped many needy high school seniors attend their prom. As one school superintendent recently said, we are “a light shining in the dark” for these students. We believe we can change lives, one life at a time.

My wife is a volunteer with this organization and I have also volunteered as a community member. Taking part in Operation School Bell was a wonderful experience. For the last five years I have supported this organization by doing computer sign in at one of their dressing days. Working this position has allowed me to interact with the students and their parents. I enjoy seeing the children leaving the store with a big shopping bag full of clothes, shoes, books and hygiene supplies - they are happy and excited to wear their new clothes to school. Thanks Assistance League for all you do for the people in our community.

This is the most wonderful organization! I joined while I was working and I continue to volunteer as a retiree. One of the most wonderful programs is Operation School Bell. To see the looks on the children's faces when they put on the clothes is indescribable . In many cases, this is the first time they have had new clothes. They are used to hand-me-downs which are faded or patched. They even get to pick out a book. That is usually the first time they have received a book to keep. They ask"Is this for me? Can I take it home?"
Another wonderful project is Operation Cinderella. Girls who have never thought they would get to go to the high school prom, feel like Cinderella at the ball. Each girl gets to select a gown, jewelry, shoes and a purse. Then to top it off, she gets a gift certificate to have her hair and nails done. A guy gets to rent a tux and even gets help with the cost of the prom tickets. Of course Assistance League members are the fairy godmothers. There are other programs as well. From our resale shop we are able to clothe women and men who are going on job interviews. We also help provide snacks to children in need. We have two big fundraisers each year, a gala and our wonderful award-winning resale shop. The shop is completely run by volunteers, no paid staff. If you prefer not to sell on the floor, there is a processing area where you can help. The shop carries clothing for men and women, shoes for men and women as well as accessories like purses, gloves, scarves, lingerie , home goods, pictures and furniture. All items are donated by members and the community. Many of our members not only sell items, but buy as well.
In the past, I have served on the Board and even served as President. This is a wonderful group of women who contribute time/ money to this group. We also have help from those in the community who appreciate our service . They help provide grants that help make our service to the community possible.

This non-profit is essential to the Clear Lake Community. One of its programs is Operation School Bell where they clothe children pre-K - high school who are recommended by their schools in Clear Creek, Texas City, Friendswood, Galveston and La Porte. They help provide clothes to men and women who are trying to re-enter the workforce. They provide nutritious snacks for children in schools who are at-risk. They have Operation Cinderella to allow students recommended by their schools to be able to attend their school prom by providing formals, shoes, bags, jewelry, tux rentals for the guys, prom tickets, etc. Without this help, many students would be unable to attend their prom. They have a thrift shop which is completely volunteer-staffed to help raise funds for their philanthropic programs.
This is a wonderful organization. I have been a member for over 20 years.

Assistance League has a vision of meeting essential needs in the community and helping families flourish. I truly believe they are making a difference in the lives of so many in our community. Last year they provided new school clothing to over 3200 students that had been identified by their schools as being in need, they partnered with NASA Vision to provide vision screenings to students whom their teachers recognized as having a problem with their vision, they partnered with Dr. Castille to provide dental care for students in need, they provided over $12,500 in nutritional support to 19 different campuses in Clear Creek and Dickinson ISDs where needs were identified as well as another $3,300 in non-food support. The list goes on. The members of Assistance League continue to focus on meeting those essential needs in our community so that families can flourish. I joined this organization in 2008 because of its service to the community. I stayed because I loved it. The friendships made and cultivated while working with this group of extraordinary individuals has been an added bonus that I truly cherish.

From the moment I walked into the Resale Shop five years ago, I knew I was in an extraordinary place with exceptional people. The volunteers of Assistance League of the Bay Area love to say YES. Yes, we will dress more children. Yes, we will provide more food for children that go hungry. Yes, we will prepare more young women and men for prom. Yes, we will provide adults reentering the workforce the proper clothing to do their job. And yes, we will provide Assault Survivor Kits to abuse victims. The Resale Shop, a consistent winner of the Best of the Bay - Resale Shops award, is an all-volunteer operation that features treasures for less. Join us - or shop with us - you won't regret it.

There are so many nonprofit organizations in the community & many that I am apart of & involved in. But, Assistance League of Bay Area is most definitely a favorite! When you think of giving back, helping, volunteering & philanthropy, The Assistance League of Bay Area is all of that & much more. I admire all of the community leaders & all of the passion in each member & volunteer. The word Passion is an understatement when I think of the volunteers & members of the organization! Its the love & desire to help others that’s truly in their heart! I attended The Assistance League of Bay Area’s Annual Gala as a Guest one year. I was blown away of the organizations accomplishments that helped people & especially children in the community. My first event, I felt like I was with Family, a tight nit Community Family who all have the same heartfelt intentions to give back to the community & to pass on the love & care to others who are in need with less fortunes, guidance, life advice, confidence & to feel like they are loved & special!

I have been a member of Assistance League of the Bay Area for 8 years and during that time I have held numerous positions within the organization. I am so impressed with the spirit of the women who belong to this organization! Their can-do attitude makes it possible to accomplish the near impossible when it comes to dressing children for Operation School Bell or Operation Cinderella, helping the schools within our service area, and aiding the families of these children. As Treasurer, I have seen how they utilize their funds wisely for the good of the community. This all-volunteer organization works hard to fundraise through an award-winning Resale Shop, an annual Gala, selling cookbooks, and searching for additional assistance through grants and foundations. All money raised by this organization is returned to the community through their philanthropies. Truly a wonderful organization to support through my time and your gifts!

I have been part of Assistance League since I retired in 2014. This organization operates as 100% volunteer. All funds raised or donated go directly to the important philanthropies serving our community - which is what attracted me to volunteer with this particular organization. I am proud of the work that is done - particularly in support of Operation School Bell. Over 2700 in-need children were given the opportunity to select their school clothes at one of our Kohl's dressing days. Impacting lives in such a positive way is a great way to spend my time since I retired.

Isn't it frustrating to show up as a volunteer and no one gives you a job to do because no one seems to be in charge or know what's going on? That was not a problem when I volunteered to work the Assistance League's back-to-school clothing program last year. (I am not a member.) The folks were well organized, jobs were assigned, and instructions were clear. The process seemed smooth and easy for volunteers and the families that benefited. Several families expressed their appreciation of not only the generosity of the Assistance League but the efficiency of the process. I'll gladly work the event again this year.

As a retired educator, I began to really miss the feeling I used to have when I helped children of all ages be more successful at school. In the wake of Hurricane Harvey last year, I joined the Assistance League and became part of the Operation School Bell team. For me it is always a delight to see students proud of themselves in their new school clothes when they compare themselves to other students. That feeling of pride transfers to the classroom - I've seen it!! It is also very gratifying to see the look on the faces of parents who know and appreciate the A.L. members who demonstrate their caring for others by volunteering for this effort. I am proud to be a part of this team and help students of all ages as they head back to the schoolhouse!!

I was personally touched one year while volunteering for Operation Cinderella. There was a very thoughtful young woman who carefully chose a prom dress and a graduation dress (we had extra short dresses that year). I was happy the boutique experience that Assistance League provides allowed her the time to pick what were certainly important garments for her senior year.

After choosing dresses, shoes, jewelry and an evening bag, she and her mother approached the "checkout" area. As the dresses were placed in plastic and the accessories in be-ribboned white bags, the young woman looked quizzically at the Assistance League member checking her out.

"What does this cost?" she asked.

"It doesn't cost anything," the member said. "It's free."

I will never forget the reaction of the young woman and her mother. The young woman was smiling and her mother was crying. And I realized that Operation Cinderella wasn't just impacting young ladies, it was impacting mothers and fathers and families.

I have volunteered for Operation Cinderella every year since I joined Assistance League of the Bay Area. I will never miss it!

I have worked with the Assistance League of the Bay Area for over 20 years. They are by far one of the most generous, hardworking and professional organizations I know. For over two decades the Assistance League has provided clothes, hygiene products, food and other vital needs to the children we serve through Communities In Schools – Bay Area (CIS). More importantly they have provided students hope for a brighter future.

The Assistance League of the Bay Area works directly with CIS site coordinators to provide clothing, shoes and hygiene kits to children through Operation School Bell. Through Operation Cinderella seniors in High School who might not otherwise attend their school prom are given prom attire including tuxedos, dresses, jewelry and more. The Assistance League also provides eye glasses to many of our students as well as dental care to others through one of its members. Finally, through Operation Support Our Schools, the Assistance League of the Bay Area designates an Assistance League Liaison for each of the 16 schools where we have a program. This Assistance League Member provides a myriad of support through donations of food, gifts for our students during the holidays, provision of nutritional support and incentives for students to stay in school.

Thank you, Assistance League of the Bay Area, for transforming the lives of thousands of children a year through your support of CIS – Bay Area and your commitment to our community.

I am proud to be a part of Assistance League of the Bay Area. We change lives in our community with our six philanthropic programs. Our 180-member volunteers work magic from La Porte to Galveston Island. Our focus is helping children and in turn their families succeed in school and life. From clothing children for school to providing nutritional support to the students during the school year to donating books to classrooms and school libraries, Assistance League of the Bay Area is improving lives in our area.

I like that all the money we raise in our area on an annual basis stays in the community we serve. If you combine our annual fundraising with the value of our volunteer service hours, each year we are investing over one million dollars into our local community. And this is done by an organization that is 100% volunteer! Join us. Support our programs.

Whether wanting to be in a leadership role or a simple "indian" and many members like to refer to themselves as, there are opportunities for everyone. You may choose to volunteer in the resale shop to help raise funds for the organization or be hands on help with the philanthropies of Operation School Bell (clothing children in need in the four surrounding school districts with new, school appropriate clothing), Operation Cinderella (dressing young ladies and men with prom attire for their senior proms), or Hands from the Heart (giving manicures and fellowship to our senior residents at Baywind Nursing home) as well as others. I started volunteering for the Assistance League of the Bay Area in 2014 after retiring in 2013. I had always wanted to serve my community in a capacity that allowed me to give back to CCISD. My parents were teachers in the district and I was a student in the district from Kindergarten through 12th grade (go Wildcats!). A dear friend invited me to attend a social at her home and I met several current members who shared with me their stories of volunteering with the Assistance League. Their passion was infectious and so I signed up. I love to work at the Resale Shop! The shop is beautiful and every day is a surprise. Our members work very hard to create a lovely shopping experience. Everything I do for Assistance League, every day I serve, every person I meet just reminds me more and more why I give back what was so freely given to me. The Assistance League of the Bay Area is my heart.

I was recently in the United Way Bay Area building for a meeting and noticed the Assistance League's Operation School Bell was in full force on the first floor! I stepped in (I am a school district administrator) and observed the number of volunteers outfitting little ones for the school year. But what truly moved me was not the number of workers, but the tender care and attention each was giving to their student through the fitting process. I left feeling so blessed for this organization and its heart - and how they ensure each child has what they need to 'blend in' with their classmates and, ultimately, a better chance at being successful in school.

My friend, Susan just got back from New Mexico, where she goes to volunteer as a

doctor on an Indian reservation. She was telling me that, although she is not a

religious person, she saw an awe-inspiring scene while driving. A thunderstorm had

just passed, leaving clouds of all shades of red, pink and purple. As she was coming dangerously close to driving off the road, because of looking at the incredible sky,

she rounded a curve and came upon an even more beautiful sight. A cliff just ahead

was striped in the same colors as the sky! She had tears in her eyes telling me about

it. So, I told her of having a similar feeling last Friday, while working for Operation

School Bell at one of the Dickinson dressing days. I was working at the check-out

desk, so had a ring-side seat to watch all the kids trying on clothes, while our Assistance

League helpers were knocking themselves out for these kids. They were literally

running, back and forth, exchanging sizes and colors, handing out praise and positive

comments for all our little "customers." They were behaving as if they were getting

paid millions! They were working as if they were trying for a promotion! I heard so

many phrases like "way to go" and "I could never do this without this great support

system". I admit to my own tears, while thinking "these women don't have to work

like this". They don't have to give up their time. They don't have to lift heavy boxes

or mop floors the size of football fields, or deal with problems for six straight

hours. Yet, they keep showing up for this really difficult task, of clothing over 3,000 at-

risk children, never letting their co-workers or the kids down, and never asking for

anything but the chance to help the less fortunate in our world. I'm not religious

either, but watching all that lifted my heart that day!

I have been a member and volunteer for the Assistance League of the Bay Area for 14 years and each year my heart is filled with joy as we together with our community partners continue to "Make a Difference" and change lives today and forever. I have had the honor of serving in many areas of our organization but last year was the beginning of a new and exciting experience. I participated in the growth and promotion of our organization and witnessed the birth of a new partnership with (H-E-B) and how friendships can be dynamic. I look forward to continuing my service as a proud member in our organization. YPerrin

I have been a member of ALBA for ten years. The Assistance League has several philanthropic programs, but my two favorite are Operation School Bell, and Operation Cinderella. Last week, I worked as a volunteer for Operation School Bell and watched the young children come in to receive their school clothing. They were precious...and so proud when they received their clothing. The other program, Operation Cinderella, helps Junior and Senior girls and boys with Prom Expenses. The boys receive a Tux and ticket...and the girls receive a Prom dress, jewelry, purse, shoes, and a Prom ticket. Watching the girls come in and shop for a dress is so much fun. And when they find "the one", they are indeed Cinderella!

Assistance League of the Bay Area is a fantastic organization! They are a group of some of the finest women that I have ever met and every program they do with complete excellence. I have been blessed to see firsthand how they put smiles on thousands of kids every year as they clothe them with brand new school clothes. It touched me also to hear them talk about how important it is to find clothes that are stylish and don't make the kids stand out.

I have been a member of Assistance League of the Bay Area for several years and continue to be amazed by the number of lives we touch. We have NO paid management or administrative staff and all of our philanthropic programs are carried out by our very dedicated volunteer members.

Operation School Bell is our largest and perhaps the most well-known of our philanthropic programs. Last year we provided a week’s worth of school clothing, a gift card for shoes, and hygiene kit to over 2,000 students and we are well on our way to “dress” even more students during this school year. Each of our programs strives to improve the lives of those we serve in our community.

As a member of Assistance League of the Bay Area, I’m continuously reminded that when you’re surrounded by people who share a passionate commitment around a common purpose, anything is possible. I joined as a way to give back to the community but, in so many ways, feel I have received far more than I could ever give.

Assistance League of the Bay Area works diligently to provide new school clothes for over 2000 children each year. These students can then attend school with pride in the way they look and can focus on learning. I am proud to work with this remarkable group of dedicated women who are making a difference in their community.

I attended Operation School Bell in LaPorte on Saturday, August 23rd. The entire school cafeteria was full of children and their families, who each got to leave with several sets of clothes and other items to prepare the children for school. The children get to actually try on the clothes to make sure they fit properly, or to see if a different style would be better for them, so they leave feeling more prepared and confident to begin the school year. The event is so well run that even with trying on the clothes it goes smoothly for all involved. Thank you Assistance League of the Bay Area!!!!!

Operation School Bell on Saturday, August 23, 2014 was a great event. Hundreds of kids were able to get much needed clothing for school. The school cafeteria was filled with families in need. The event was well organized and the kids were able to get clothing that fit and they liked. Volunteers worked hard to help get everyone what they needed. They really put their heart into it. The families were so appreciative too. This event helps people in need. Thanks to the Bay Area Assistance League and all the volunteers for making this possible.

I attended Project School Bell on Sat, Aug 23rd. I was very impressed in the set up and how well organized this event was. They were able to cloth numerous children at no cost their families. The children's glowing & grateful faces was so heart warming. I was glad to be apart of it. As we were waiting to cloth another family, I spoke with one of the members on other events they sponsor. Not only do they cloth children for school but they also provide prom dresses & tuxes for teenagers to go to prom that would otherwise not have the opportunity. The list goes on and on. The ladies that organize and participate in Project School Bell spend numerous hours in making sure that this event, as I'm sure all of their events, are successful. Thank you ladies for making a difference in our community and making my experience so rewarding.

This past year the Bay Area Assistance League was voted the best non-profit in the area by The Citizen. I am proud to be a member of such a dedicated group. Last year our members donated over 25,000 hours to our various philanthropies. Since 2004 our largest program, Operation School Bell, has nearly tripled the number of school aged children clothed, growing from over 700 to over 2000 annually. This clothing helps students fit in with other students and, through increased self esteem, makes them more eager to learn. These efforts are funded by an annual gala and an award -winning resale shop as well as corporate grants and private donations. Our 200 volunteers are eager to continue and expand this outreach to other school districts but lack the funding. We welcome additional donations to help us achieve our vision of "Self-worth and possibility for all."

The Assistance League of Bay Area makes a difference!
Over 2,000 kids were given 3-4 new outfits for school. Some have never had new clothes. We expect to clothe more kids this season which continues all school year long.
We also do community outreach to kids at risk, adults, and elderly.
We are always looking for more dedicated volunteers. Great organization to get involved in.

The Assistance League of the Bay Area near Houston, Texas is a charity that raises money
to provide clothing for children in need, among other things. I have never seen volunteers work as hard or be as dedicated to a cause. Over 2000 children each year benefit from this charity. As a former
child in need, I personally relate to this cause. I have enjoyed being a member and volunteer.

Assistance League of the Bay Area is a wonderful organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and the elderly in the bay area. We are member driven, as our members both raise the funds for and deliver the services of our philanthropic programs. Our programs include: a partnership with Communities in Schools Bay Area (one of the things we do through this partnership is help pay for vision exams/glasses for students); scholarships to economically challenged students in local school districts to attend summer enrichment programs at the University of Houston - Clear Lake (we also provide volunteer assistance in the classroom for this program); manicures and compainionship for elderly residents at a local nursing home; prom attire for seniors identified by their schools as needing assistance to be able to attend their prom (for the girls - gowns, jewelry, purses and shoes and for the boys - tuxedo rentals) through our Operation Cinderella program; interview outfits to individuals reentering the workforce through referrals from the United Way; and last but by no means least we have Operation School Bell where we chothe children identified by their schools has having a need - each elementary student receives pants, tops, underware, a hygeine kit, and a voucher for shoes & each secondary student receives a hygeine kit, shoe voucher, and clothing based upon the individual needs for school appropriate attire. It is an organization for which I am proud to be affiliated.

As a former non profit director I was able to meet with Assistance League members to learn more about their programs. I was extremely impressed with how much they do for Bay Area familes! I visited their resale shop last August and got to see Operation School Bell first hand! They basically had a clothing store set up for families to shop--even dressing rooms! It is amazing how they distribute school clothes to ~1800 families. It was obvious after meeting the members that they care about the work they do and for our community. I only wish more people knew how much of an impact they make!

The Assistance League of the Bay Area supports the school age children of our community by providing clothing, hygiene kits, eye exams ,prom dresses or tuxedos, and scholarships for summer enrichment classes offered by a local university. The organization also offers Hands From the Heart manicures to a local nursing home. The Assistance League also has an active teen volunteer auxiliary. Being a volunteer for almost 15 years in this organization has been a privilege and honor.

Assistance League of the Bay Area is a vital organization in our community. We are honored to be able to provide services to the at-risk populations in our area. We are so pleased to be named Clear Creek Independent School District's Community Partner of the Year. When you see the face of a child receiving his own toothbrush for the first time, you can't help but be moved. We witness mothers and their and high school senior girls embracing and crying tears of joy after receiving a prom dress, shoes, jewelry and all of the other accoutremets that enable the daughter to experience prom.

I have volunteered for many organizations in our area but found that it was very hard to track progress and wanted to be with an organization that truly made a noticeable difference. Since volunteering with this organization, I have been involved in many worthwhile projects that have true measures of success. The Assistance League of the Bay Area helps so many people, from children to the elderly. There is not one single story that makes everything I have done worthwhile, but many.

Assistance League of Bay Area is a wonderful nonprofit that focuses on helping those in the Bay Area community, but especially seniors and children. Their biggest annual charity even is Operation School Bell, in which they provide hygiene kits and a whole week's worth of clothing to needy children in 4 school districts so that the children will be able to better focus on school instead of ill-fitting or ratty clothes. They provide girls with prom dresses with Operation Cinderella, spend time with seniors, and donate time and material to shelters just to name a few of their great programs. They have a branch of Assisteens so that teenagers can help out and increase the meaning in their lives as well.

Working in partnership with the Assistance League of the Bay Area, I came to find that it is an awsome organization. They are actively involved in the community they serve. Some of the programs include Operation School Bell, Operation Cinderalla, Resale Shop Donation Program, Community Outreach, and the list goes on. These programs help provide clothing and hygiene kits to kids, proms dresses and tuxs for high school seniors, and activities for the elderly. The assistance league works very hard in their community. The passion of the administration and the membership is what makes all projects come together for those in need. I have only mentioned a few them here, but I encourage a site visit to learn about the other programs as well. Overall great job Assistance League of the Bay Area.

This is a wonderful charity with caring and professional people. I work for a school district in the community that this organization services. The majority of the students that I work with are either low income or homeless. Whenever I need something for one of our kids, I always call on this charity. Their response has always been very positive and very prompt. It seems that their motto is "to go beyond the call of duty" as they always provide, when possible, more then the original request. I cannot express how appreciative I am that this charity exists and I hope that they will continue to thrive.

Assistance League of the Bay Area has certainly been an extremely valuable asset in our community. As a social service provider, ALBA aids the families I work with on a regular basis. The ladies of ALBA frequently check in with my program to see what needs we have that they can help with. Whenever I have had a family who has lost their belongings in a fire, ALBA is the first point of contact I make when seeking outside services. They provide clothing and hygiene items so the families have one less worry on their mind when in emergency.
To help fund the wonderful services ALBA provides, they operate an upscale resale shop. The ALBA resale shop is an excellent place! Personally, I make donations and purchases from the shop because it is so clean and the volunteers are so friendly. I greatly admire all the work ALBA does for the Clear Lake area.

This is my first year working closely with Assistance League of Bay Area. I am a social worker in a school, and AL Bay Area has helped supply school clothes and supplies for many of my students. They are a tremendous resource.
