The program dressed 1,185 students in 2016-17.

Depending on the age of the children, the kit may contain a book, a toy, a teddy bear or other items to make the children feel comforted 288 kits were supplied on 2016-17.

the kids on the block - volunteers act as puppeteers who perform skits with a message of tolerance and compassion for others who may be a little different. Over 1,100 third graders at 32 local schools participate in this program each year. The scripts address differences of culture, physical disabilities social interpersonal problems. The puppets are life-sized and become very real to the children. Both puppets and scripts are purchased from the national kids on the block organization. Time is provided for the children to interact with the puppets, ask questions and comment on the topic of the skit.

A visit to the Assistance League of Stockton's Thrift Shop is both a pleasurable and economic venture. Extremely sweet and helpful ladies who volunteer all of their time, helped me find just what I was looking for. And then they showed me their wall of donors and photos of their special programs that help families and children. I was impressed with their out reach to the people in the community.
