This charity is truly a godsend to the community. They are dedicated to families and children. in the last year they provided new school clothing to some 10,000 children in need in our area. This level the playing field to these children and gives them hope for the future. In addition they derive a large portion of their funding by operation thru their very successful thrift shops stocked completely through generous donations from the public. In addition the Assistance League funds a number of scholarships for underprivileged young adults as well as well as their Assault survivor Program reaching our with support to women in crisis

The Assistance League of East Valley has been helping our community for many years. The delight you see on a young child's face as he or she receives their school clothing and shoes is something you never forget.
For some of the children, this is the first time they have ever had "new" school clothing or their own pair of shoes.
Giving HOPE to these children is a primary goal of the League's Operation School Bell and indeed the new clothing does the trick and warms the hearts of the donors as well

I love volunteering at the Thrift Store because everyone who comes in as a customer remarks at how beautiful the store is, how inviting it is, how bright, the prices are awesome, and everyone who volunteers is happy and helpful. I like being a part of that! I'm sure the customers don't realize the activity that goes on from the donations accepted at the backdoor, the intake departments to ensure the items are clean, in working order, have all the buttons, the zippers work, and the clothes are steamed and put on hangers to be beautifully displayed for customers to look at, try on, and purchase. These worker bees are dedicated to keeping the Thrift Store of the East Valley THE place to shop. All proceeds from the Thrift Store go right back into the community. If you haven't yet....stop by to see what all the buzz is about! Then you will know why I love to be a part of the Assistance League of East Valley. June T

I have known about and been affiliated with Assistance League for more than a decade. The organization is all volunteer and provides a great a variety of goods and services to students, adults and the East Valley community. All are in need of some assistance: school clothing to students in need; survivor kits for those who must relinquish their clothes for an investigation or as a result of a fire or accident; birthday parties for the elderly and brain trauma adults; scholarships for college students; cleaning kits for the formerly homeless. More than 100 members operate a Thrift Shop to help raise funds. Even this is run completely by the ALEV members and volunteers.

I volunteer on Mondays at the Assistance League in Chandler. The members and Community Volunteers are so dedicated in helping the community. We all work very hard to make our store and merchandise appealing to buyers; which in turn helps in so many ways. I am very proud of my community and this organization that helps so many people in need.

I am a member of Assistance League of East Valley and can proudly say that I belong to a great, hard working ALL volunteer organization that does wonderful things for the less fortunate children and adults in the East Valley. We provide 10,000 children with new school clothes each and every school year. We also supply Assault Survivor kits to hospitals, police departments and rescue centers along with various other items. We fund 15 scholarships per year for education to further life advancement. We also run a thrift store that is the "crème de la crème" of thrift stores. We are interested in partnering with other non profits to serve more individuals, everything we make through our store, grants and fund raisers goes back into our East Valley communities.

When I was looking for a volunteer activity after I retired 8 years ago, I came across this organization, which has absolutely no paid staff and yet manages to provide new school clothing for over 10,000 needy kids every year! I couldn't believe I'd never heard of Assistance League of East Valley before then. Not only that, they provide assault survivor kits for over 5,000 victims of crisis or assault to local agencies, 13 college scholarships, as well as services for homeless teens and the elderly. I actually love working in their thift shop, not only because it's clean and well-organized and quite lovely, but because the other volunteers are so dedicated and friendly. What a great way to help people who really need it.

When l first joined Assistant League, we were taking children to Target stores to shop for school clothing and the members helped the children choose their outfits. I remember one time having a Second grader and his kindergarten brother. The younger was autistic so the older was helping me with him. The little one wanted jeans and once he got them on, there was NO way he was going to take them off. He could not care less about the shoes, shirts or anything else we were getting for him. The jeans were his prize! He wore the to the register to be scanned.

The Assistance of East Valley is a little-known, big story in the East Valley, Phoenix, AZ. Without paid staff, it raises enough money to provide over 10,300 students each year with clothing for school (many students shop at Target for new clothes, shoes etc.). It supports approximately 300 homeless teens with critical essential items. Over 5,000 Assault Survivor Kits with size/gender-specific clothes along with hygiene supplies are made and distributed to hospital, fire stations, police stations, etc. Hundreds of individuals are celebrated monthly at a day care facility. Scholarships for college are awarded to approximately 12 students each year. This organization does all this by requesting grants, conducting fundraisers and making money at their Thrift Shop, which is the best thrift shop in all of East Valley. Once you see and hear all about this chapter of National Assistance League, many join to help make a difference..... just as i did. Thank you, Sue Niesz

Being a part of the Assistance League of the East Valley guarantees satisfaction and lots of fun. Sure we work hard but we work to help dress children who have never had new clothing. With two new outfits, the children we provide clothing for set off on the first day of school looking as bright and shiny as all the other students. It's such fun to see how proud they look. We love our monthly birthday parties that we provide at Children First Academy in Tempe. Many of these kids have never had a party before. Our Adult Day Care Socials create terrific parties for our community's elders. Their fun and engagement rivals the children's birthday enthusiasm. Assistance League of East Valley also provides Assault Survivor kits for individuals and families who have experienced loss from a fire, or physical injury and/or assault. Individuals and families leave emergency rooms dressed in new, clean clothing after shedding the reminders of their recent traumatic experience. It's such a privilege to find creative, helpful community work in my retirement years. Our group runs a thrift shop in Chandler, AZ to help raise funds for the organization. I hope many people-retired or not- find and join us in this wonderful endeavor.

When retiring from teaching in 2002, I planned to take a year off to clean up and fix up my house and life. But I received a call in July asking if I would like to volunteer for Assistance League of East Valley and without thinking, I said "YES!"

Since that time, I have found a group of women ready to serve those in need. We have five programs aiding the East Valley, but one is a signature program.
It is Operation School Bell - dressing children who receive free lunch at school. Parents and social workers bring the children to Target from one school or district. We have groups of 90-100 children dressed in one night spending $100 per child or about $1,000! We also include the many uniform schools in our districts providing new uniforms. This means last year we dressed 869 students at Target and 5,775 in uniform schools!

Not only have I found an outlet for my desire to help others, I have found a new group of caring and committed friends.
P.S. Come visit or donate to our Thrift Shop at Warner and Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ and become part of this team improving the lives of others.

When it comes to great non-profits, Assistance League of East Valley rates top-quality by any measure! If you're looking for the most bang for the buck from your donation, this is is the place. None, repeat, none of your donation goes to 'administration' because we have no paid staff. All of the donation goes directly to work helping the needy. If you're looking for a way to help a specific group, we've got a program to target them, from scholars to seniors. If you're looking for a place to volunteer your time, we've got opportunities as varied as assisting in the Thrift Shop or party planning. If you really want a soul-satisfying activity, come help us dress the needy school children, over 6000 of them last year. Told you we were the tops!

This is a wonderful organization if you are looking for a place to volunteer. Not only do we have the Thrift Shop, we hold birthday parties at a school and an adult location. We "dress" hundreds of children at East Valley Target stores. We hold fundraisers in the spring and fall. That's just a few of the things we do. There is a place for everyone. If you have't shopped at our Thrift Shop, please drop by. I'm sure you'll be pleasantly pleased.

We are a dedicated group of women who are devoted to help children and adults in the East Valley area of Maricopa County. We help over 10,000 people each year with school clothes, assault survivor kits, shoes and hygiene kits. We operate a Thrift Shop that was just recently voted the #1 Resale Shop in Chandler, Arizona.

The caring members of Assistance League help hundreds of people here in the East Valley of Metro Phoenix. Seeing a child select a book and a gift at his birthday celebration at the school for homeless children, helping a family select new clothing at a special shopping event or packing needed items for victims of assault helps make us realize that we are having a great impact in our community!
