Causes: Education
Mission: The mission of ASSET Inc. (d/b/a ASSET STEM Education™) is to advance teaching and learning to engage, inspire and empower all learners. Its vision is to continue to be the premier provider of services to systemically improve education by equipping educators with effective tools and strategies to create innovative and relevant learning environments so all students acquire the knowledge and skills needed to work, live, contribute and lead in a global community. ASSET was founded by industry leaders and community partners in 1994 to improve teaching and learning across science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
Results: Independent research proves that students in ASSET-supported schools outperform their peers in science, math, reading and other subjects (Raghavan, Cohen-Regev, & Strobel, 2001; Banilower & Weis, 2009). Based on these results, ASSET earned acceptance into Change the Equation’s STEMworks national registry of evidence-based education improvement programs. ASSET also leads the Pennsylvania STEMx™ Network and represents the state on Battelle Education’s national STEMx™ network to foster collaboration among stakeholders, bridge gaps, test innovative approaches and scale up what works in STEM education.

Programs: ASSET makes the following programs and services available to all schools (public, private and charter) and organizations to advance STEM education, pre-K through career:
- Professional Development: More than 130 unique courses addressing instructional best practices, skills and content knowledge that are designed and facilitated by experienced classroom teachers, vetted through a rigorous Research & Development process and customized to meet educator needs
- STEM Materials Leasing: Storage, shipment and refurbishment of nationally-sourced, hands-on learning materials that are leased to schools and educational organizations with accompanying professional development to ensure effective implementation of these tools in classrooms and educational programs
- Professional Services: Expert consulting to help educators and administrators align curriculum with academic standards and reform STEM teaching and learning in their schools and organizations
- Collaboration: Convening schools, businesses, higher education, community organizations and other stakeholders to increase collaboration around improving STEM education
