The work of the Asian Pacific Development Center is extraordinary. For the scope and the importance of the work they do in supporting the Asian-Pacific communities in their medical and couseling needs alone, it is actually miraculous given their budget. The people involved are so dedicated, so extraordinarily talented, I give my hats off to them a thousand times.

While I am not a member of he Asian Pacific community per se, I have worked as a volunteer for decades in the cultural area of this community. I only wish I could help fund them more, as I am a true believer in APAC.

Ever wondered what it would take to create a great non-profit organization?

Some insight into APDC will help answer that question as it helps to:

1) Empower individuals
2) Support those who are in need and
3) Brings together a more cohesive society.

APDC is a great organization to volunteer for and is a one of a kind entity in Colorado given it's specific focus in the community. My role as a volunteer is multifaceted as I've helped with numerous community projects, acted as a mentor for middle school at-risk asian youth, and as a counselor for teenagers at a leadership summitt.

Giving back to the community very important, but APDC goes the extra mile to "teach a man how to fish" as they invest tremendous time and money into empowering individuals to help them thrive under the most adverse of circumstances.

APDC has also gone a long way to helping lend support to refugee families who are early in their arrival to their new home in the U.S. through food and clothing donations and helping them adapt to our cold winters.

Finally, APDC helps bring the community together through matching volunteers with their passions whether it is mentoring youth, contributing to a food bank or assisting with fundraisers and consequently bringing together and building a cohesive community.

In my opinion, these three aspects of APDC:

1) Empower individuals
2) Support those who are in need and
3) Brings together a more cohesive society,

are what makes APDC stand out from the rest and therefore a great organization.

I thought that I would be the one giving to APDC but I have received more than I gave. As a volunteer for the Asian Youth Mentorship Program and RELAY, their after school tutoring program, I got to work with amazing children that have shown so much promise. Without APDC, these children would have not discovered their worth, and I am so proud and blessed to have been a part of that process.

As a volunteer for different aspects of the Asian Pacific Development Center's projects, I can honestly observe that the employees really have their heart in the right place. They wouldn't be at this nonprofit unless they were in it to help the Asian and Pacific-Islander community. They have gone above and beyond their job descriptions to really serve the people, even helping other employees' projects as volunteers in their spare time, even giving and donating, when they can. This nonprofit definitely deserves recognition for all that it does.

I had been on an advisory committee for several years and have seen significant growth in APDC's influence in the Asian American communities, in health, mental health, youth programs, and services. They have managed to help so many parts of such a diverse community. I have been impressed with the people that I have met on the advisory committee that I served, and with the work and dedication of the staff.

Asian Pacific Development Center (APDC) is a wonderful organization. I have been a volunteer for many different organizations, and I can tell you that this is one of the best non-profit organizations that I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

The staffs really care about the community and often go above and beyond their job description. APDC has touched many lives here in Colorado, and they often do it on a shoestring budget.
