Mission: Our core belief at a&pi wellness center is that everyone deserves to be healthy & needs access to the highest quality health care. Our mission is to transform lives by advancing health, wellness & equality.
Programs: Community programs (formerly prevention) program reaches queer or questioning youth, gay and bisexual men, and transgender persons through community organizing and outreach around hiv testing and prep, workshops, retreats, and support groups, mental health counseling, large-scale events, peer counseling, and prevention case management. Services also include onsite and mobile confidential hiv testing specifically targeting high-risk api young gay men and transgender individuals of color. Clients needing medical services are referred directly to our onsite medical clinic. Trans: thrive, our 4-day week drop in center for the transgender community, provides clients with nutritious meals, clothing, computer/internet access, art classes, and social support while they access the health services listed below.
wellness clinic. Asian and pacific islander wellness center, inc. Was awarded a federally qualified community health center grant in august 2015. Since then, the organization has been a fully operational health clinic in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. The organization is focused on providing culturally competent high quality health care for the tenderloin neighborhood of san francisco, targeting all low-income and homeless individuals and lgbtq individuals with a particular focus on transgender individuals.
capacity building and training -- department houses api wellness centers capacity building assistance and training programs: builds capacity of community-based organizations (cbo) and hiv providers throughout the united states and its affiliated jurisdictions to improve their ability to deliver culturally competent hiv services: provides training and tailored consultations around hiv-related issues, including hiv testing, prevention with hiv positive individuals, hiv treatment, condom distribution, and public benefits for people living with hiv/aids.
