Mission: Apiavote-michigan is a 501(c)3 nonpartisan organization committed to justice and equity for the asian american community through grassroots mobilization, civic engagement, leadership development, and coalition building.
Programs: Voter engagement-through candidate forums and voter registration efforts, such as phone banking, registration tabling, canvassing and more, apiavote-michigan strives to increase civic participation by working with constituents to make sure they have equal access and opportunity to their vote. youth leadership core -apiavote-michigan believes that youth are valuable contributors to the civic process and are vital for fostering greater civic participation, advocacy, and engagement among the great michigan apia community. This nine month program allows youth to gain better insight into asian american identity, issues that impact our community, and empowers youth to take action to be a part of implementing community solutions. Members of the ylc gain valuable opportunity to improve leadership skills, earn community service hours, and learn about key issues that affect the apia community. Our goal is to create the next generation of socially-conscious and intelligent apia voters who can not only make informed decisions at the polls, but also education others and potentially be inspired to beginning their own political careers.
mobilizing for health project to enhance local- and state-level asian american, native hawaiian and pacific islander (aa and nhpi) organizing and community mobilization infrastructure to support improved health for aa and nhpi hildren (ages 0-8) and their families through policy, systems, and environmental change efforts. This project builds upon apia mis local coalition efforts to improve aa and nhpi health access.
