Thirteen years ago, I became acquainted with Asante Africa Foundation. First as a donor and volunteer. Then as a board advisor. I am impressed with the organization's ability to create and implement their programs with efficiency and precision that truly empowers the youth of the rural areas with the skills they need to succeed and improve and to change their futures and their communities. By empowering the youth with the ability to learn, do and pay it forward, Asante Africa is creating a generation of change agents, ready to solve the problems facing them and their countries.

The organization is run with integrity and transparency. All programs are implemented by locals who live in the communities that they work in.

An investment in Asante Africa Foundation is an investment in the youth and future of East Africa and the world!

Am called Nansamba lilian Matovu from Uganda. Am an alumni of Asante Africa foundation and I joined the Asante summit in 2019 . I call this as a great opportunity for me to be part of Asante .
It awakened me to start believing in my self and boosted my self esteem . It groomed me to some one who to lives exemplary life in my community.

Asante mentors do a very good job to share their different experiences and skills to help youths pursue with their dreams and also build their talents .

After Asante Africa mentorship, my life didn't stay the same . I had a passion of sharing with the little I have to others and I formed up a foundation called Give to life which supports the less privileged people in my community . I involve fellow youths in the pay it forward activities I do because Asante encouraged us team work management.

I have endless Asante Africa stories but I lastly say that I strongly support you and will forever believe that you are so inspirational in the whole world.

I've been involved with Asante Africa Foundation since 2011. I was impressed from the onset with their efficiency, accountability & transparency. It's been incredibly rewarding to watch the organization mature and grow. Now the young people who were scholarship kids in my early years are adults, who are doing great things & paying forward their success to help their families and communities. Most recently they've stepped up to provide their communities with the information and supplies they need to stay safe from COVID-19. They ARE the change they want to see in the world.

I've been involved with Asante Africa Foundation for 8 years as a volunteer, & 7 as a board member. I have so much respect for the work, which is respectful of local expertise and culture, not about "fixing" problems or handouts. It's about empowering youth to be the change they want to see in their world. Our earliest scholars are now graduating from university or starting their own businesses, and paying it forward by sponsoring younger students & continuing to volunteer.
I have sponsored the education of two different students, & recently wrote a blog post about the difference this makes in their lives. https://asanteafrica.org/unscripted-and-unstoppable/

Our junior high school son took an interest in Africa after a speaker came to his school to discuss the plight of children in Uganda This was the first time he truly understood that not every child has the chance to go school to learn and play in a safe environment. For the first time, he decided to take action and do what he could to make a difference for other children. Erna Grasz and I worked together early in our career and knew about her work in Africa. We invited her to dinner and her passion and enthusiasm rubbed off on the entire family. Our son and his friends raised over $2000in a few short weeks just by word of mouth throughout his school! We have supported Asante Africa for 10+ years and have seen first hand what can be accomplished through education in a safe and secure. The hallmark of Asante Africa programs is "Pay it Forward." This approach has provided boys and girls with the leadership and entrepreneurial skills needed to help their communities thrive; and the ability to mentor the younger children in the their villages. As a result of hard work, passion, and commitment Asante Africa has impacted over 300,000 lives in just 10 years. Asante Africa students have mastered technology, become college students and business owners, but more importantly, they have become respected leaders and teachers in their community so that others can also excel.

I've worked with Asante Africa Foundation as an advisor for more than ten years. I've traveled to East Africa in support of the work in country. I can not say enough great things about the impact on lives of the Youth touched by Asante Africa Foundation programs. Watching a young woman, in a very difficult environment, given the opportunity to stay in school - they seize the opportunity and thrive. It's truly transformative for the young people AND their families.

It's important to speak about the high integrity of the organization. The attention to ethics at every step from the CEO to the staff in country to the youth they serve is second to none.

I'm very proud to recommend Asante Africa Foundation to anyone looking for a great non-profit with heart, brains and character.

I first learned about Asante Africa through our company years ago. I was immediately impressed with the vision and mission of the organization and how Asante has impacted the lives of children in Africa. Our firm has donated funds to Asante and it's been very meaningful to hear how those dollars are used to change lives and make a real impact across the world--there was latrine project we helped fund (girls are particularly disadvantaged by a lack of clean and safe latrines which provide some privacy as this prevents them from attending school during menstruation). To hear how this gift really changed their lives, allowing them to attend school and gain the education they need to succeed and build their future was truly inspiring. Not only does our firm donate to this cause, but I personally donate because I fully support this program and all the Asante does.

We have been donors for a dozen years, witnessing Asante's impressive leadership and growth. I am most impressed by the huge impact generated for each dollar of donation. The pay-it-forward activities performed by the attendees of LEI , for example, change the lives of thousands of impoverished children, opening the door to achieve higher education and successful careers and lives. I feel honored to be part of this process.

We have supported both a primary school (for 7 years) and a scholarship for girls (for 3 years) in Kenya. The Asante Foundation folks have been great about providing information about each, and their regular checking-in with the students and their families is valuable to keep the students focused and to head off any issues early. Administratively they are really efficient, so that a huge percentage of our contributions go to the students and schools we are targeting. They were also extremely helpful in arranging visits when we were in Nairobi, and I have been impressed with their follow up on every query.

We have been contributing to Asante Africa for about 10 years. We like knowing they are organized and provide both scholarships and challenges to the students.

We were able to meet the young woman whose school fees we pay. She is smart, hardworking, kind and thoughtful. Anderson, the Asante Africa coordinator in that region accompanied us to the meeting. We were very impressed with the connection he had with our student, and his helping her to make longer term goals. She is very grateful and so are her sister and mother. It’s very rewarding to know we are making a difference in a family.

Everyone who works and volunteers at Asante that I know has a beautiful heart and they give all they have to make an impact in so many lives. This nonprofit is an example of how we all have a space in the world to make a little difference if you have a few minutes or a few hours to help your time is valued and appreciated.

Asante Africa Foundation does essential work to educate the children of East Africa, providing them not only with classroom, but with real-world skills. These skills help girls remain in and complete school, avoiding early marriage and potential abuse. They also educate provide education to boys, including educating them on the importance of girls' education and the autonomy of girls. One of my favorite things about Asante Africa Foundation is that they focus training local teachers in child-centered teaching. They work with local parents, leaders and communities to ensure that the children have the support that they require. Many students supported by Asante Africa Foundation go on to be the first children in the families, and even their communities, to graduate from secondary school and some have gone on the be the first to graduate from college. Education is the key to a world where people do not fear each other, where people can care for themselves and each other, where people understand each other and thus where people can all prosper together and avoid conflict.

Asante Africa Foundation might not be that big of a non-profit (yet), but it’s definitely a lean and mean one. We have a solid foundation in our dynamic CEO, who has a passion for education that is contagious not just with staff but also with the rest of our community.

Validation has come in many different forms lately as the organization approaches its 10th year. One of the core programs that focuses on keeping girls in school has been recognized by no less than the UN for promoting good practices in Africa. And we are seeing more and more inspiring men and women graduating from our programs, doing their thing and being successful. Seeing the fruits of our collective efforts for Africa just drives the team to keep doing what they do.

Personally, one of the best things about Asante Africa Foundation is that it makes it so easy for everyone to give of themselves. I speak from experience! What I get back – from being mentored, to seeing changes happening in our communities in Africa – is something I never got from previous work opportunities. This kind of work really does make the heart happy.

As a donor, I traveled with Asante Africa Foundation this summer to rural Kenya. I was funding the building of a kindergarten classroom and teachers housing. I was very impressed. This nonprofit is very organized, has great leadership, and doesn't waste a dime. I saw other NGO's driving in owned land cruisers. We took taxi's which are very inexpensive and puts more money into the local economy. I was also impressed with their approach to charity. Every project must be sustainable. No project goes forward without the stakeholder/communities /parents involvement, which includes funding a portion of the project. The communities are involved at every step and own the project. Your donations to Asante Africa will give kids in Eastern Africa a chance to go to school, gain real life skills, and achieve their dreams. Highly recommend this Non-profit as I saw first hand the difference they are making.

My experience as a program coordinator- Girls' advancement Program-Asante Africa Foundation has been great empowering young people.Working with Asante Africa Foundation introduce me to new people, taught me about giving back to the community, compassion and provided a continuous learning environment.I had a keen interest on girls and women health and financial empowerment and I am so motivated to work with people who are passionate about cause and motivated by purpose to transform.
Being a product of this investment, one of the causes I really care is education,Which Asante Africa has tackle in a unique model which addresses root cause; Scholarships are key to keep boys and girls in school, the programs provide them with tools and skills to excel in school and outside the classroom,We advance talents by creating a safe learning space, strengthen teachers capacity and providing leadership to address life challenges in their communities. The most interesting thing in this program world is knowledge sharing centered collaboration and partnership which allows innovation locally with a global experience. It's so amazing to have this experience across several different areas embracing diversity and am proud to be part of this remarkable journey.

Over the past 9 years, I have been associated with Asante Africa Foundation, as a volunteer, a donor, a staff member, and a board advisor. Within that realm, I have worked in every aspect of the organization. I have seen it grow from its infancy to what it is today-an outstanding non-profit that truly makes a difference in the lives of young people in East Africa. I have also seen firsthand what our educational programs can do to transform the lives of our students, their families and their communities. I am proud of the dedication of our volunteers and staff, both here in the US and in country. Without our dedicated volunteers, we would not be able to spend 89% of our budget on our programs. I am proud of the students who have gone through our programs and are now “paying it forward” and transforming the worlds of many more people. I first started volunteering with Asante Africa Foundation because of my interest in international development and desire to work within the non-profit field. My experience as an intern these last seven months has exceeded all of my expectations. Asante is a small but quickly growing organization and there is plenty of work to do. My tasks shifted from donor outreach to marketing user engagement analysis and beyond.
Almost two months ago however, I was made project manager for a panel discussion regarding the link between girls’ education and a prospering global economy. I was charged with mobilizing the efforts, talents and contacts of a 20-person team. I had never led such a sizeable project before. Under an uncomfortably tight timeline and some serious doubts, the panel was a clear success. Our speakers and panelists rocked the house and our audience, almost 70 in total, was clearly engaged.
This experience gave me the opportunity to excel. It has greatly enhanced my confidence along with my organizational and managerial skills; and it has affirmed my desire to work in the international development field. I have seen what happens when a small and collaborative group gets behind a clear purpose. I believe in Asante’s vision, I believe in their approach and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to work with this dynamic group. So I say to my team, Asante Sana (Swahili for thank you very much)!

I decided to volunteer with Asante for several reasons: as a granddaughter, daughter and sister of teachers, I strongly believe in education for children. I went several times in Africa and could attest of the needs regarding education and the power of knowledge as a catalyst to help young people create a future where they can live their potential. And as an HR professional, I wanted to help the Organization and share with them my knowledge and competencies.

What a surprise when I joined the team - so amazing, great, dedicated people! I love working with the AAF team who strongly believe in what they build with always a smile and an awesome working ambiance.
I strongly recommend anyone who wish to be part of a great adventure to come volunteering with AAF

Several years ago a woman came to my Rotary Club to talk about her non-profit that was educating kids in Africa. I remember being drawn to her passion and appreciating the logic and determination. That woman was Erna Graz of Asante Africa Foundation. Since that date I have had the opportunity to learn more and more about this organization and the more I've seen the more impressed I've become. Erna attracts very special people to participate in her team and the result is great results. If you are passionate about changing the world for the better, Asante Africa Foundation is a great organization to accomplish that goal.
