Whenever friends visit from out of town, I'm sure to bring them to AFL to see the beautiful Cultural Campus and enjoy all they have to offer!
I love arts for lawrence! They are an amazing organization who truly cares about the community and wants to effect positive change, and the musical swings are amazing!
I came to this grass-root organization as a volunteer and fall in love with it. It is all about the community and the arts, and it is so amazing to see the growth in just a couple of years. Arts for Lawrence is bringing amazing things for the near future, so, everyone, please keep posted.
Thanks Arts for Lawrence for making this community great and awesome :)
This organization is awesome! a great place that promote the community spirit through the arts and culture. Everyone is family here!
Having been involved in numerous nonprofits throughout the Indianapolis area, it's refreshing to be connected to one that so clearly remembers its mission and target audience when considering new programs and initiatives.
I adore Arts for Lawrence and am honored to be part of their contribution to the community of Lawrence.
I have been a part of the Arts for Lawrence family for a little over two years now, and I am so proud of the arts destination we are creating. Not only do we give up and coming performers a place to perform, but we allow children the opportunity to have a "real life" theatre stage experience, poets a place to gather and learn and visual arts workshops and opportunities for the community.

Arts for Lawrence connects the community with the arts. The Theater at the Fort is a wonderful facility, with a new sound system, seating for 200, and excellent and diverse programming - come check it out!!!
I live in Lawrence and am delighted at all the programs Arts for Lawrence brings to the community. Their summer camp is a wonderful program that offer arts programming to many kids in need that would never have the opportunity to participate in any type of creative activities in the summer. Lawrence is very fortunate to have the broad based programs that Arts for Lawrence brings to the community.
I am on the board of directors, but I am also a working artist and high school art teacher. I actually became involved in the organization as a teaching artist. Arts for Lawrence has done amazing things to make Lawrence, Indiana, a cultural destination. (Lawrence is a small, diverse community that is part of the greater Indianapolis area.)
Arts for Lawrence offers such a great amount of programming -- from public art murals and collaborations to Summer Art Camp to poetry nights to annual Children's Theatre Festival and Holiday Home Tour. We partner with the City of Lawrence and redevelopment organizations as wells as businesses and artistic partners.
Summer Art Camp is one of my favorite programs, probably because of my teaching background. Youth from throughout the Indy region work with professional artists and performing groups at the Theater of the Fort, which is Arts for Lawrence's home base. We work hard to secure scholarships for all youth who need aid to attend. Their end-of-camp art shows and performances are inspiring.
What I love about Arts for Lawrence is that it makes the arts accessible and welcomes diverse partnerships and audiences. We bring free outdoor summer concerts to the community, for instance. We brought life back to the Theater at the Fort, which is part of the former Fort Harrison military base, and had not been used as a theater for many years. So many partners and visitors come to the Theater -- veterans, students, neighborhood visitors and those around the community. This is what we want -- a place where arts, culture and community come together.
I'm on the board of directors. We on the board are part of an intrepid, plucky, creative arts organization. We've been in existence for several years, but in many ways, we are just getting started. We're small and growing. We have a tremendous mission and serve the east area of the Indianapolis area as the only arts organization there. We emphasize partnering with local govt, businesses, organizations and groups in town. Partnerships are our strength. We run a small, historic theater and it is becoming a gathering place for our community. That's the point! The arts are part of the strength of a community, which is, after all, its people. We are making community. How much better can it get?!
I don't live in Lawrence, but I was introduced to Partnerships for Lawrence through my daughter! I have always loved the arts and enjoy every aspect of them. What I love about Partnerships for Lawrence, and the goals they have set for Lawrence, is the fact that they want to expose people of all ages to a large variety of arts and entertainment! There is something for everyone!! A variety of genres for everyone to enjoy! I truly believe that, because of Partnerships for Lawrence, before long, Lawrence will be the place to go for all aspects of the arts!!
Partnerships for Lawrence is doing some great things for the community. Such a positive organization that is helping to make Lawerence a major arts scene!
Wonderful group bringing the arts back to the Lawrence conmunity for all to enjoy.
Looking forward to seeing great things happen.
I have a boy and a girl who are both 6 years old. They are both very shy and avoid group activities with strangers, even have anxiety over school! However, they were both interested in trying an art camp. They never had any anxiety past the first day! They were the youngest of the age range, but always came home feeling quite proud and confident in the things they did - and what a range of things they did! They threw pottery on the wheel, sewed, painted, made puppets and more. The products were quite impressive! They not only hope to go next year, they hope to go next week!
This is my first experience with the Lawrence Art Center. I plan not only to look for more opportunities for my children here, but also for myself.
