Artists4Artists provides assistance for artists facing catastrophe. In many ways, artists are vulnerable members of society. While most people love art, artists are often have no safety net when disaster strikes. Healthcare is the biggest and most common emergency for which artists are not covered, but not the only one. While art is valued, the artist is often undervalued, and the nature of making a living making art is unsteady. As an artist myself, knowing that I'm one setback away from being unable to continue my profession, an avenue like Artists4Artists is invaluable. They are a lifeline, and a measure of security knowing that they are their supporters are available. There aren't a lot of non-profits focused on this kind of aid for artists, so I'm grateful that Artists4Artists saw the need. A few more have arisen due to the pandemic, hopefully they stay around afterwards. I've donated portions of artwork for them and I have received a grant from them from their efforts to support artists during the shutdown caused by Covid-19. They also distributed grants for artists affected by the cancellation of the Bayou City Arts Festival. Artists4Artists went into overdrive to get both of those programs up and running in a very short turnaround because the need was so great. I highly recommend them and am grateful for their mission

When Covid first hit and the lockdown ensued, I, along with so many other artists, watched my entire year’s worth of plans and income completely vanish.

Miraculously, Artists for Artists pivoted into action. They distributed a generous anonymous donation to 300 artists within one week. They quickly mobilized to produce the first virtual artshow. They provided resources, more funds, and HELP to me and countless other artists during a real time of crisis. I am forever grateful for the BIG HEARTS and sound business practices of this nonprofit.

This entire year has been fairly turbulent to say the least - we're (currently) at the end of October; back in February/March when everyone went into quarantine, things were looking fairly bleak. Personally, a few promising projects had fell through, work dried up and no one was buying art. I'm greatly thankful for Artists for Artists in being a beacon of hope for artists in pressing life situations. My grant fund during quarantine was a blessing that afforded me the tools to stay afloat thus far. Thank you kindly, Artists for Artists ❤

I recently worked with Artists for Artists on a virtual exhibition. I have never worked on a fully digital platform, and it was toward the beginning of the pandemic, when we were all in a major slump.

The work that A4A does has been so necessary in such a difficult situation. Not only in providing resources, but in building community. Curating that show pulled me out of what was a very low time, gave me something to focus on that was creative, empowering, and benefitted many artists at once. It also offered the chance to check in directly with the artists I worked with.

My relationship with everyone in the organization has also grown, and we have remained in touch even after the exhibition something I am very grateful for. A4A not only says they are doing positive work in the city, but are actually fulfilling their mission to do positive work and really take care of people.

I was the first recipient of 2019. I had serious medical issues and still in debt after having two strokes no way I could afford to pay the hospital. Artist for Artist helped me to be able to pay for an emergency surgery. I am so very grateful for my Artist family they were so amazing and I will donate , volunteer and always try to be apart of this non profit in any way I can to help them help others !!!!!

I am a professional artist who is lucky to have a steady stream of work. I am fully aware of the fact that this luck may run out any given moment, and that a crisis might be just around the corner, with no one to rely on but myself. Having Artists For Artists is a little ray of light in the darkness of the unknown future. For now I am happy to be on the giving side, with the hopes that will never change, glad this organization was born from artists who understand the field and its risks very well.

Being self employed is a rough road with few safety nets. When you need help it is difficult to find organizations who specifically help artists. Artists for Artists is making a difference by building that web of support. The review process was fairly simple for those of us who are a bit paperwork challenged! And the director is truly interested in the artists. Five stars.

I am so grateful for Artists for Artists. At the beginning of the pandemic when all fine art festivals were either postponed or cancelled, Artists for Artists distributes a nice grant to all of the Bayou City Arts Festival Participants. Members of the Artists for Artists board personally delivered checks to local Houston artists. It was definitely a bright spot during very difficult times!

Really great group of artists and philanthropists in Houston. Their mission is to help artists with grants during times of need. Generally this means medical need but they also helped many local artists with grants during the pandemic. They do this by means of Auctions, fundraisers and art happenings. Always fun and always for the good of artists
