Mission: We are an artist networking community and production company. Our mission is to act as a resource for both emerging and seasoned artists for expanding of production needs, public relations and contacts.
Results: Our productions allow artists opportunities to present their work in new situations and untraditional venues while networking with other artists of different media from around the world. This approach helps artists to gain experience, widen their audience base and connect with other artists. We strive to enrich the communities where our shows are being produced. By bringing artists into new environments to present their work we transform common and hidden spaces into exciting performance venues. Through this approach we are able to create experiences that would not normally be present in the community. In November 2009 we presented a series of successful shows during the second annual New Orleans Fringe Festival; nearly all disciplines of the arts including dance, theater, music, film, and visual arts were represented by the 35 artists who participated.
Target demographics: The constituency that Artist Inc. reaches is diverse in socio-economic status, racially and ethnically varied, male and female of all ages. Our programming is presented in venues that are accessible to individuals with disabilities.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Since 2007, Artist Inc. has worked with 80 artists.
Programs: Throughout the year Artist Inc. produces and presents several limited-run performances, as well as regular programming- The Salon, Un Route, Elysian Fleas and annual fundraiser Voodoo Ballerina King Cake Soiree. “the salon” A quarterly performance event in New Orleans during which all performing artists are invited to present their work. Like an “open mic”, but with an emphasis on networking and project development. “Un Route” A quarterly showcase in New Orleans featuring an average of 6 artists presenting a variety of performing mediums including theater, dance, film, circus arts, photography as well as a visual arts exhibition. “Elysian Fleas” A monthly neighborhood flea market in the courtyard of 527 Elysian Fields. Vendors’ wares range from original art and crafts, vintage clothing, fine jewelry, antiques, rare books, clothing designers, local chefs and more. This flea market is unique because we feature a variety of performing arts such as musicians, dancers, circus arts, theatrical bits and children’s activities both on stage and strolling through the market.
