Mission: The mission of the new york chapter of the arthritis foundation is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases.
Programs: Research - the foundation funds research projects that pertain to improving quality of life issues for those affected by arthritis or assist in finding a cure for, or prevention of, arthritis. 7 research projects were awarded during march 31, 2010.
public health education - the foundation conducts seminars, forums and symposia, and disseminates information about arthritis to the general public and individuals affected by arthritis. 3,000 individuals were reached through the information and referral service, and 40,000 individuals were reached through quarterly newsletters, and 2,700 individuals were reached at community-based education programs.
patient and community services - the foundation conducts programs to help those diagnosed with, or affected by, arthritis. 16 disease management and exercise programs and 85 individuals were provided financial assistance during march 31, 2010.
professional education - the foundation conducts programs and disseminates literature to assist those in the medical field who provide care to individuals diagnosed with, or affected by, arthritis. 375 health professionals were reached during march 31, 2010.
