Mission: ArtHatch's mission is to support creation and exhibition of highly skilled, cutting-edge artwork created by emerging artists from around the globe; to provide affordable, juried studio space to local artists; and to provide free exhibition space, art supplies, mentorship, and education for teen artists. Since 2010 ArtHatch has offered programs that serve underprivileged and at-risk youth primarily in high school. ArtHatch has relationships with principals and teachers from twelve Escondido schools and neighboring schools from San Marcos, Vista, Temecula, Oceanside, Ramona, and San Diego. The programs focus on the development of talent and skill in the visual arts, and they introduce the teens to a wide variety of media such as acrylic, drawing, pen and ink, digital arts and metal-smithing. Local and international artists work directly with students to provide lessons that develop visual awareness along with a functional art vocabulary; hold discussions on art and artists throughout history; teach them to analyze and to recognize a good composition; and provide instruction for skill development and practice.
