Mission: The Art Association of Harrisburg enriches the Capital Region through the promotion of the visual arts with art education and art exhibitions.

Programs: The art association of harrisburg (aah) school serves approximately 800 students annually, both adults and youth. Adult classes are offered in: pottery, sculpture, digital photography, mixed media, drawing, life drawing, pastel, portraiture, oil painting, acrylic painting, wildlife depiction, collage, jewelry, and landscape painting. Classes for youth ages 5 through 15 are offered in: drawing, painting, pottery, fantasy art, anime and manga. There is also a class for toddlers and parents. Classes are offered in four semesters annually, both in studios at the main building on front street and in four studios in reservoir park. Instructors are all independent contractors and practicing professional artists. Scholarships are offered to students with financial need to attend aah classes.
aah presents 10 exhibitions annually in the historic mansion on front street: two membership exhibitions with up to 200 participating artists, six invitational exhibitions with 4 or 5 artists per show, an art school annual exhibition featuring works by aah students and faculty, and an international juried exhibition including 50 to 100 artists from the region and across the united states. Additionally, aah presents 50 exhibitions yearly in community sites in the area, featuring member artists' works in three-month-long rotating shows.
the art association mansion houses three classroom/studios, five exhibition galleries, and a small gallery to provide space for artists to market their works. The galleries are open to the public 7 days per week, with no admission charge. Gallery hours are: 9:30 am to 9 pm monday through thursday, 9:30 am to 4 pm friday, 10 am to 4 pm saturday, and 2 to 5 pm sunday. The association provides free career counseling to artists, and strives to promote all artists' works to the public. Aah founded harrisburg gallery walk 27 years ago and organizes it annually as a free walking/driving tour of all harrisburg exhibition sites. 27 galleries are included in 2015. The art association maintains a permanent collection of works donated by artists and collectors over the course of the organization's existence, which is periodically exhibited to the public.
