AHF is an outstanding nonprofit dedicated to supporting the impressive National Museum of the United States Army. There can be no worthier cause than telling the story of America's greatest institution.
The Foundation supports the newly opened Natl. Museum of the US Army in VA. My family and I spent 3 hours on our first visit to the museum, and we still needed more time to go through all the galleries. It definitely exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed watching the films and seeing the art collection most of all. Great theater! The volunteers are one of the best parts about the Museum -- very personable and knowledgeable. I don't have any association with the Army, but I still wanted to see the exhibits and learn more about the history of the Army. Looking forward to seeing the outdoor features of the Museum next!
I have visited the museum several times and it is always amazing to see the exhibits and visit the gift shop. I will be there again, March 22, 2023 and plan to look up the brick I purchased for my mother.
I think of the museum as My ARMY MUSEUM because of all of the donations I have made. Thank you.

If you are looking for Army history , you need not look any further than the National Museum Of The United States Army. Each gallery is full of history, artifacts , stories and more . I would suggest any visitor to start the tour at the Army Theater . The short video has clips from each campaigns in the Army’s history , very inspiring.
This museum exceeded my expectations. Exceptional exhibits and soldier stories.Walking through the brick walkway was amazing. The volunteers are so knowledgeable with my questions. A wonderful soviener store. A delishous Cafe and even a great flute player. Totally a great experience!
In 1814 congress recommended that the Army and Navy take measures to preserve and display for the public "flags, standards and colors as have been or may hearafter be taken...from their enemies...."
It took a while! The National Museum of the U. S. Army is an outstanding museum, well organized, loads of great stories, photos, uniforms, artifacts, and yes, a few flags. It tells the story from the Revolution to today. Kudos to the hundreds of people who worked on it, donated money or artifacts, and to those who have or will visit. It's a living museum -- see special exhibits (most recently Bob Hope So Ready for Laughter" from the WW-2 Museum in New Orleans) and continuing updates. Of particular help -- well versed docents are available to guide and amplify. Some of the automation can be a challenge, but a few simple tips make it accessible.
Unlike most DC museums, it is easily reached and has ample (free) parking. While on the Ft. Belvoir reservation, it is "outside the wire" so there is no problem with post security. It is also easily H/C accessible.
The National Museum of the United States Army is an incredible organization. My husband served this country honorably in Europe. We purchased a brick to commemorate his service and made a trip to see it and tour the museum. Without a doubt, while the organization is great, their mission is exemplified by honoring the greatness of those who serve our country with a fantastic museum that every young person in America should visit.
I am a founding sponsor of the National Museum of the United States Army. My membership dates back to 2013. I’m celebrating a decade of supporting the Army Historical Foundation and the museum this year.
It has been nothing short of a miracle to watch the museum go from a vision to a reality in 10 years. It would have been sooner if not for the Covid pandemic period.
I visited the museum last year and spent the entire day looking at exhibits and learning about how the Army paralleled society throughout our history. It was educational and fascinating.
I hope you take the time to visit Virginia and see the National Museum of the United States Army.
My experience with the Army Historical Foundation & The National Museum of the Army began with the purchase of two bricks in the midst of construction of the museum. One brick was for my father & one for my uncle. I requested that the bricks be placed "touching" in some way so that the Murray brothers were together forever. I was there for the grand opening of the museum & was brought to tears to see that the museum honored my request to honor my heroes. The museum itself also went way beyond my expectations. The attention to detail to honor all those who have served, and continue to serve is remarkable. And it continues to grow!
I highly recommend you visit the museum. And I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
The National Museum of the US Army is definitely a "WOW!" with state-of-the-art and interactive exhibits. The docents are very knowledgeable and helpful. I am very eager to return.
Great helpful , responsive staff. We used the venue of the National Museum of the US Army to perpetuate the legacy of the Pennsylvania Military College, which cased its colors when the class of 1972 graduated. We worked with the Army Historical Foundation Staff to design, fabricate and install a unit tribute which was installed in Nov 2022. Positive reaction from alumni who have visited the site or have seen a photo of it. The literature provided by the Staff explained the process clearly and concisely and they were willing to answer any questions or concerns about proceeding. The cost was most reasonable. Highly recommend for any organization affiliated with the US Army to consider having a unit tribute installed to recognize and honor its service and history; it will proudly be displayed along side so many others bordering the Wall of Remembrance along Warriors' Walk.
My family and I had a great experience at the National Army Museum in Fort Belvoir, VA. The building itself is sleek and modern and, inside, the entrance hall is very beautiful when the sun shines through the multicolored streamers on the ceiling. I'd suggest seeing the introductory movie first, then going on to the exhibits, which are grouped by historical eras from the Revolutionary War to the present day. Especially loved the WWII and Vietnam War exhibits. Great gift shop. There's a bulletin board there where you can leave a note of thanks to a soldier. Admission was free, but I joined as a member because there's too much to see in one day -- we'll be back!
