If I could give this place zero stars I would. It's a bait and switch operation - beware. We were at an adoption event found a sweet dog and decided to adopt after spending 20 minutes with it and no issues worth noting. There was no mention of behavior issues or medical issues just a nice paragraph listing all the great things. Within the first few hours of being home we started noticing some behavior issues and by the end of the night the dog was charging and snapping at us. We stated looking through the paperwork and there it was .. a three page breakdown from the original Humane Society on his aggressive behaviors and how this dog was on the kill list for these issues. By the next morning I'd been bitten - hard multiple times unprovoked. We decided this was not a good fit, and called the shelter to bring the dog back in. We told them the issues how we had gotten bit and that this dog needed professional help and to not be around any children. they said we could get a credit towards another dog, but wouldn't get our money back and after 30 days the credit became a "donation". We had the dog for less than 24 hours. The NEXT day that same dog was posted on their page available for adoption with the same cute message about how loving and great he is. No mention of the behavior issues and no mention of not being around children. And the medical issues.. the dog was also excessively scratching itself and we'd noticed he had a limp, poor hygiene and had puked 2 times while in our care.

To note- We did some digging, and the same dog had been previously adopted out before us and returned for the same reason 3 days later.

The shelter was absolutely disgusting on the inside... everything was dirty, falling apart and cluttered. I mean paperwork, old pizza boxes on the front desk, boxes and boxes of unorganized stuff EVERYWHERE, cabinets, falling apart, walls peeling, dirty floors. This place needs to be shut down. They go out find dogs on the kill list and adopt them out not mentioning any issues and then the dogs get returned and they do it all over again.

AZ Small Dog rescue are scammers and fraudulent. Buyer beware... Run far far away

I adopted Luke a few years ago. I renamed him Luce which means light in Italian. I was told he had a little trouble walking and shortly after adopting him, I realized he had a lot of problems walking. I spent a lot of money on him and he was definitely more expensive than the $60 I spent on his adoption fee.

But I loved him so much. He tried so hard to live his best life even as he lost mobility. He couldn’t walk but could bounce happily around the green area as I chased him. It broke my heart to lose him. I only had him for 10 months and I still have his picture by my bed.

Beth and her staff at AZ Small dog rescue are amazing! We adopted Cubbie, a beautiful, high anxiety pup after visiting as a family three times and fostering to adopt for a month. It was clear everyone at the shelter has a soft spot for Cub, and they care so much about finding the right home for each pet. He lived under the director's desk for months because that is where he felt safe. With his high anxiety level there was no way we would consider NOT keeping Cubbie here as his forever home. Every sign of relaxation and comfort is a heartwarming win for us as we love Cubbie back to a normal dog life.

We were pleased to have interaction with AZ Small Animal Rescue. We have found the love of our life, a little chihuahua mix who we have named Dory. Dory’s foster mom was so concerned and had nothing but the best interest of this little girl in mind. We were scrutinized carefully which made us appreciate the level of caring provided for the animals in their care. AZ Small Animal Rescue is THE BEST!!!!

Last Saturday we visited ASDR to look for a dog to adopt. We were very impressed to see how clean the shelter was and all the dogs looked well cared for.
We found a 5 year old Chihuahua mix named Rory. After spending a little time with him, we knew he was the perfect fit for us. The adoption fee was reasonable and we received all his papers.
Since we brought him home he has made himself very comfortable. He loves to be pet and loved on. We are so very pleased wth him.
Thank you to everyone at ASDR

I would like to start off by saying that the people at Arizona Small Dog Rescue are a godsend to the animals they rescue! This was our first time adopting a rescue dog and it went way better than we had anticipated. Our 3 year old dachshund needed a companion that would be a great match for him and we found that in Mila, formerly known as Pot Pie. The two of them get along so well and Cusco has taught Mila how to use the doggie door and where to go potty. Mila needs only minimum training to correct any negative behavior at best.
I was impressed at how much information was in Mila's file and how much care she had received. The adoption process was smooth and fees were more than reasonable considering the costs to take care of these dogs. Once again thank you for all your hard work!

We arrived at the Arizona Small Dog Rescue yesterday when they opened the doors at 11:00. Workers helped us meet Kevin and we instantly fell in love. He was a little nervous but gave us both kisses. We had another dog also picked out before we arrived but they said she might be a bite risk to small children, we decided against her. They thought Ember might fit as she had been with Kevin at the shelter and they seemed to get along well. Ember was terrified at first but sweet and we knew she would accept us soon enough.

Once home Kevin bonded instantly with Doug while I sat on the floor to allow Ember time to check me out. Once she came to me we watched a movie with both of our laps occupied. Both of them follow us around and sit on our laps every chance they get and loved sleeping with us. Our new little fur babies have adopted us.

We can’t thank Arizona Small Dog Rescue for helping us find the next addition to our family.

We had such a great experience adopting our 5 year old Chihuahua mix from AZ Small Dog Rescue. We wanted to spend time with 3 different dogs, and we never felt rushed. We were given the backstory on the dog we chose, and AZSDR was so excited for us. One of the employees even had tears in her eyes. We felt like the dogs are really taken care of and treated well. I highly, highly recommend AZSDR. It was a great experience.

We just adopted our new family member from AZ Small Dogs a week ago and couldn't be happier!! 4 months ago I lost my little 10 year old girl to heart failure. We were all devastated. I have been following them for some time now and new that when we were ready for a new member we were going to adopt from them. They posted last Tuesday night and I happened to catch them post little "Cleopatra", showed my husband and asked if I could go meet her. I took a lunch break from work the next day to be at their facility when they open and that was that. The staff is so nice! They answered all my questions, they even put a hold on her for us to wait for my husband, son and other dog to show up for a meet and greet! We changed her name to Dobbbie and she certainly lives up to her new name! If we are ever in the market for another small dog, AZ Small Dogs is the place we will be headed!

I came into AzSDR because when I googled them I saw they also had larger dogs available. After being greeted by friendly staff at the front desk, they told me I was welcome to take a look at the pups that were available. I was walking through the hall and noticed how many people they had caring for the animals and how much room the furry friends had to be comfortable and play. I got to the last doggy room on the left and there she was! Our beloved Nikita. Staff asked if I would like to see her out in a play yard and I said yes please! They took their time with us and answered any and all questions I had. I had to go back to talk to my husband about Nikita and shortly after I returned to bring Nikita home. The staff was very organized and provided all documentations and medical records for me to take home with us. Not only did they provide us with a collar, harness, leash, but Nikita was also fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and came with some pretty awesome coupons to help us on our new journey! I highly recommend AzSDR!

Everyone was friendly and helpful. We had lots of questions and Ginna was so patient in answering all of them. She even followed up with us a couple of times after the adoption to see how things were going. The organization seems to really care about the dogs and in finding the best homes for them. I adopted an adorable small terrier a week ago. I was worried because he was so timid, even though they told me he would be timid. I wasn't sure I could deal with him so I called the foster mom. She (Sam) was great ! She answered my questions and encouraged me to try for 24 hours more and I did. Today, Camden and I are very happy. He is adjusting and coming out of his shell. Thank you for being some patient with me and helping me deal with my own worries. The whole process from meeting the dog to meeting the foster mom and taking Camden home went very smoothly. Great experience from the application process to our initial introduction to the ride home. Lilliana (Lilly) is the sweetest little girl and has fit into our home and our lives seamlessly. I had wanted to find a playmate for Izzy and for the first few days they were getting used to each other but now play and have zoomies together. Where one goes, the other goes, after less than a week. She has had no accidents in the house, doesn't chew anything but the toys and bones. We wanted to get another dog after our beloved CeCe passed away in June. We knew we wanted to adopt a rescue, as there are so many needy dogs out there (please spay/nurture you pet). Really liked what dogs ASDR had to offer and liked all the positive reviews. We went down and talked to staff on what we were looking for and our experience. They were upfront and honest about all the dogs we asked about, setting out the pros and cons of each. We narrowed it down and visited with a Jack Russell/Dachshund mix named Kanga. It was obvious from the first that she was a special dog and the one for us. Staff spent time going over her history and personality. Once we decided Kanga was right for us the adoption process was quick and easy. They were well prepared, had a full medical file on her and explained everything thoroughly.
Kanga has been a blessing to our family. She is a sweet and loving dog and it’s obvious that the folks at ASDR are working hard to save these less fortunate dog and find them the right forever home. We can’t say enough about them and their mission. We are so happy with our experience and their dedication, that we have started our own fundraiser (FB birthday) for them. We can hardly wait to get Kanga a companion from them.

I have been looking for a dog upwards of 5 years now, and was starting to lose hope on finding my adventure pal. I had tried numerous times to adopt a pup but somehow kept losing my spot to someone quicker to the punch or seemingly more adept at housing a dog. Luckily, I put my name out there for a dog that was being fostered through the Small Dog Rescue and found the perfect little guy for me! Everything has been great ever since, and it has been amazing having some of the perks and vet visits out of the way prior to adoption. The process was fairly easy, and Bean (formerly Cliff) and I have been doing amazing ever since! Thank you!!

The staff was helpful and kind at the shelter. The dogs were easy to view and had biographies available to read as you observed them. I went in intending to find a young male dog to fill the empty space that our family dog had left (he passed away over the Summer). However, I ended up taking home a baby girl. She has been name "Cookie" and has warmed up to the whole family already. She is spunky, very intelligent and is already a part of our family. I do wish that there was more than one sitting room though, the wait for that was long. Thank you to the Arizona Small Dog Rescue for saving these precious little ones.

We always get rescue dogs, so we have some experience with rescue agencies. Our last little girl died six months ago age 16 and we were ready for a new little friend. Nancy's picture and description were on line and seemed to be a good fit so we went in to meet her. The COVID precautions were in place and were excellently adhered to, so things were a little unusual, but they had a room where we could spend time with her. We were told of her behaviors that we needed to watch out for - none of them were going to be a problem in our setting. She is an excellent fit for us and settled in very quickly. The building isn't fancy, but on a non-profit rescue budget we wouldn't expect it to be, and the dogs are well cared for and the staff is very helpful.

I had been searching the internet for quite some time looking for a dog. I found myself relying on the AZ Small Dog Rescue site exclusively. They presented their dogs “warts and all” so I could make a well informed decision that was a good fit for both of us. When I found what I thought was a good match I scheduled a meet and greet. I found the facility clean and the dogs well cared for. The adoption counselor was very friendly and answered all of my questions to the best of her ability. (Not much was known of his prior life) I was given a lot of one on one time to see how we got along together without feeling any pressure. Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend ASDR to anyone looking for a great dog.

Truly the best shelter I've been to in the greater Phoenix area. There were plenty of dogs to choose from and each dog had a very lengthy description, which included the good, bad, and the ugly (which is greatly appreciated). We happened to be there on a high adopt day, meaning they had multiple "preferred" pets for adoption (e.g. puppies, purebreds, etc). The pup we looked at happened to be one of the preferred pets as he was a 6 month old puppy, though we originally went in to look at a different dog. When we visited with the dog, we had our other dog with us so they could meet. They took applications for this dog all day and then chose what they considered to be the best fit family (only done for preferred pets). When we went to pick him up, they provided a packet of every single thing they had on him including vet records, shot records, and his bio. They also included a complimentary vet visit, 30 days of pet insurance, microchip, neutering, care and home-introduction instructions, and a leash/harness. He has truly been the best puppy and we're so happy they chose us. Additionally, for a shelter that doesn't require a fee for owners to surrender their animal, I'd consider the option fee to be quite reasonable ($350).

I started with this organization as a foster and have now adopted two dogs from AZSDR. I was very interested in the dog rescue world and when I reached out to them, I found an amazing world of support from other volunteers and the shelter staff. Sometimes in our corporate-minded world, we expect things to be quick and fast and immediate responses from everyone, but many in the general public forget that this organization is almost entirely volunteer driven. Volunteers who are giving their personal, unpaid time to drive dogs from the shelter to events, bathe dogs early Saturday mornings, transport dogs to and from vet appointments, pick up dogs who need to be rescued from all over Arizona, accept foster dogs and puppies into their homes like family and so many, many more duties that go along with animal care. I encourage everyone to volunteer at the shelter or events and spend time learning about the rescue world. The dogs would love to have your attention and snuggles- even if you aren't in the market to adopt. Give YOUR time to help make the organization thrive. Invite a scared, pregnant or sick dog into your home and show them that people can be trusted and if you find that special connection, you just may find yourself a new family member!

Last year when I started looking for another dog to help my older one stay a little spunky, I had looked at a couple shelters and the humane society but couldn’t seem to get enough info from anyone or find a good fit. A friend recommended Small Dog Rescue so I went on the site and fell in love with this picture of an adorable 3 month old chihuahua. I immediately sent a message and got a respond back within the next day from Lisa Scott her current foster. Lisa was very thorough in answering my questions and I could tell she cared deeply about all her fosters going to good homes. We had a phone conversation about meeting up, and the next day I went over to her house which she graciously invited me to to meet the puppies. From then I fell in love all over again and we sat and talked about living conditions, my job requirements and basic questions to make sure I was able to care for a puppy. You could tell Lisa cared a lot about her job and making sure she made the right choice and I’m so happy she let me take my little one. From them Lisa brought over my sweet puppy who is now named Lany, and did a home check. From then Lany got to meet my other dog Sammy and I was so happy Lisa felt comfortable enough to leave her with me. I still give Lisa updates via Facebook and such and still so happy with Small Dog Rescue! The rescue facility itself was so convenient for little Lanys vaccines and well organized. I can’t thank them enough for my girl!

I had been looking to adopt a small dog for awhile and was drawn in by the eyes of one that was being fostered by Lisa from Arizona Small Dog Rescue. I contacted Lisa who got back to me right away and arranged a meet-and-greet for the following day. I walked in to discover that she had two tiny puppies, who were not related but came into her care within a day of each other, and they had already become best buds in the few weeks they were together.

I was so impressed with Lisa. You could tell she only wants what's best for the pups and the potential adopter and I immediately was aware of the dedication she has to fostering. I had a million questions and she patiently answered them all. She even made herself available to me to answer questions after I brought them home.

I was also impressed with how organized and professional the process was. The puppies were already spayed, had their first vaccines, and I was provided with detailed histories and paperwork for them.

Lisa didn't push me to take both puppies and let me sit there for quite some time while I tried to decide what to do. I was already pushing it bringing a puppy home to a household with 3 indoor cats and a huge lab and the thought of bringing home both puppies was nerve-wracking. I wondered what I would tell my husband. Whoopsie-daisy...I got two!

I have had the pups for 10 months now. I'm thankful that Lisa gave them such a good start to their life. They are healthy and happy and were meant to be together forever. Oh, their names are Whoopsie and Daisy.

We recently adopted a dog from Arizona Small Dog Rescue, this is my first rescue dog and it won’t be my last. The experience we had and still continue to have with them has been absolutely amazing! We already had a dog and decided it was time to get another one. When we did the introduction between the two we knew we had to bring him home. I love what Arizona Small Dog Rescue does for all of these dogs. We are so grateful for them for taking in our little guy so he could come home to his forever home with us. I want to especially thank Lisa Scott for her guidance and always taking the time to answer my questions I may have. You will forever have our support and we will continue to donate to help your cause in anyway we can. As you can see from the photo our Katie and Buddy love each other! Thanks again!

I adopted a dog from this rescue. She was in the care of the most amazing foster mom named Lisa. Maggie, our new dog had a rough start in life and this foster mom was determined to find a peaceful, loving home for her. Yep, you may have a home check, these dogs deserve it.
We have a great backyard, grass, block fence, doggie door, etc.
not a single dog in this rescue goes without.
Toys, beds, healthy food, volunteers to play with, careful foster homes, medical care, micro chipped, etc.
it is a true non profit with every dime going to the dogs. I happily paid the fee and now Maggie runs this house.
Seriously, maybe there is a home check, maybe they want the new dog to meet your other dog, maybe they have a thousand questions for you, but remember they are in this forever, as in forever families. I’d be disappointed if they didn’t care that much.
Keep up the great work AZSDR!
And thank you for Maggie :)

We had a wonderful experience getting our rescue dog from AZ small dog rescue.
They are the absolute best at what they do.
Lisa Scott came over our home to make sure our dog was going to be put in a caring environment. She was very kind and wanted to make sure the dog we were adopting was going to a good home. When it comes time to get another rescue dog, we’ll be going back to them for sure. I would highly recommend AZ small dog rescue. They are completely professional and really do love the dogs.

Well I can see I already did a review in 2016. It's 3 years later and I am even more proud to be involved with this rescue. I have been fostering and volunteering since early 2014 and have never once regretted my decision to support AZSDR. This is truly a no kill rescue. No animal is ever euthanized due to cost and all animals receive the best of care no matter what their circumstance is. The staff and management is top notch and their teamwork is incredible.

I don't know how to begin, we are so disappointed. Two years ago we rescued our Little Dog named Newt from this place, at the time they called him Zargon.
We wanted to get him a ply mate so we looked to Arizona Small Dog Rescue and found one that we thought would be good, her name was Regina and was with a foster named Lisa.
She does not except phone calls only text messages so it is very hard to communicate with her as she will not answer yours.
We have a second home in Show Low that was too far for a home inspection, we understand this. So we sent her a text that we would be at our other home in Surprise, and she could come be and inspect that home and see pictures of the Show low property.
No response from her till we sent an email to the office.
So that is why the 2 stars.

I received an email about puppies up for adoption. They were rescued from Tuba City and I called to inquire about one. The foster mom emailed me back right away. Excited that he was up for adoption still I sent my daughter to go check him out. She drove 30 miles to go see him. Foster mom invited her in to meet and greet. She was delighted with him and called and said Mom we are on our way home. He has been a delight in our home and a great buddy for our Nala. I thank Arizona small dog rescue for the opportunity to adopt him cause without them, he wouldn’t be around today. Also the foster mom (Michelle) for raising Shadow. He is now called Sully & weights 30lbs and enjoying life to the fullest!

My Aunt and I saw a few of the animals at a local PetsMart this weekend. We live in Wittmann AZ and my aunt instantly fell in love with one of the dogs. We were about to adopt one, when the manager asked us where we lived. Since we live in Wittmann, we were told we couldn't rescue an animal because there are Coyotes and Owls in Wittmann and a dog would need to be over 20lbs. to live at our home. Without knowing anything about myself, or our habits, we were denied the ability to rescue an animal who needed a loving home. My family and I, who all live in Wittmann, have been apart of small animal rescues for the past 20 years. We have rescued a total of nine Miniature Pinchers ourselves, all live in Wittmann, and none have ever been taken by an owl, nor eaten by a coyote. To dismiss a family without cause, and to deny an animal a great home is an atrocity. Employees/ownership of this rescue should evaluate their personal bias' and their customer service skills, because making a personal judgement about the potential adoptors, is simply pathetic.

After reading more about this rescue online, I am quite happy we did not adopt with this shelter, as they seem to be very shady, and have numerous complaints. After my experience, and the relevant experience of others posted online, this shelter should be put under a microscope and the animals should go to a shelter where their needs are looked after rather than the egos of the individuals who are tasked with animal care. I would never recommend this shelter to anyone, and I would caution anyone considering utilizing this rescue to choose a rescue with a better reputation.

A little over two years ago I saw an ad stating Emergency Foster needed for two weeks for a tiny puppy. I thought, why not? So I went to Arizona Small Dog Rescue, filled out a foster application and started my fostering adventure. I would not understand the day I was approved as a foster how enriched my life would be by being able to help homeless or injured dogs.
Late one Saturday night I saw a dog posted for adoption, Sunday morning I showed my hubby the photo, we excitedly went to meet Freckles and fell in love, we named her Sunshine and she is now a wonderful part of our family!

My husband and I adopted our first SMALL dog from AZ Small Dog Rescue in January. Matt is a 10 year old deaf poodle who needed at lot of care when he was surrendered as a stray 2 months earlier. ASDR committed the resources to have a full dental extraction as Matt's teeth were past redemption. I was so impressed that the organization would do whatever was necessary for to ensure he would find a forever home. The staff was responsive to all of our questions and we had more than a few as we already had 2 big dogs at home.
Matt is a wonderful addition to our household. He is such a spunky little guy that is impossible not to love him and want to make the rest of his life the very best is can be.

I love AZ Small Dog Rescue. I have had the wonderful opportunity to adopt two amazing dogs from them. It started out with me going to their facility to look at a dog I saw posted. That dog wasn't available, but there was a sad looking dog all by herself in the corner. I asked what her story was and was told she needed a foster family to help her get over her bad skin rash. She looked pretty bad. I thought, I could do that. Well, we ended up falling in love with that little rat looking dog, now she is a soft, fluffy, forever friend. She needed a friend, so I contacted AZSDR again and they introduced me to another perfect dog for our family. Because of the great experience and wonderful, animal loving people working there, I decided to volunteer with them whenever I can. They have nothing but the best interest towards all animals and work to find furever friends for dogs and families. Keep up the great work!

I first fostered 5 German Shepherd/Lab for AZSDR and fell in love with one of them. His name is Harry and when he came to my house, he and his siblings had ticks and horrible diarrhea. The previous owner couldnt take care of these dogs and surrended them to the shelter. The staff at the shelter walked me though the healing process and of course paid for all the medical expenses. I ended up adopting Harry and couldn't be happier. I now volunteered for almost 2 years now and I am always in awed of the care, devotion and love the people associated with this shelter has for all these dogs and cats. This is a top notch rescue. I donate to a lot of animal charities, including rescues, all which I tour. Why I support AZSDR? They save over 1000 dogs a year, most from the county shelter, get them spayed/neutered, and find them homes. Where do they keep all these dogs? Well they have a small shelter and the rest are in foster homes. The shelter is just that, a dog shelter, but the dogs are not in little cages but in large rooms with many other dogs for socialization and play. Why do you see negative reviews? Well with any rescue you have a rare adoption go poorly. It happens maybe 1 out of 100 times. But that 1 person is the loudest on the reviews! People happy with their adopted dogs hardly ever write reviews. Same with college students reviewing professors - only the F students write reviews and complain. So please take negative reviews with a grain of salt. I'm a doctor, and I fostered a puppy a long time ago, seemed healthy when with me but got parvo and died after adoption. Still makes me ill to think about it. Did I mean to adopt out a sick puppy? Of course not! But with dogs coming from county shelters sometimes they get sick after adoption with all rescues but the rescue NEVER adopts out puppies they know are sick on purpose. That is absurd. Finally you do not rescue for the money. What a joke. Rescues lose money on the dogs and only survive based on donations from people like us. So please donate to one of the most effective loving rescues I've ever known.

I wrote this review in September, 2014. At this point, I was not a volunteer: "I am in awe of the work this rescue does to save and place pets--7 days a week, several adoption events a week in different locations, hundreds of social media posts. I am always excited to see who was adopted today:) I adopted Lily from a foster in May 2014. It was my first time adopting from a foster and it was the best adoption experience ever. Lily was healthy and well known by her foster, so I had full knowledge of the type of dog she is. We vetted the fit together and ultimately, Lily's home found her. Good job AZSDR! Ya'll Rock!"

Here's my update for today: I became a donor in May, 2014 and In November 2014, I started volunteering with this rescue (I volunteer with another one as well) and my review has not changed. The volunteers and fosters work tirelessly toward placing dogs, reuniting lost dogs and rescuing dogs without bias. They have acted on improving the facility and their operation based on past critical reviews. I commend their effort in that arena. "It takes a village" applies with rescues and AZSDR has a pretty awesome village. I really like volunteering at events and experiencing the joy of pet matches with adopters:)

Both of my daughters have adopted a dog from the Arizona Small Dog Rescue. I went with one of them to tour the facility and loved all the pretty and bright colors. It didn't seem there was a lot of staff around but the gal at the front desk was helpful and cheery, made us feel very welcome. The other staff who were in the dog rooms cleaning even smiled and waved at me through the window.

I was hesitant to go with my one daughter because I thought it would make me very sad to see all the dogs without homes, but while the thought of them not having homes is a little sad, it is nice to see them in a friendly place, in rooms where they're social with other dogs instead of in individual little crates, and knowing this group of people will take care of them until they land in a home, I felt better about a "dog shelter."

I'm a retired senior and probably not in a position to adopt a dog, but if I ever decide to, this is where I'll go. I believe my daughters both got wonderful dogs who are great additions to our family.

I've been a volunteer for AZSDR for almost three years and day by day, my pride in this organization, its staff, its volunteers, and director, continues to grow. I have been blessed to participate in helping dogs with this group who helps dogs recover from serious injuries, gets needed surgery for dogs who maybe were hit by a car; saves lives of dogs in line to be euthanized at the County shelter, and puts more effort into reuniting lost dogs with their owners than any other rescue I'm aware of.

AZSDR also cares about the dogs -- often times when there is a pair of pups who's lost a family, AZSDR takes the time to make sure the dogs get adopted together. They've lost a family, but they don't need to lose each other. It can't happen every time, but they sure do try, and I've seen a pretty good track record.

Being involved, I see what goes on day in and day out -- I see what goes into this rescue and how hard the people work to make this the best it can be, and to do the best possible job for the dogs.

Couldn't be more proud of this group.

These people are horrible. We adopted a 9 week old puppy. I asked information on the health of the puppy and was told it was not available and his medical records would be sent. He had a small cough and I asked if he was ok. They said it could be because he was nervous or he could have a little kennel cough that would be no problem. His adoption was $300 and had to be in cash. No receipt was given. That night he got seriously ill. Cough was horrible and he was running a high fever. I took him to my vet the very next morning and was told he was a very sick little puppy. I emailed the Small Dog Rescue of my concern and was told I signed a paper that stated he was in good health and that I should have taken him to their vet (which I had no information on). They stated that he and his siblings had been treated for parvo. That really upset me because I should have been told that when I inquired about the cough. It wasn't parvo but pneumonia. In my personal opinion my puppy was terribly sick and they were aware of it. To me this is abuse on their part. This pup could have died from lack of medical attention of their part. After everything said and done $1,000 later he is improving. Shame on this facility. They are shady and should be closed down.

This is a non-profit that seems very shady. They deal ONLY in cash and do not offer receipts and their records on their dogs they are adopting are lacking at best. They do not vet the dogs upon entering their rescue, unless they need to be spayed/neutered.

There are over 120 dogs in a 1500 sq foot area, as well as a large number at an undisclosed private location. While the name suggests SMALL DOG RESCUE, there are a large number of dogs over 40 pounds, so the name is misleading.

The facility is filthy and a hazard to the health of the dogs kept there. I would strongly suggest steering clear of this 'rescue'.

Angi, the owner is rude and makes up stories along the way. She tries to threaten you so she is assured her 'adoption' fees which are high and cover NOTHING.

I 'adopted' (paid ransom) for a dog to get him out of there and he was sick and 60% of his body weight.

Another dog was trapped there for 7 months in a 10 x 10 enclosure with up to 5 other larger dogs and no socialization, no outdoor time...that dog's ransom was paid as well.

We have less dogs in the building now and strive to keep it as sanitary as possible. We do utilize fosters to help take care of animals who are ill or would otherwise not do well in a shelter environment. Every foster home is inspected prior to approval.
