Programs: Outreach to the public is the primary function of the organization. Each chapter conducts activities to educate about native plants and aspects related to landscaping, restoration and protection of habitat for native plants. Some events are for members only; others are open to the general public. Activities include sponsoring educational, native-plant garden tours; tabling at community events; conducting workshops, field trips, and educational speaker events; holding native plant sales; mentoring school projects; and responding to requests for presentations at schools, hoa's and senior citizen groups. Service is measured by the number of participants at events and the number of new members.
the arizona native plant society provides a limited number of publication grants to nonprofit organizations or individuals for publications or related projects, sunch as artwork, that contribute to the scientific knowledge of native plants, public understanding of native plants and their environments, or native plant conservation. Publication grants are made to assist with the costs of disseminating original work concerning arizona native plants within the biogeographical context of these specie
publications -- "happenings" is our state newsletter covering activities and opportunities for all chapters. "the plant press" is our state journal covering native plant sciences. These publications are mailed to members and are also available to the public through our website. Member mailings average approximately 600, including exchanges with other state native plant societies. Various educational brochures are developed by volunteer committees and are available to members and to the public th
