Causes: Homeless & Housing, Low-Income & Subsidized Rental Housing
Mission: To provide housing assistance to low-income families, persons with disabilities and seniors.
Programs: Section 8 program: the housing authority subsidized rents for 2,372 families, persons with disabilities, and seniors.
low rent public housing: the housing authority currently provides housing for 351 low income families, persons with disabilities, and seniors.
dept of housing and urban development grants: the housing authority offers after school activities, extra-curricular sports programs and the summer lunch program for the children of our public housing family units (157). The senior/disabled units (194) have a transportation, health education classes and bread program available to them as well.
the housing authority operates 20 tax credit units for families. Additionally, we are able to assist another 157 families and seniors through complexes and houses we own.
