Mission: The archer school for girls is an educational community that supports and challenges young women to discover their passions and realize their true potential by a) providing a rigorous, integrated college preparatory curriculum that fosters critical thinking and intellectual curiosity b) creating and sustaining a collaborative teaching and learning environment that explores and refines the ways girls learn best c) helping girls to become leaders and life-long learners and strengthening their capacity to contribute positively to their communities d) strengthening girls' voices in a diverse and culturally rich environment e) embracing possibility, promoting challenge-seeking and support risk-taking f) encouraging girls to develop meaningful relationships with peers and faculty rooted in honesty, respect and responsibility g) and graduating courageous, committed and ethical young women who take responsibility for their own physical, financial and emotional well-being.
Programs: Archer is an independent college preparatory school for girls, with approximately 495 students from grades six to twelve during year ended june 30, 2017. Founded on the compelling research on how girls learn best, the archer school educates girls and young women to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century. Every girl's voice is encouraged and strengthened in an atmosphere where honesty, respect and responsibility are the cornerstones of daily school life. Leadership experiences are central to each girl's development, along with meaningful involvement in the community. Critical thinking fosters intellectual curiosity, which develops a pattern of life-long learning. Archer graduates courageous, committed and capable young women of character who take responsibility for their own physical, financial and emotional well-being and who possess the psychological flexibility and confidence to confront the significant changes of their lifetimes. Each year, archer graduates approximately 65 young women. Almost 24% of our students receive some form of financial assistance. The school is dedicated to diversity. 18% of the faculty are persons of color. In addition, 39% of our students are of color, reflecting the diversity of the city of los angeles.
