Such a wonderful bird rescue! They take excellent care of all the birds that come through, ensuring they have the best food, toys and living/play spaces. Everything is kept clean and I look forward to all the loving and educational videos they post!
WOW!!! So hard to put into words the love, dedication and commitment it takes to operate a rescue such as this. I have personally adopted a bird from them, support them in every way possible and have friends who have adopted from them. APR is all about the birds without question, without doubt. Sonya and her team are angels in the avian world. They are an example that we should all follow.

The founders and volunteer crew are excellent throughout the adoption process. They conduct an interview and guide you to meet the birds that fit your lifestyle and personality. The founders and volunteers are knowledgeable and continue to be a resource long after the adoption is final. This is how we met and fell in love with our sweet adopted APR parrot. It is clearly important to them to see their parrots flourish in their new forever homes. All Parrot Rescue is a community that encourages learning and supporting each other to be the best caretakers we can.
I’ve been in complete awe of the amazing dedication, love, heart and soul, that day after day, year after year, Sonya and Steve devote to saving these beautiful birds. The rescue itself is a magical place where the love for what they do really shows. It’s a place that I could literally spent hours in fascination watching as these birds fly and play, in areas that have been totally designed to allow these birds the freedom to just be. The amount of hard to work to just feed and keep up with the cleaning blows my mind, I have 3 Macaws, 2 adopted from APR and making their food and keeping their room clean is a lot of work, I can’t even begin to imaging what it would be like feeding and cleaning up having 30 if not more birds on a daily basis, its totally mind boggling. If you are thinking about adding a parrot in your life, please educate yourself prior to trying to adopt. Adopting a parrot is a commitment not to take lightly, it’s a lifetime job. Educate yourself not only on the parrot itself, but the feeding, the vetting, the massive amount of enrichment toys(many only lasting a day), the money and time that is mandatory to owning a parrot. When you’ve done the many hours of research and feel you can live up to all the demands needed to have such amazing animal in your life, only then may I suggest you contact APR for fostering or adopting. Please adopt rather than buying from a breeder, there are more birds that need homes then any of the rescues can take in. Please consider donating to APR, so Sonya and Steve can continue their quest in saving these magnificent birds.
Best rescue I’ve ever seen! Sonya and her family really take care of the birds entrusted to them and are very open with everything they do and also they help teach us how to take care of our babies.
Sonya and Steve are nothing short of amazing. They truly care for the well being of every animal in their care. Even when at capacity, Sonya will work to find room or foster placement for a parrot in real need. I adopted Gigi, 22-26 year old Timneh African Grey, in January and she is everything we were hoping for. She is getting more comfortable every day and we love watching her blossom. Sonya has been a great help and resource for us, and everyone in the APR family. I definitely recommend All Parrot Rescue.
I have never met Sonya and Steve but these two are amazing the work and effort they put in to the rescue is what I look for in a place that cares for animals any animals These two have gone above and beyond for the animals I look forward to the videos Sonya post and from these even though I have been in rescue myself I learned things I did not know I hope they can continue what they do as we need good rescues that really care about what they do .
Just over a month ago I had the privilege of adopting Sammie from APR. while there I saw an intake of two new birds and the magic Steve and Sonya worked welcoming them into their fold. I have learned so much from Sonya’s Facebook posts and am constantly impressed by care the birds in care recieve. So happy to be part of the APR family!
Networking with APR with relocating parrots from different areas of the country has been imperative. Unfortunately, not all cities have a place like APR available to them. These birds are in a safe place because of APR. I trust APR completely with safety, diet, enrichment, vetting and most importantly, love for these birds. Adoption success has been proven!
Sonya contacted me about a wild caught Congo that was being very territorial. She knew i loved grays. So we took him in. He be came very attached to my youngest daughter. There knowledge and care for the birds they bring in is truly amazing
Great family run rescue. I recommend them to everyone I know. Always put the birds needs in the forefront.
APR is one of the best experiences I've had. Steve and Sonya are dedicated to making life better for all the birds who transition in their care. They both have loving, healing hearts and the ability to diagnose physical and mental stresses. Then, either medicate, fix broken bones and parrot hearts with patience and love. In so doing, they've created a village of loving caregivers for these beautiful, winged creatures. We're able to share information and advice...Sonya always updates the latest nutrition, medications and suggestions. Bottom line...DON'T SHOP, ADOPT! And if you can, donate. I'm a foster mother of Snuggles, one of the most delightful, unique characters who ever crossed their threshold. A little Goffin Cockatoo who talks, sing, dances and argues. All it takes is patience and love.
Sonya and Steve are the most inspirational and humbled people you will ever encounter. there love for what they do whether its for training others how to be a great parent to a parrott, teaching or just listening they do it all with love. Every Parrot Counts no matter what the circumstances may be. They inform everyone they engage everyone and they take action where others wont. Sonya and Steve are true advocacy for the Parrots for they have no voice.
They do all with compassion i truly love the Brewers.
The directors of this rescue are the hardest-working people that I know. I've been to the facility 3 times now, and one or both of them are always out cleaning cages. The don't depend on volunteers to do the dirty work, they do it themselves. Selfless, compassionate and hard-working. These people deserve all the help they can get. The birds are so loved and so well taken care of. They take the broken, neglected and the saddest cases and provide them with veterinary care, excellent diets, attention and love.
Having worked as an animal shelter manager - converting it to a no-kill facility - a founder of a registered 501c3 dog and cat rescue, serving on multiple Humane Society Boards as President, and a foster and rehabilitator for other animal rescues, I can say with full confidence that A.P.R. is the real deal. We have adopted from this organization and with great pride and humility. This rescue truly executes what all rescues should strive to do for their animals: enrichment, quality nutrition, rehabilitation, vetting, and proper placement in forever homes.
I have had nothing but good experiences with the organization and the wonderful people who operate it.
I rescue parrots in Hawaii and sometimes can’t find suitable placement on our tiny island. We had a special needs bird who required medical care and treatment beyond what we could provide. With one call we arranged transport to APR. They took in the bird, got him specialized avian vet care, nursed him back to health and eventually placed him with a wonderful loving family who gave him all the love he deserved.
On another occasion I called asking for advice for another sick parrot. 2 days later a box arrived unexpectedly, full of everything required to treat the bird’s illness. I couldn’t believe it!
Working in rescue can be very difficult. It’s costly, sometimes heartbreaking but mostly rewarding. Although I know many people throughout the country who help unwanted and abused animals, I feel like APR is one of the most trustworthy organizations I’ve encountered.
I don’t hesitate to endorse APR as an exceptional non profit organization. They are honest, hard working and put the animals first. They are my go to .org when I have a difficult case that’s beyond my scope of expertise. I donate to their cause when I can and will continue to support APR every way possible. They always come through. If anything ever happens to me I want my flock to go to APR because I know they will make sure the parrots land in a good loving home.

I am so in awe of APR! The way they make all the rescues feel like family members and a part of their home. Steve and Sonya are definitely the bird whisperers. What they accomplished with so many birds that have special needs and finding homes for them all is amazing! I love being involved with APR!! I just wish I was closer.
Subject:
I have been following APR for about 5 years now and year after year Sonya and Steve never fail to amaze me. I honestly have yet to meet anyone with as much dedication and spirit that these two have for their parrot rescue. While rescuing and rehoming parrots is a main goal of APR, what has become increasingly apparent to them is the need for more education. They are tenacious educators and a big part of their rescue is to inform people regarding the reality of being a “parront” and what to expect as far as the care, diet and behavior of parrots.
I have had a cockatiel for 22 years and I’ve learned SO much from their posts and wealth of knowledge, and I am still learning!
One of the main reasons people surrender their birds is a lack of knowledge on the care and behavior of birds. APR is on a mission to change this.
A few years back I dropped off some donations to the rescue and got to witness first hand the love and the hard work that they put forth in their rescue. And the love, you could just feel it when you walked in the door! APR is a full time job in itself and they manage to do it while working their normal jobs. While some days are harder than others they always rise above, forge forward and inspire everyone in the process of doing so.
Their dedication and fierce commitment to their rescue/cause is what this world needs more of. Follow APR on Facebook, you wont be sorry! Also, several times a year they do an online auction as a fundraiser and you can support them by donating or bidding on items. It is a fun way to support APR!
These two were great to deal with. Invite you into their home and share their love for these birds. This is a great set up and I wish I had such a place. I wish they lived closer so I could help out. I wish I had more room and time to take more. They are willing to share their knowledge, and so is the rest of the village
You won't find a rescue that cares more about their mission than APR. I've learned so much from them and will always be thankful for everything they do for the parrot community
Sonya and Steve stop at nothing to put these parrots needs first-emotional, physical, and medically. No matter what the handicap, APR is there for them with loving arms and kindness. Always before their own needs. Often rescuing them from dire situations. I have adopted 3 parrots from them and each one has been more than a blessing.
APR is a rescue that I am proud to follow and support. The owners, Sonya and Steve, do an amazing job caring for and showing love to all of their rescues. I have learned so much about parrots with disabilities because of the APR page and all the info posted. The needs of the rescues are always put first and it’s very obvious. The owners take their time with the adoption process and pairing parrots with the right caregivers. This is a rescue I trust and I would highly recommend it for people seriously considering adoption or people who want to learn more about parrots by following the APR page.
All Parrot Rescue has been amazing to me and my bird family. Truly a warrior in the fight against abandoned animals. No matter the day, or time, they are there for their animals no matter what they need. They are also so supportive of their people who are apart of the APR family. I could go on about how amazing they are, but I'd need a lot more typing space. Love you, APR.
All Parrot Rescue run by Sonya and Steve Brewer is an amazing facility. They not only have helped in assisting to give homes to many many birds but they have taken many in as long term companions to be sure they get the proper care, enrichment and vetting. They also assist other facilities and members of society by aiding in knowledge of the proper care of handicapped Birds. They take on the 'misfits' that people have no disregard in dumping because they aren't perfect. With their help I was able to give my injured African grey Ozzy a great and fulfilled last 3 years of life. They taught me from on the opposite coast and guided me every step of the way. All birds at APR are handled individually according to their needs. They all get proper diet and vetting and human interaction and love. I cant stress how important this rescue has become to the Avian community. Keep up the great work. You are doing Gods work for these babies
APR is a fantastic rescue that saves so many! The Brewers are caring, kind and are wonderful with all of those in their care-
APR and Sonya go above and beyond in helping the parrots -they take on the hard cases, both behaviorally and physically and rehab them and place them in loving forever homes. No small feat. Awesome rescue!!!
My husband Anthony and I have been following APR for many years now Sonya and Steve are compassionate and caring individuals who make sacrifices daily just so the birds in their care have the absolute best of everything. This rescue is amazing!
Steve and Sonya and the rest of APR do great things for exotic birds. They know what it takes to take care of them and try hard to rehome them to the families they need. With them it is all about the happiness of the birds!
We followed APR online for a few years before deciding to add another bird to our flock. We weren’t sure if our current bird would like the idea of another bird, so we decided to foster. After filling out the adoption application we were contacted by the rescue to be interviewed and meet the current birds in care. This is a bit of a unique process but is actually the best way to find a bird that’s compatible with you because each bird will react to a new person differently, and when they like you they show it. This way you’re not getting a companion that won’t be a good fit long term, because every bird is an individual and, like people, may have certain preferences. However the bird we decided to foster was so depressed and terrified by being in rescue, he didn’t have the capacity to “choose” us. Having veterinary experience I was willing to take on a bird with medical issues, which Hanky, a Redbelly Parrot, had - a wing injury of unknown source. Unfortunately after weeks of veterinary visits, antibiotics, and x-rays, an infection in his bones required amputation of his wing. At that point he’d started becoming more comfortable with us and we felt committed to his care, and we formally adopted him. Hanky’s been part of our lives for 2 years and is a saucy boy that doesn’t let the fact he can no longer fly slow him down. He has his own followers on Facebook and is an advocate for disabled birds. Our original bird and Hanky tolerate but don’t enjoy each other’s company, so in December we adopted a second APR bird, Blu (blue-crowned conure) without having met her because APR is such a great judge of human and bird character and compatibility. She and our first bird are still in the process of bonding but she’s a great fit in our home.
APR spends time educating their followers and adopters on proper parrot care, networking with other rescues to help birds across the globe, maintaining over 50 birds in care including regular vet visits, provides excellent diet/nutrition/supplements and converts birds from a lifetime of poor nutrition, gives emotional and medical support to neglected and abused birds, and makes sure birds are only placed in homes committed to providing the same quality of care.
This non-profit group is just as it should be...they are educators, who sacrifice so much for parrots in need. Placements are not made hastily, and contracts are signed to ensure everyone is clear on adoption expectations. Their birds are so well provided for and loved...each and every one of them are treated as if they were already in their forever home. This rescue (their home) is full of love and patience, birds there are fed healthy homemade foods. All healthy parrots are given safe and open areas to fly in that are clean, full of toys and enrichment stations. If you want to adopt, do expect to be vetted and not just adopted to without references and homes being checked, and birds being met. Adoptions are not rushed, but you will have their support and guidance throughout your bird's life.
I started following this charity's website and when I was in the area, took a chance and stopped to visit.
I expected a hard-working parrot shelter with cages everywhere.
I discovered a sanctuary with free-flighted areas for parrots, cages with doors left open so birds, not humans, could choose whether to stay in a cage or come out, so many toys climbing areas and enrichment, and a fierce advocate for parrot welfare and care in the owner, Sonya Brewer. This rescue is the real deal.
As a parrot owner and lover for 40 years, as well as someone who has recently adopted a beautiful and loving Severe Macaw from APR, I can attest to their dedication, support and love for every parrot they care for. They not only took the time to vet me thoroughly, but went out of their way to meet me when I picked up my bird and make sure things went smoothly. They win the prize for giving abandoned parrots a wonderful start in finding a forever home. I'd give them 10 or more stars if I could!
All Parrot Rescue is such a dedicated rescue. They take in birds from bad situations and change their diets, have them vetted and allow them to live freely in their aviaries. They have lots of toys for enrichment, ropes for climbing and perches for hanging out. I adopted Mya, who is 45 years old. She is a blue and gold macaw that was a breeder bird and was living in a sanctuary. Mya is a sweet bird that needed extra care due to severe arthritis and deformed toes. Sonya knew what I was looking for and suggested Mya. Mya is my feathered lap dog and a perfect fit for me.
I adopted Mtoto(Blue Headed Pionus) from APR Feb 2016. He was 24 at the time. I found APR through a friend. I filled out an application and being that I'm in the midwest Sonya picked the perfect fit for me and my flock. He was in rescue for 2 years prior and was overlooked as he is quiet and shy. I picked him up from the airport and he was an immediate fit. 3 years later and he is the most sweet and loving bird. I would recommend APR to anyone! APR is a great rescue thanks to the Brewer's and all their tireless and hard work for the birds. Thank you
I love APR. I already had one parrot and was looking for another. 4 years ago I met my African Grey, Curly at APR. Not only did they help me find a perfect companion for our family, they gave us lots of education. I am a better parrot owner because of them. The network of people you meet helps so much when needing advice.
Six years ago we contacted All Parrot Rescue to sign up to foster a single parrot. Today we are proud to be the parronts of a handsome 24 year old Blue-fronted amazon that we adopted from APR. Through the years I've seen over a hundred parrots find loving forever homes thanks to Steve and Sonya, the directors of APR. Their dedication, passion and tireless commitment to helping unwanted, abused and abandoned parrots is unparalleled. These intelligent animals, many endangered in the wild due to poaching and habitat loss, find themselves victims at the hands of people who don't understand their needs. APR understands and helps the ones in need.
We adopted our first parrot, Clawdia from APR (All Parrot Rescue) about 5 and a half years ago now. I had owned parrots before, so I had some experience in care- but APR made sure I had the support and guidance for a successful permanent home. Once you adopt from them, you become part of a family, a total network for questions about bird behavior & nutrition. It didn't take too long for us to adopt another parrot from them (our African Grey, Milo) & then to start helping with the rescue network (where we ended up with 2 quakers & a cockatiel!). I love that one of requirements for adoption is that you get to know the birds- so the humans can be chosen as well, and so you get first-hand knowledge about how the birds are cared for.
The Brewers are amazing. Their dedication to animals in need is constant and unconditional. They've opened their home and poured resources, time and selfless love into the APR All Parrot Rescue operation. The birds at APR receive proper care, medical attention, have healthy diets and an environment conducive to letting the birds just be birds. Which includes free flight areas. We permanent Foster for APR and volunteer as much as we can. We fully support their efforts to provide rescue parrots a better and safe environment
I follow APR on their Facebook page. Not only are they amazing at posting daily with adorable video's and pictures of their birds in care, but they provide a wealth of information about caring for your birds. I have been able to give my birds a better quality of care because of the information provided on their page. As the saying goes, 'if you know better you do better'. I'm a first time bird owner and my love for pets is huge. I am finding lots of valuable information in their posts that provide me with a greater knowledge of bird care. It is my hope that one day I will be able to adopt a larger bird from their rescue. But for now, I pay it forward by donating in any way that I can. I'm not always able to match my huge appreciation with a huge donation. But APR is majorly thankful for all efforts great and small. I am not a paid reviewer, I am receiving NOTHING in compensation for my review. I am just a humble animal lover who wants to make sure my thoughts and feelings are shared. It is easier to say negative than it is to say positive. And I want to make sure my positive IS said. Thank you APR for doing what you do.
Sonya and Steve are some of the most dedicated people I've ever met. I was blown away at how much space, time and endless love they sacrifice to care for someone else's unwanted animals. We were so lucky to adopt 2 birds from APR. Their dispositions and ability to trust us immediately, I believe, has a lot to do with their transitional care with Sonya and Steve. Their care is so exceptional that the birds who leave their home, leave with less issues than what they came in with. It's the love they receive from Sonya and Steve, no doubt! I cant think of 2 more deserving people to help, knowing its growing and continuing to enrich and stabilize the lives of these precious animals. Any animal (and adopters) would be lucky to receive the care and love that Sonya and Steve are willing to give.
Sonya has dedicated her life to the parrots in her care. You can tell she is passionate about giving them their own best life. She has taken neglected birds and turned them into friendly, socialized birds ready for their forever home.
In my opinion APR is one of the best bird rescues out there.
Sonya and Steve take wonderful care of the birds in need: the birds are fed a nutritious diet, they have plenty of enrichment in the form of toys, ropes, nets and perches to move around, as well as the opportunity and space to fly, including in an outside aviary. The old and the disabled ones get special attention.
All the birds receive competent and loving veterinary care as well.
Potential adopters are carefully screened and given all the advice and education they might need to properly care for any bird that might come into their care, and this support doesn't stop with the completion of the adoption.
At APR the birds and their well-being are the top priority, and that is how things should be.
APR in Graham by far sets the standard for the Care of Disabled, abused, & Abandoned Parrots not only in the Pacific North-West but in the Whole of the United States. The Brewers Dedication to their well being and Enrichment is above and beyond the base care required. We first Applied to be picked by a Parrot in their care in November 2016. Sonya didn't skip a beat in making sure the Animals I had were being provided regular vet care. After confirmation we came out and hoped we would be picked by one of the flock. Reno a now 7 yr old Congo African Grey chose me. He has been my sidekick ever since. Our kids took home some Cockteils, sweet pea , charcoal and Greyhawk. In July of 2017 My husband was chosen by Tricky another Congo African Grey , shortly after we brought home Phoenix a Yellow Indian Ring neck. We have become more then just apart of the flock we have become family. They are inspiration to everyone they come into contact with. You cant help but love them and all they do. To recognize them for all they do is to aid in the helping so many more Parrots who are in need, as well as the one currently in thier care. They work tirelessly daily to educate and assist in the rehoming of countless birds to avoid them ever having to see a rescue. Rescue should be the last resort a loving home is the goal.
My wife and I have been married for 12 years this June. Ever since we got married, and my service in the army, we've dedicated our lives to serving others and working with non profits. We've mostly done dog rescue work but since the army stationed us in Washington state in 2011 and bought our house in 2015 we decided to branch out more which led us to farm animal rescue and all parrot rescue.
In 2016 we decided we would love to open our home to parrots. Meeting Sonya and Steve (directors of apr) has been life changing. Hearing how they got started with a rescue of a bird named mealy and after multiple visits we developed a friendship and got rejuvenated in our pursuit to try and join the journey of making this world a better place. November 2016 we were adopted by our first parrot, a Congo African gray, named Reno. Hes made every day enjoyable again.
Since then weve adopted a few other birds also. Tricky (a Congo African gray), Phoenix (a yellow Indian ring neck) and a few cockatiels. I would highly encourage others to join our life journey to advocate and educate others on the need to adopt and not shop. Thank you apr for changing my life.
I adopted our 55 year old Orange Wing Amazon from APR. They are simply amazing with all the birds in their care and so loving. They do an amazing job educating the public as well. Love working with this rescue.
I became aware of APR after a FB friend tragically lost her one-off a kind grey...Seda. I went through her and her husbands loss like he was my own but knowing theirs was a million times worse. They then adopted another grey HawkEye who was such a blessing. Huh, I need to check out this rescue...enter Sonya & Steve!! Started following them and have never seen two people give their whole mind, body and soul to these precious birds in their care. TOTALLY in awe.
At APR the birds are always the top priority. When you adopt from APR you become a part of a wonderful community. Everyone helps everyone. Swapping advice and bird healthy recipes. Sharing happy stories of adoptions and earned trust with their birds and also supporting one another when someone has lost a feathered family member.
I've watched All Parrot Rescue blossom into what it is today. The kindness and compassion they show people and animals is just amazing. They helped me in a time of need without judgment. Can't even begin to describe everything they do for the birds! All Parrot Rescue is a role model for all animal rescues out there.
APR all parrot rescue is the epitome of what I call a true rescue. I have watched them take in many special needs parrots that many other rescues would not take. They feed only the best foods, give them tons of love and care, and treat them as family. They are extremely careful about who they allow to adopt from them. If only more rescues were like this wonderful couple that are doing this out of pure love for parrots. This world is a much better place with These two rescue heroes in it...
There are lot of parrot rescues in my area (sad to say), and I've visited many,of them. Over time, I've come to realize that APR is simply the best one out there. The owners, Sonya and Steve Brewer, will stop at nothing to make sure the birds in their care are getting the best of everything, no matter the personal sacrifice involved. All the birds in their care get the best diet available, are socialized and provided with an abundance of toys and other enrichments. There is no stinting on veterinary care. When it comes to adoptions, prospective "parronts" are carefully screened so the best possible fit between parrot and human is achieved. Operating solely through donations, this is the parrot rescue that deserves all the support it can possibly get.
Sonya & Steve at APR are such wonderful people who care so much for their animals. They educate the public in various ways, help find the ‘forgotten’ Ones forever homes and are not afraid to tell you that you are not a bird person. They genially care about the birds in their care ~ so much so that the BIRD picks the adopter not the other way around. I could not be happier that I stumbled upon APR as their knowledge has helped me many times over the years as I care for my own birds. I see how much they have sacrificed to make sure the animals in their care are taken care of with medical treatment, diet and lots of love. They are true angels that have earned their wings with all they do. Blessed to know them and their rescue.
I never believed that I would be a Bird Mom, but APR changed my life! I met Sonya and Steve Brewer through a friend of mine, having no idea how my life would be impacted from that meeting. When I entered their home, I was greeted by the house crew, several birds that are permanent residence. The birds were happy, healthy and well loved. As we toured the rescue, there were so many birds, all with a name, a story, likes/dislikes, special needs. The space was clean, and these birds were loved. I was lucky enough to have a bird, Jax, choose me. My flock is now up to 6, all rescues, all loved and all very happy. Sonya and Steve made such an impression on me that I am now a volunteer with All Parrot Rescue. I go get birds as they are surrendered to the Rescue, fund raise, donate supplies and work to support Sonya and Steve in educating people, growing the Rescue and finding homes for these precious birds. Even the Humane Societies and other shelters all over the state turn to APR to take in the birds surrendered to their care! APR takes in the sick, the broken, the unwanted and teaches these highly intelligent creatures to trust humans again, allowing them a second chance at happiness in homes with loving adoptive parronts. If the birds can not be rehomed, they will live out their lives at the Rescue being well cared for, well loved and free-no closed cages. Please help us rescue these birds. There is such an unnoticed but HUGE need for QUALITY rescues for birds. There are very few bird rescues, and no matter what the circumstance, APR steps up and steps in. Please support All Parrot Rescue with Sonya and Steve Brewer!
Best rescue ever cannot imagine these babies going anywhere else. They received the best shelter, food and healthcare. So many to care for and they land in the best care of the Brewers. It’s been just shy of 3 years since I found my boy and cannot imagine life without him.
I have been in Awe of AllParrot Rescue and all they do with to help the unwanted and disabled birds. All the time and even money from there own pockets to help these birds in need.I have 3 birds and the education I get from her page is priceless.I know her love of birds is from her heart. And the amazing things she and Steve have done is so wonderful.
This non-profit was introduced to me back in 2013. I had lost a beloved bird, and I was looking to fill the void by adopting another bird. I filled out an application form from their website, and then scheduled a meet and greet. I met Ava. She was a Blue crowned Conure. While we were both shy and unsure of one another, Sonya and Steve just sat and chatted with us until Ava and I were comfortable with each other. We both knew it was a match. So did Sonya and Steve. What an amazing place to go to find your next best friend. Speaking of friends, the human friendship I gained with this adoption is immeasurable. I've watched this little non-profit grow. It's amazing how they can stretch the smallest of donations to really make it count from food, vet bills, toys, etc. I never hesitate to donate as I can because I know miracles are abound.
APR is one of the BEST bird rescues out there!! They get birds that are VERY often unhealthy and they ALWAYS vet them and get them what they need...including meds, EXCELLENT food, enrichment toys and most importantly, unconditional love! The rescue in in a LOVING home, and is not a bird warehouse like many rescues are. All the healthy birds are allowed free flight in the home! They rehab the birds and get them strong and healthy. And they work TIRELESSLY to get these babies a new home. There are VERY FEW bird rescues that allow birds to be rehomed. They will even place birds across the US and that is RARE! Please, this the most DESERVING rescue I can think of!!!
As the President of Olympic Bird Fanciers I am acquainted with All Parrot Rescue and have enjoyed a working relationship (as well as a personal friendship) with them for several years. Olympic Bird Fanciers works hard to help keep parrots OUT of rescue. We strive to help owners overcome behavioral issues and to help people place birds in new homes when no other option is available. It's a very difficult job and sometimes we simply can not work things out. In steps All Parrot Rescue. They do an amazing job of veterinary intervention & rehabilitation; behavioral training, trust building and care giving. When a bird is ready for a new home they do a careful and thorough match up of prospective adopters and birds in need. It's a win/win for all involved. Sometimes there comes along a parrot who has needs that just can not be met in a regular household and those birds find a permanent sanctuary with the Brewers. All Parrot Rescue has my respect and deep appreciation.
I got my Ekkie from APR. She is amazing for me. I didnt even choose her myself... i told them my preferences, and ended up with my Lilly Rose. Wouldnt trade her for the world! I have had her a few years now..but still if i ever need anything or have questions APR is always there for me. Also love all the members of APR community, a great bunch of people. They keep up on all the adopted birds as well, yearly updates on birds are expected, they really care about all the birds that are in their care, and all the birds who are no longer in their care. Love the Brewers!
So much time, love and care goes into this rescue!! It feels like walking into snow white's palace: lots of birds with many stories to tell and new homes to find. PLEASE ADOPT!
APR is not your average rescue...They go above and beyond to provide education for your parrots health, diet and enrichment . I have 2 parrots that are happier and healthier due to their educational updates. APR also involves itself in helping other animal rescue situations outside their location and the plight of illegal capture/ trade.
A.P.R is an amazing non profit rescue. Sonya and Steve's passion for these birds is remarkable. They have a system of placing a bird into a new family. They dont just push out the birds they dont want like a lot of rescues seem to do. They tell you the truth on how a bird is and will tell you if they think he or she is a good fit for your family. They will teach you and guide you on how to take care of your new feathered baby. They set you up to succeed. They also let the birds choose their new human. It's an awesome experience when you go in with an idea of what your looking for and a different species picks you and wants all of your attention. All birds are seen by a veterinarian and are given the best diet. You wont be sorry going through All Parrot Rescue. It's a tribe, and everyone helps each other.
APR is a family operated, non-profit, organization located in Pierce County, Washington. Our joint efforts of rescue of the Parrot extends well before our founding in 2012 as a registered charity organization. APR is volunteer-based and humbled by the mutual efforts of our partners and friends who share our mission. Our initial goal to rescue has been a natural progression into premium care practices, providing educational resources and networking with our peers for the good of the entire parrot owning community. We thank you for visiting our web page and invite you to join us on Facebook where you will find "Our Village" of friends and partners, all sharing the same passion and all seeking the same end result........healthy, happy parrots.
Awesome rescue for parrots. Loving caring home with terrific volunteers. All birds are vetted and homes inspected before placement. And they provide wonderful enrichment and healthy diets for all the birds.
APR (All Parrot Rescue) is the most loving and transparent rescue that I know of. Sonya and Steve have taken in some of the worst cases as far as the conditions regarding what some of these parrots came from and vetted and nursed them back to health, provided a stable loving environment until adopted or take on the ones which are unadoptable due to other issues. I personally adopted the most sweetest umbrella cockatoo through this rescue and I would highly recommend them if someone is looking to add one or more of their awesome parrots to their home. A photo of my bird going on her first roadtrip with us.
We adopted Arnie and Olive from APR a year and a half ago. They had been together for 10 years when their owner became very ill and was hospitalized. APR stepped up to help them, and wanted to keep them together. They were a perfect fit for us, and we couldn't love them more. They are family, and we have APR to thank for bringing them into our life.
APR is doing everything I wish I could do to educate people about the care and well being of having a companion bird. One area of their rescue is with handicap birds. They are the first rescue that exposed this side of rescues to me. They truly show the public not to shy away from these precious lovelies but to accept. Thank you APR!
I have fostered birds for All Parrot Rescue for nine months now. This has been an amazing and rewarding experience for my young daughter and me. Every bird we have cared for has a different set of challenges for us to help them overcome. My daughter and I love it because we are learning so much, and helping them on their journey to their forever home. Saying goodbye is always hard, but without foster care, these birds may never be adopted, and because of the hard work APR does, we know that the homes these birds go to are the best possible placement for them. Because of APR, my daughter is learning how to train and transform animals into great pets, and the skills that she's learning (patience, perseverance, etc.) are ones that will serve her well throughout her life, and not just with animals.
APR is an incredible organization, and I am continuously blown away by the owner of this rescue. She treats each bird with love and compassion, bringing her lifelong expertise to find appropriate homes for them. She has a tremendous heart, and it shows in everything she does, from intake to adoption. She provides support to those who foster and adopt the birds in her care throughout the life of the bird, and beyond. She is truly a beautiful example of what it means to be a "pet guardian", and works tirelessly to advocate for her rescues.
I am blessed to be a part of the All Parrot Rescue family, and am grateful for this wonderful rescue!
I was introduced to the Brewers through another parrot sister and I have been blessed to call these folks family. Our Max was placed with us through a network of love and care. We continued to learn and grow through the teachings and are now volunteers. The network of advocates that the Brewers know is so strong and makes such an immense impact in the world of avian rescue. We adopted Max and then continued to step forward to be a long term sanctuary for a pair of bonded macaws (Buddy and Ella) Their mission is clear, educate and advocate. Where others may see hopeless, they see hope. They have places so many with good loving homes and continue to move forward with a mission of giving love and hope to the discarded companion parrots. All animals are precious but with their long life span, deep emotional intelligence and ability to form such complex bonds parrots are one of the creature that are in dire need of more heroes like APR. They continue through fatique and through adversity to do what they can to continue helping.
I personally have not adopted a parrot from APR,, but I have watched in the background of several Parrot rescues,, what I have come to know is that the Brewers are not just a rescue,,, they are a place where displaced and hurt (physically and mentally) parrots can come to be healed and loved unconditionally and learn to love and trust again. they are tireless and work so very hard to make every parrot feel as if they are the only one and so important. I contacted Sonya to see if My parrot could end up with them if something happens to me, I have been so concerned about what would happen to my baby after I am gone,, I now am confident in knowing he will be very well cared for and loved unconditionally.. My heart is now content,
APR run by the Brewers, goes out of their way to help and take in sick, handicapped and unwanted birds at an alarming rate. They get them fully vetted, rehabbed, show them love and how to trust again. This sometimes takes months-even years for these babies. We have adopted 2 birds directly from them, one beaten so badly, she is blind in one eye, unable to fly and walks on the side of her talon...cannot be in a cage and is deathly afraid of brooms, we figure she was beaten with one...Sonya and Steve earned this birds love and trusted us to give her a good loving home....we were so honored... Sonya networked another into our home when unexpected circumstances fell upon the other parronts. They do not just adopt these birds to just anyone, they make sure you are a perfect fit, educate you on do's and don'ts, and continue to reach out to these babies-years after they have been adopted...stay updated on their health and welfare-and genuinely care about these babies. Can't think of a more deserving non-profit organization.
Sonya and Steve truly love the job they do. They put everything they have into caring for the birds in their care.
I am so glad I was given the opportunity to adopt and foster through APR, they support you and are full of information. They have big hearts and take in as many birds as possible. I highly recommend them to anyone, whether it is to help with the birds or donate to help with the full house of birds they have. Kind, gentle, knowledgeable and loving people.
The Brewers are totally dedicated to the care and placement of parrots. They educate as well. The parrots there receive more than abundant enrichment and healthy food. They seldom see the inside of a cage.
I found APR while looking for help and answers about birds born with splayed legs for a friend who was given a cocktail with splay legs. They where very helpful. I started watching, not saying anything.about 6 months later they where going to have an auction to help with the food andVet bills. So I made and sent a small quilt and was happy it sold well.
I have watched many birds come into the rescue, most needing help in some way, better diet, overcoming fear of humans,or, needing emergency Vet care. And at APR they get that and more.
I am proud to be associated with Sonya and Steve Brewer, they alwys put the birds first. Leaving their egos at the door. They both can be found, on any given day, cleaning cages and mopping floors or interviewing prospective adopters. The rescue is in their own home and the love they have for these birds shows in many ways. Birds that when they first come in are huddled in the corner of their cages and slowly come out and start to become the loving and beautiful bird they where ment to be... the transformations are wonderful to watch. When there are adoptions we all rejoice that the "Baby" has found its forever home, and we look forward to the updates of all of the adopted birds.
I will continue to help when I can for as long as I can.
Sonya is a master at matching parrots with owners. I mean truly gifted. I lost my conure end of September 2018. It was devastating. he was my best friend. I looked around at some out of state adoptions, but their rules were to onerous... I happened to stumble upon APR. I wasnt necessarily looking to get another conure, but she had a few, as well as some other birds. I didnt understand till then, what it meant to be chosen by a parrot, as we'd bought our parrots, and sort of inherited a couple. Also APR was just a few miles from my house. I went there, met a few wonderful birds, and in the end there were 3 conures that had recently come in. She said open the cage, they'll just fly about. I opened the cage, 2 flew out one didnt. Then she flew out swooped around, and landed on top of the cage checking me out. After some coaxing, ashe finally perched for a moment, and few away again. This happened a couple of times, and then she landed on my shoulder, and that was it. She decided I was the one. As I was leaving, Sonya joked, she said "If I open this curtain, how much you wanna bet shes there staring at you". Sure enough she opened the curtain, and there was Joy looking at me with this "where are you going look"! I adopted her and picked her up that night. We've been best friends ever since. Since then I've become a part of APR private facebook page. What many dont realize, is the labor love her and steve have for the parrots in her care. They love all those birds as their own. They also make sure the bird and person are a good match. If you ever become unable to care for the bird, they will take the bird back for care. Since then Joy and I are besties. Since that time, I took my wife down there, as she lost her best friend (an African Grey) around 3 years ago. She just couldnt really see gettign anotehr Grey. we'd had him 16 years. So with trepidation, took my wife there finally (she resisted for a time). I think she met one or 2 other birds, and then Sonya said "hey, I want you to meet this one bird". An African grey. It was immediate, it was instant. They were best friends. We took him home shortly, actually think right after that.
Now my wife has a new best friends and they are almost inseparable.
Thank you Sonya for everything you've done for us, and what you do for the birds in your care.
Hello I live in the UK and found APR a year ago. They provide so much information to the community to help support your bird. These hard working people are providing a healthy and caring environment for the birds and match the right birds to the right people for successful adoptions. I would love them to be funded for more hard work for the birds that fall their way.
I was so happy to find APR is my neighbor after seeing them on Animal Cribs. I met Sonya and was so impressed with her tireless effort and dedication to making these discarded parrots lives better. I adopted a 23 yr old Conure from her. She let me spend time with the birds and was so right when she said they pick you. This rescue is a wonderful place for these birds and receive the best of care.
I,ve known APR for some time now, the work and caring for all those babys is a labor of love they try so hard to fine homes, they do not just say ok here is a bird they make dam sure the bird likes and is a good fit, Ive known APR will say no at time toos, I myself have 5 APR babys
And this is Mealy, my Diva, she gone now but still is the heart and soul of APR
I had a treasured parrot that hated my husband and would viscously attack him. Desperate for help, APR was able to help me rehome my bird without making me feel worse than I already did. They were kind and supportive of me and I am forever (and lovingly) in their debt. They are also a wonderful source of information and have made me a better parrot owner to my other parrot. I support them anyway I can.
APR not only helps find homes for parrots in need, but as an adoptor has continued to support me with education about the best diet and care for my birds. Top notch people create a village of caring and knowledge.
