Mission: Apollo's fire engages widespread audiences in its joyous pursuit of artistic excellence, performing 17th- and 18th-century music on the period instruments for which it was written while promoting a fresh and lively approach to historically informed performance. Taking its name from the classical god of music and sun, apollo's fire (af) was founded by award-winning harpsichordist/conductor jeannette sorrell, and incorporated in march 1992. Af is dedicated to the performance of 17th and 18th century music on the period instruments for which it was written. The ensemble unites a select pool of early-music specialists from throughout north america, and has been praised internationally for stylistic performances, cd recording, tours, and broadcasts.

A extraordinarily valuable musical arts performance resource in Northern Ohio and a rather unique one in the nation. It needs funds to do more and better. The organization is deserving of substantial General Operating Support.
