Sometimes giving is more than just a monetary donation. I have been fostering Duke, an English Setter mix saved from a kill shelter in Arlington Texas two years ago. Duke was dumped at the shelter by his owners after 8 years of having him. It took a small army to rescue him before his time was up. When I finally got him home he had to be shaved down to get all the mats off that were pulling at his skin. It took Duke a little to warm up and get along with his foster dog siblings. A year after trying to find Duke the perfect home he started having seizures. He suffers from severe anxiety and a neurological disorder and will have to be on meds the rest of his life. Since becoming epileptic very few adoption inquiries have come in. Duke may never find an adopter but he will have a forever home with me to live out his life loved and cared for. I foster for Apollo Support and rescue because we believe in giving animals a second chance at life. I give my time which is often worth more than a monetary donation. Winning money for Apollo would help us save more animals in north Texas.
