I am honored to be a part of this amazing organization. They genuinely care about their men and give them every opportunity they have at their disposal to help them start a new life. The stories I've heard about and witnessed for myself are inspiring and show the impact that we can have on the lives of men who have lost all hope simply by showing up and letting them know they matter.

Another Chance House is proof that sometimes it takes a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and even 5th chance before someone's life is changed but that every person is worth the effort. It is heartbreaking each time you hear one of the men talk about how they had lost all hope and had no desire to live before they found ACH. But because of the staff and other residents at ACH, they are now happy and finding their place in this world. I am thankful to be a part of such an amazing organization that in a dark world offers hope... and sometimes hope is all someone needs to find their way.
My name is Leo, I really enjoy working with the men at Another Chance House, I am very grateful to have the opportunity to be part of the men's lives.
I am honored to have received the opportunity to serve with this organization through my AmeriCorps program, and I could not imagine a better place for our residents to have another chance in life. The staff, volunteers, and residents are all so kind and generous, and I love seeing the way the community rallies together to support this mission. Also, the holidays around here are a blast! I added some photos from Thanksgiving and the Home for Christmas event. It is so awesome to see everyone work together to make this house a home!
This is a great place for a man to go to change his life. I’ve met numerous men that have gone through that program and continue to do good things in their lives and that’s why I support it.
I had a limited understanding of what Another Chance House does before joining the Board. I thought it simply served as a temporary housing opportunity for homeless men in the Amarillo area. When I became more involved I saw that this agency does so much more. It is not a temporary housing option for these men. It is a life changing opportunity for the men of our community.
Another Chance House has given the men who participate in the program an opportunity to realize that they actually belong, that they are cared about, and that they have something to offer each other, and others in the larger community as well. Guys come in who have been beaten down by the effects of homelessness and have come to believe that they are failures because of their state in life. They truly believe that they have nothing to offer. But, when they become part of the community, that all begins to change. They find that they are welcomed by the other men in the community, by the staff, and by all who are involved with ACH. They begin to realize that they are more than just "another homeless problem". With the help of each other, and the diligent work of the staff, they begin to discover their strengths and abilities, and how to use those to develop the knowledge and skills to live independent, productive lives in the community. And most of our men do, in fact, move on to live independent lives.
Not all, however, learn these lessons quickly. Some, in fact, struggle to fit in the community and find themselves leaving before the critical work is done. One of the greatest gifts of Another Chance House is that it recognizes that we often need more than one opportunity to learn and develop as we hope to. We have had men who have found themselves leaving, returning, leaving and returning, sometimes through several cycles, before the work becomes effective. It is not Second Chance House. It is Another Chance House because we all believe that we can all benefit from another chance.
Now, clearly, not all men find the same level of success, but I have been astonished at the success that most of the men I have encountered have had. I have witnessed miracles occurring in men's lives, and men responding to those miracles and sharing what they have gained with others. Another Chance House does far more for the men involved than I ever thought possible.
Serving on the Board of Another Chance House has been a true blessing. Watching these men overcome many challenges on the way to becoming a productive member of the community always encourages me. The support they have for each others journey is noteworthy.

The men of Another Chance House constantly surprise me with their commitment and support for one another in their journey to regain control of their life and work their way out of homelessness. To see these men light-up when accomplishing things we too often take for granted encourages me and reorients my perspective.

I have had the pleasure of working at Another Chance House for the past two years. Working here has completely changed my life. Being able to give back to the men here and watch them grow and become productive members of society is a joy. Another Chance House helps men who feel hopeless to feel hopeful .

As a member of the Direct Care staff at Another Chance House, I get a first hand view of the hard work that goes into making Another Chance House what it is today. We have a staff that comes in every day and gives 110% of themselves. Making sure each man living on the ACH Campus has every opportunity they need to become successful in their pursuit to a self-sufficient life.
The men living at Another Chance House are some of the most grateful men I have had the privilege of knowing. They are always willing to lend a hand in any of the daily functions that it takes to keep ACH running smoothly and on a timely schedule. Each man is always there to help the new resident or a resident who may be struggling to find their own way. The relationship between staff and the men is more like that of a family.
Another Chance House is a great place to work and I look forward to going to work each and every morning.

I was at a very low point in my life suffering with alcoholism. My wife had left me, hadn't been able to hold a job. I had become despondent and homeless. I was accepted in ACH and found a place to rebuild my fractured self. A comfortable place to stay, food, great fellowship and so much more. I was able to find a great job without the pressures of just surviving, without the constant worries of surviving. And with my newfound sobriety I returned to being the man my wife had married. I have been independant now for several years, I am close to celebrating my 7th year of sobriety and on the cusp of celebrating with my wife our 36th anniversary. Matter of fact now I am proud to make periodic donations to ACH. They continue to rebuild men one man at a time.
Beyond grateful to be apart of such a beautiful nonprofit that breathes life into men that truly need another chance. The men are met right where they’re at and because of the donors, they are given everything they need to become very successful, productive members of society. Many of the men that were lost and felt defeated are now apart of something bigger and greater than themselves, giving back to the community & are extremely proud of who they have become and the life ahead of them today.

By far one of the best ways to give back to the community. I have had the honor to watch the men be loved back to life and find their way in becoming a productive member of society. There are not words to describe the gratitude these men have for getting "another chance" that comes as a result of the dedication of all the donors/volunteers that poor into the men's lives. It is truly an incredible experience to be apart of all the miracles that take place on a daily basis with this organization.
Another Chance House has been a blessing in my life. You can tell the staff members love what they do to help struggling men get back on their feet. The living accommodations make you feel like you are home instead of a shelter.
I am honored to serve on the Board of Directors of Another Chance House. I have been on the board a short time; however, during that short time, I have witnessed the powerful work performed at ACH. I see men working to become productive members of society. I see staff working tirelessly to ensure the residents at Another Chance House have the resources they need to achieve their goals. The passion of the staff is amazing to watch. There is so much creativity in finding new ways to uphold the mission of this great organization. I feel honored to be a part of such an amazing organization.
It has been my privilege to watch homeless men come to Another Chance House and be encouraged and assisted to make themselves self-sufficient citizens of the community. Many of these men have over come alcoholism and other addictions as well as homelessness. While at another chance house they are encouraged to help each other and preform community service. Another Chance House has contributed a great deal to improving the entire neighborhood.
Since I came to work here I have seen the lives of men change. I have watched men go from hopeless to hopeful. I have never worked for a place that has so much compassion for others. It is honor to be able to work for and care for the men at Another Chance House.
ACH is always improving their facilities and adding more space to serve these men who have had some bad breaks and are on the edge of falling out of society. ACH runs a tight ship giving the men discipline, accountability, care and attention, and a safe place to stay and work as they try to sort out their life. Another Chance is providing a service to men who have been homeless or are at risk of being homeless. Not only does ACH provide the essentials to these men, but provides them an opportunity to put their lives back together and help others along the way.

My first experience with Another Chance House came as a newspaper columnist for the Amarillo (Texas) Globe-News. I did a story on a group fighting substance abuse that met at a local church. A couple of members said I should further check out ACH where they lived. There were some great things happening there. This was in 2012.
They were right. That led to a couple of bigger feature stories as I became aware of the difference ACH was making in the lives of men, one of the few places in the Texas Panhandle that was an outreach solely to men. At the time, I called it one of Amarillo's great secrets.
In 2015, I had an opportunity to be on the board which I accepted. Since then, I have seen up close this unique place, a full square block of housing that helps homeless veterans as well as others with programs designed for getting back into the work force, becoming stable financially and overcoming any addiction problems they may have. It's no secret any more, but a true success story in Amarillo, serving 55 men at a time and returning them to lives of self-sufficiency.
I have been involved with Another Chance House for more than 20 years. I have been the recipient of the hard work and attention to detail that the men from the House have provided me many times per year each and every year. Whether painting my house, fixing gutters, planting flowers or cleaning debris, they have always put in a days work for a days pay. I recently became a board member and have seen up close the changes in these men’s lives.
I was approached in Feb. 2020 by Patty Willyard about becoming a board member at ACH. I accepted and have never been happier. The board is very friendly and each member brings something new to the table. The residents are absolutely the best guys ever. So appreciative of everything we do. I am so thankful God led me to this organization and hope to be a part of its growth and positive development for a long, long time.

Another Chance House is a well-respected non-profit in Amarillo, which is located in a historic neighborhood and has been in operation for several decades. ACH is a success because it has a proven track record of selecting board members who, along with the executive director, believe in the mission and work incessantly to promote the organization as one that cares for the men who live there. I am amazed at the support ACH receives from donors, etc.
