I met Brenda with ACE a few years back. I actually spent the day at the rescue and offered a hand with the horses. We later went on a trail ride. I was so very impressed with the orginazation. She has been a BIG inspiration to me. So much so, that this year 2013, we became an Ohio non profit. She's a leader and someone to look up to. Keep up the great work ACE!!
As a long time member of ACE Rescue I have watched wonderful people share time and money to save horses that had lost hope. I have watched horses barely alive recover and find new homes and horses change from frightened to trusting .I have witnessed the profound emotionally satisfying effect that saving horses has had on the volunteers. Brenda Lewis has devoted her life to giving back to the horses that made her life wonderful when she was young. Please visit this rescue personally or contact BOD members (www.acerescue.org ) for more information. They re truly a team effort.
I have been with ACE for over ten years. Everyday is growth and adjustments. Nothing stays stagnant in any organization and when you are a non-profit, you must go where you can to get the most for your money so change in locations over 3 years is nothing to be startled about. If you know anything about horses-it's often hard enough to get ONE to load, not to mention multiples. That's a lot of work that nobody does just on a whim so to relocate is often because your backs against the wall with making hard financial choices.
Although nice in theory, Brenda Lewis does not always have the time to acknowledge each and every donor, she often single handedly she is running the day-to-day back breaking labors of taking care of livestock. I am proud to know her and proud of her work ethic despite the laundry list of aches and pains she has but casts them aside for her love of the horses she saves at ACE RESCUE. Anyone who speaks otherwise needs to be around for the last ten years to see the trials and tribulations she has overcome in her own life to put all these horses before hers.
I was told about ACE from a social media contact. Seems as there was a horse in need of housing and care in August 2015, so they went to Brenda Lewis, the president of Another Chance and she said she would take the horse, provided that she get $900.00 for 3 months care for the horse. The way it was done was odd, as it was done with secondary persons that accepted the donations, then past it on to Brenda Lewis, or so that was the plan of action. There were not many donors for some reason, which was strange, especially when it was on a known horse advocate site with over 3700 members, but not many responded to the public post, and according to the persons in charge of collecting funds, says they struggled with getting the $900.00 requested by Brenda Lewis. I went through a social media 'contact' who then mailed my generous donation to Brenda Lewis that Labor Day weekend. My check was cashed on Sept. 10th 2015, and never received a reply from Brenda Lewis to say she received it. As a matter of fact, when Brenda publicly shared on her social network page, about the horse's need and looking for help in August 2015, I shared her post twice publicly in a matter of two days, and received no acknowledgement from the president of ACE. I also replied and told her that I would have a donation in the mail, and again, no acknowledgment. After doing some research, found out that ACE is/has been in very unstable locations, and funding, especially in the last year or so. If a rescue is not financially solvent, and the location is not stable, (has at least 3 addresses within a year and a half time), then red flags go up. Brenda Lewis herself stated that she was going to dissolve the rescue permanently March of 2015. So with all of the unknown and instability, not to mention, lack of acknowledgment to persons who were looking for information and wanting to help, I would look into other options for another horse rescue. Also check with the Attorney General's office for any complaints, and note all findings. With my experience, I would never donate or recommend this person or Another Chance Equine Rescue (somewhere in Northwest Ohio) and I would strongly recommend going somewhere else. Another Chance/Brenda Lewis did not make a good first impression with my experience, and you have to wonder if the same lack of care, instability, and lack of acknowledgment is passed on to the horses. I would strongly recommend to proceed with extreme caution when donating to this or any rescue that lacks personal attention.
Ace has moved from Grafton to Columbia Station OH.
They are now on 5 acres with 26 horses and another coming. A donkey and mini horse also reside there.
They are being fed but the pastures are mud and manure. The barn leaks and runs off the lighting. The hay is also getting wet and I believe it to be a fire hazard. Due to the Holidays I have not received a response from the fire department.
In 5 months they have lost 7 volunteers, myself included. When you confront Brenda about the dentist, vet care, etc. your'e on the s list and she takes it out on your favorite horse. She leaves them outside over night in mud and freezing rain.
Koda was adopted and lame, Missy has foundered again, Bella and Woody were exposed to the same conditions.
Calli.. OTTB bit Brenda in the back and bit off the top of my finger. He's a danger in his stall but full bars have been nixed. His stall has "I bite" written in chalk.
I have contributed almost $2000 in the 5 months that I've been there. The day Zeus arrived, he was making weird things with his mouth and Brenda was told that he had issues with his teeth. He had difficulty eating his grain and hay. I donated $200 to have his teeth and Missy's (my sponsored Halflinger-age 21 to 25)
Zeus was there a whole month before the dentist came. His mouth was full of cuts and sores.
We're all totally dedicated to the horses and it pains you to see what's going on....so you give up and go elsewhere.
This is very personal and hopefully of some help. I'm 71 years old and I'm here to make a difference!
Thank you for your time.

ACER is one of the rescues that I support on a regular basis. Brenda and her team have been doing amazing work and I'm proud to be a supporter. ACER rocks!
I have recently (within the year) been following Another Chance Equine Rescue and am very impressed with all that I see them doing. They truly care about these horses and are saving many from a horrible death. I can't say enough good about what they do.... great organization.

I'm so proud to know Brenda Lewis and and her band of Angels! I've never seen so much dedication and hard work to save horses as this rescue. I've personally been to Shamrock Stable and witnessed their Over The Moon Love for their rescued horses! ACE Rescue is top notch and professional when it comes to saving horses lives that would otherwise be lost to slaughter.
I started to work with ACE about 16 months go and the experience has been life-changing for me. I am the CEO of an Engineering Company and it is a very stressful job. I go to ACE to care for the horses, I know I get more from them than they from me. I care for horses that cannot be ridden because of past injuries as well as horses that can be ridden and put up for adoption; I enjoy being with all of the horses! The people at ACE are genuine and fun to be with, I look forward to my volunteer time each and every week.
The wonderful people that make up ACE helped my daughters horse Mojo when he was saved from slaughter via Sugar Creek and a Kill buyer. They took him under their wings for a month or so at the rescue barn while we made sure he would fit in with our senior horses. They treated him like one of their own, he has never been as white as he was there!
ACE Rescue is one of the best rescues here in Ohio. I personally know Brenda Lewis and have sent several horses to her over the last year or so. I would trust her with my own horses and I can't say that about many of the rescues that I have dealt with over the years. She is truly in this game for the horses.
What can I say about Another Chance Equine Rescue what hasn't been said in the previous posts already?
I feel honored, and proud, to be involved with ACER. Since I've known the rescue group one thing stood out as their mission: Saving Horses.
Whatever a rescued horse needs is what ACER is willing to give to it. They will help horses no one wants, or have given up on, often times slaughter bound, or severally neglected horses.
Sometimes it’s matter of simple (re) training, but more often it’s so much more than that.
It’s truly magnificent how ACER can bring back a horse from a horrible past or destiny, and give it a wonderful future.
I also admire their willingness to teach and educate others.
I discovered ACE rescue when I move my thoroughbred mare to the same stable where they have their horses. I got to know the rescue and started to volunteer with them especially when I met a very special broodmare named Ima Grey Sunrise. She didn't trust people at all d/t the abuse she must have endured prior to her coming to ACE. She actually picked me as one of her people that she trusted. I then spent the next 3 years working with her. While she had her filly at her side all I did was go into the stall and spent time grooming, her, which she seemed to love! After evaluating un-rideable and difficult to place she was sent to a sanctuary then was returned when they could no longer care for her ACE told them that they would take her back. I was very happy to see her return and when I was able to, my sister and I officially adopted Grey this past January. I must say she knows she is apart of a herd and is being care for but myself and sister. She is settling down but still has a ways to go. She is becoming more trusting but not completely and once I get my own place, soon She and my other two horses will have a place of their own. At which point I am hoping to adopt another horse from ACE. This will be happening this summer!
I am adopting Harry one of the three TBs ACE had recently saved before his life ended at Sugar Creek. I've only fallowed ACE for a short period of time. I will recommend this organization to anyone looking to adopt a wonderful horses. The amount of time love and patients this organization put in to saving these animal from a horrible fate. ACE is truly angles and blessing to all they have touched.

I have always had a love for horses. Because of horse rescues like ACE I am able to help these beautiful creatures. They have not only saved many horses from slaughter, neglect, and abuse but they also educate others. They have a great support system for those that have adopted. No one is ever alone in their journey of adoption of an ACE horse. The joy these horses bring in ones life is undescribable. I have personally adopted a horse from ACE and I am confident that at every training milestone I pass ACE will be there with me. Every horse that comes to ACE is special and is treated as such. They not only try to heal whatever may be physically wrong but also try to heal their spirit. It just amazes me every time we get one in that we think may not make it and with love, dedication and compassion those same horses turn around and become something extraordinary. ACE truly makes a difference in every horse's life that they are able to save. Even if they can't take in another horse because they are full they will network and try to find them a home. No matter what, their first priority is the horse. They take the time to find the right fit with the right person since they want them to get the love and attention these sweet animals deserve. I fall in love every time a new horse gets rescued and I know because of ACE they will find a forever home. I owe them my heart for I would not have my little mischief maker. I encourage anyone who has a little time and a whole lot of love to give, to volunteer at ACE for they will get more out of it than they could ever give. The love and trust these rescues give is beyond words. ACE is a true "LIFE SAVER" even if it is a horse's life.
I adopted all 3 of my horses from ACE rescue. One of my horses has special needs and ACE is always there to help me when he is having problems. They truly love these horses and they always address any needs the horse has before it goes up for adoption. Their adoption fees are very low, as they are more concerned with the horse having a good loving home.
Ace Rescue is a wonderful organization with knowledge, compasion and a drive to make a change and save the lives of horses through rehabilitation and proper placement of horses in great homes! Good job ACE!
I fostered then adopted Strollbythebay in 2012. Stroll is an off the track thoroughbred, sound and healthy. Had a great experience working with ACE, they were MUCH easier to deal with than our local CANTER and other rescues that I had looked into. ACE really does a great job in placing their horses, much better than most rescues, I would highly recommend supporting their efforts, either with donations, volunteering, or adopting one of their horses.
We have adopted two horses from A.C.E., Moses in approximately 2007/2008 and Hutch, nka Aaron, in April, 2010. A.C.E. is a wonderful rescue group and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to give a horse saved from slaughter a forever home. They are a loving, caring and responsible rescue and when I am able, I financially support from time to time. I always give them an A+++.

We are adopting from.ace.rescue and still have not finalized everything yet but words cannot describle the wonderful care and effort and.love from all the volunteers and all involved with a.c.e. they were so helful.with.my daughter and getting her comfortable with " freckles" and all the work and time put into her, she is an amazing horse taught and cared for by a.c.e she has " swayback" and young, and u could not ask.for a better horse for a child. Sway back or not she deserved to be ridden and loved, and and givin a home!! I always recomend ace for adoption because there.is so much love and kindness from.everyone at a.c.e. what they do is amazing! Saving and rescue! !! ONE OF THE GREATEST RESCUES AROUND!!! SINCERLY, EVONA, TAYLOR AND " FRECKLES " OF COURSE :)
I have been involved with Ace for years and have adopted from them in the past. I have seen the level of care given to these animals once they are rescued, it is beyond excellent. The love, care and medical needs are always addressed and I have nothing but admiration and respect for the hard work all the volunteers and board members put in to ensure the animals safety and comfort. Without ACE there would have been numerous animals turned away even by other rescues, due to the challenge of their health status. They do not just "rescue", they also restore. Again, I have nothing but admiration and respect for Brenda and all who run ACE.
I love ACE Rescue! I have been there over a year and learned so much. I plan to continue to save horses from slaughter until there is no more. Ace Rescue saves horses from slaughter that's what we do!
Hey yall:) I volunteered at a therapeutic riding program where one of the horses from ACE rescue was on trial. She was sucha down-to-earth horse, and they found her a perfect role in this amazing program, and she did, and still does her job very well. "Dolly" has made so much progress, and we are so blessed that they saved her, & gave us the opportunity to add her to our family:) Thankss!

I currently have a horse on pre-trial adoption. I love that I get to know "Jackson" & him me before I decide if he is going to live with me forever. So far, things are looking good. It is wonderful to know that if he doesn't work out, they will take him back & find him that home he belongs in (which I'm pretty sure is mine). I believe this is a great way to rehome unwanted animals & to make sure that the home fits the animals. I love what they are doing as there are so many horses that would otherwise end up in the "meat plant", which makes me sick to think about. They are wonderful to work with & I hope they continue to do the good work they are currently doing, they are Angels to the unwanted horses.
I have followed ACE for several years now and have so much admiration and respect for them. I've seen pictures of the horses they have rescued and watched as these neglected and abused souls are transformed back into the beautiful creatures they were born to be. They are what every rescue should be; totally dedicated to the welfare of any horse that needs their help. Ace Rescue is one of the best and most selfless rescues in the country.

We adopted a horse and are planning to adopt another horse from ACE Rescue and can tell you it has been the best thing we ever did. The people of ACE are dedicated, and never give up on these animals. I am so lucky to be a part of something so great, and hope to continue to help for a long long time.
