I'd love to give this organization 5 stars considering it's purpose to give pets a good home but given my experience with them I think they are more like judgmental extremist (i.e. if you don't follow exactly what THEY think is best then you're pretty much a crappy pet owner). I have to wonder whether an organization that puts forth such single minded rules is really pet served or human served because it feels a bit more like the sentiments of the self righteous. I welcome an adoption process that scrutinizes adoptees but I'm a 45 year cat owner who has an indoor and outdoor cat and got turned down based on the fact that I have an outdoor cat. I take both cats to the vet to assure they have the proper shots, am as protective of my indoor cat as my human children and spoil both cats with high end foods and endless toys. Had the organization taken the time to call me, meet me or come to my home during the interview process they would have likely known this however all judgements were made over an simple e-mail interpretation. I knew another person who wanted to adopt and they denied them telling them the number of cats they must own as well as the age of the cats they thought they should adopt (Wow! like arranged marriage with pet owning...) I suppose if you're OK being judged or put under a microscope then you're fine to adopt from them but just a warning...even the best animal lovers might fall short; so leave any trace of honesty at the door or you'll be crucified on the spot. As animal lover I would ABSOLUTELY NEVER bring a pet to this organization to be rescued since I whole heartedly believe they are doing a disservice to pets looking for good homes by trying to fit people into their very narrow standards.
This amazing rescue took a dog that no one wanted, that had some physical deformities, and took care of her until she found us! Now, this beautiful Boxer girl is surrounded by love and spoiled rotten! This dog wouldn’t have stood a chance in a traditional shelter because of her issues but AnimalLuvrs didn’t ‘see’ those; they only saw the love that she deserved. And now Sally is in her fur-ever home. This rescue is THE best in the state!
