As a volunteer, I have seen first-hand the dedication our team has to providing the best possible care and placement for every cat that enters our shelter.

The purr-fect matches made at AWLMC make happy cats and adoptive families. Cat's distinctive personalities emerge during a home stay with a foster volunteer and lots of hand-on TLC at AWLMC . When a cat is ready for adoption, there is already a profile noting whether a lap cat, bundle of energy or everything in between. As a foster, I get to see the cute photos and glowing emails sent by the adoptive owners.
The AWL is doing wonderful work with the cats that they care for, house, and find responsible people to adopt them. The shelter is actually a Victorian home that has been converted into a center for cats! Each bedroom has two large two story shelter cages, and the cats also get time outside of the cage and can roam around the bedroom to play, eat, use the litter box, or just lounge around.
Volunteers teams look after the cats to feed and play with them several times a day. They also take care of medical needs for the cats.
I was so impressed with this shelter that I signed up to volunteer with them as a foster when needed.
They do great work for the felines. Thank You!
Wonderful organization. The shelter is clean, sanitary and well-maintained. The cats are lovingly cared for by experienced and conscientious volunteers, who respect each “resident’s” individuality. Each cat’s emotional and physical needs are documented clearly and the information is shared with all volunteers. The shelter leadership works hard to maintain a well-run organization and volunteers are dedicated to the cats’ well-being. All volunteers work together to ensure the cats find their best forever home.
Words can't even begin to explain how grateful I am to this organization. This group of people do their very best to care for the animals, maintain a tight knit foster community and provide resources to the community at large.
I first reached out to AWLMC in June of 2020 to see if they can help me rehome Sammy - a beautiful orange boy that was left behind by his owners and a friend of the family notified us that he was out there by himself. I had a full house already, so it was my goal to find him the best forever home since he was such a sweet gentle boy. The organization found him a home! A few years later, this scraggly looking tuxedo boy showed up at my doorstep. I was able to drop him off at the nearest shelter since I wasn't able to keep him in my home at that time. The shelter ended up moving him to AWLMC due to his sweet nature, they named him Moose. The organization found him a home shortly after. Lastly, a few months back, a family member was no longer able to care for her kitty so I emailed AWLMC to see if they would help find him a home. Ash came from a traumatic situation - he lost his housemate recently and was in a tough spot. Harold reached out to me almost immediately and although the shelter was full at that time he worked with me and was able to take Ash within the month. During his stay there Ash enjoyed so much love and attention by all the shelter volunteers including Brandy, Nona and Harold's wife Martha among others. The patience and care allowed Ash to be discovered by a loving family with older kids and from the recent update he is thriving in his new home. I can't express how thankful I am that they communicated with me and kept me updated even though they didn't have to. I even recently found out one of the cats I pet sit was adopted from them. I love this organization and the work they do - they deserve all good things and blessings in the world!

The cats roam freely in homey rooms with all the cat trees and toys they could imagine! All the while watching birds and squirrels from their sun perches when awakening from their naps. Twice-daily litter box scooping and plenty of attention from their devoted volunteers. It is truly cat heaven - the only next best thing is to be adopted into a forever home! Love this place!
AWL is an amazing all-volunteer organization with multiple programs: adoptions, a pet food bank, and spay and neuter. Through these programs and the dedication of volunteers, AWL has made an immeasurable difference to the MoCo community—our animal companions and we who love them.
I have been volunteering with AWLMC for almost a year. Every volunteer loves the cats like their own. It is so rewarding to see these great kitties find their forever homes.
I have personal experience with this shelter and have adopted from them. AWLMC helps the community through their cats and dogs by maintaining the shelter on Park Ave, Chompers, & and the S/N program. This all volunteer entity should get more recognition for all the good work they do. Keep up the good work!

The AWLMC is truly an outstanding Cat Shelter. The Volunteers there assist you in selecting the perfect cat but then sometimes the Cat selects you as did our Nala. The shelter is very clean and for any one who has had a cat and forgot to clean the litter box you know the affect - well that is not the AWLMC Shelter. The variety of Cats is excellent and if you do not see what you desire they will let you know if Your desire comes into the shelter. If your looking for a Cat, the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County is the best!

AWLMC is an outstanding Not for Profit NO KILL Cat Shelter located in Gaithersburg MD. We adopted our family member from AWLMC who has been a joy to our house. The Shelter has an all volunteer staff who are truly dedicated to the well being and health of each cat in their care. The five cat rooms each have multiple cat trees facing windows for the cats to see outside activities (Birds Squirrels, etc..) and toys all over the place. They have special teams that care for the cats; i.e., feeding, playing, and looking out for their health needs if any. The Adoption Team walked us through the process and provided excellent information on all the cats before we made our selection. I was so impressed with the Shelter I am now a volunteer. So if your looking for a furry friend to be in your life, please their website AWLMC.org
The Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County is the best around for quality cat care and support for pet owners. The staff here are very knowledgeable and friendly. They all provide top quality care for the pets and want what’s best for each individual cat. They honestly care about each individual cat, their needs, personalities and matching them with the perfect home. Overall highly recommend stopping by to meet the staff and cats available for adoption!
We adopted our current cat from AWLMC--that was our first experience with the organization. Months after that I retired and started volunteering as a cat crew member--feeding, changing water, cleaning litter boxes and spending time with the cats on one morning each week. The atmosphere for potential adopters to meet and interact with the cats couldn't be better. It's truly an at-home atmosphere where the cats feel safe and potential adopters can see their true personalities. The staff is excellent. Would not hesitate to recommend AWLMC to anyone interested in adopting or volunteering with an excellent non-profit.
AWLMC is a great all-volunteer organization that provides invaluable resources for pets and pet owners of Montgomery County. The shelter they run is unique in that most cats are able to be out in a room, rather than small cages. This is so much easier and beneficial for the cats while they are looking for their forever homes. But AWLMC’s services do not stop with the cats in the shelter. AWLMC also runs a program to provide food and supplies to help low-income owners of both cats and dogs continue to keep their pets with them and they assist with the spaying/neutering of pets.
Finally I can attest to the value of this organization first hand as I became acquainted with them 13 years ago when I went there to adopt a cat, and came home with two precious fur babies.
I love everything about this beautiful organization. The events that they hold are always a lot of fun (for the humans and the animals) and the home for the cats is always immaculate. Everyone is kind and the passion for the animals radiates throughout. Thank you for serving Montgomery County Animals with such high standards and care.
I was a volunteer for over 6 years before becoming a board member. The volunteers are VERY dedicated to not only the cats, but also to the community. Our CHOMPERS program helps low-income pet families in need by providing pet food when they are unable to afford it. This means that cats and dogs can stay with their loving families. There are no paid staff so all donations truly go towards supporting the cats and programs.
I was a volunteer feeding and caring for the cats before became a Board Member. The AWLMC is a Not for Profit, NO KILL shelter. Our five bedroom house is the home of up to 8 to 12 Cats at a time, awaiting on their FURR-Ever Home. We are all volunteers, there are no paid positions. If you're looking for a furry friend or perhaps a bonded pair, please visit our website at awlmc.org to view all our current cats and kittens. Don't see a cat, send us an email and tell what type of cat you are looking for and our Adoptions Team will be on the look-out for you. We average over 125 adoptions per year. All our cats are vetted and meet vet requirements for vaccinations before coming into the shelter. Our cats are looking forward to meeting You, hopefully in the near future.
I was looking to adopt my first animal after having several growing up. Everyone was so great and kind when I came to visit. And a few days later I was able to bring my girl home and have loved her ever since. She now means everything to me.
This is a wonderful place to adopt a cat or kitten. All-volunteer run. House is run by the cats.

The AWLMC is a fantastic place to adopt a cat or kitten. This no-kill, all volunteer shelter takes wonderful care of its residents. The cats have plenty of space to roam and lots of care and companionship from the many volunteers. There's really no other place like it around here.
Great team of volunteers who truly value their cats and kittens. ALWMC takes great care in vetting the cats and following up with adopters to make sure everything is going well. the shelter is clean, clean, clean, and enrichment volunteers come in to socialize the cats or help them settle into the shelter.
I must thank this place, here I adopted my two beautiful cats, which make me very happy, when I went the people who work there are very kind and helpful, I love it, I have good memories, I recommend this place.
Great folks, personable and professional .
Was able to find a cat that fit well with me. Application process was simple and the approval wait was quick.
I plan on getting my second cat here at AWLMC!
I have volunteered here for three years.. It is totally staffed by 100+ volunteers who are passionate about cats and their well-being. The shelter is in a house which is cheerfully decorated and immaculate. The cats' well-being is carefully monitored, and the Adoption team is very selective when evaluating a potential adopter, making sure the cat and individual/family are a good match and educating them if they've never had a cat. The adopter must agree to never de-claw a cat or keep them outdoors, provide regular veterinary care and return them to the shelter if they can no longer keep the cat. Also, if the person is a renter, it must be verified that they are allowed to have a cat. Volunteering here is a highlight of my week!
This is a wonderful organization. The home where the cats live is very nice and well taken care of and provides the cats with a comfortable. safe place while they await their forever home. The cats are also very well taken care of. All the volunteers that I've met truly care about the cats and their well being.
This is an amazing place with the most motivated and caring people I’ve experienced. The attention to the cats and the finesse with which they help create trust to help promote happy adoptions is wonderful. Volunteering at the AWLMC has been one of the most professionally gratifying experiences of my life. Can’t think of a better place for anyone to find their next feline companion.
This is a no-kill cat shelter I volunteer with. The shelter has healthy cats for adoption. The AWLMC is well-run by all volunteer staff. Cats are free to play and climb cat trees. The cats are friendly and the volunteers are too.

A wonderful no-kill cat shelter that lets the cats roam around their rooms, perch on cat trees, look out the window, play in giant tubes, play with cat roommates. Run by all volunteers.
I adopted my sweet kitty from them and it was a very smooth process. The house is great for the cats who are waiting for their forever homes and the volunteers truly care. They took time to let me become aquatinted with my cat and answered all my questions. I can tell the cats are well taken care of during their stay.
I recently had the opportunity to see this nonprofit in action. I visited their house in Gaithersburg, looking at the cats for adoption. The facility is quite unique, with several rooms where cats can run freely and interact with each other and prospective adopters. The shelter is very clean and well-maintained. It did not smell like a house full of cats! It is clear that this shelter is run by humane, caring people.
I would also note that on the day I visited, they were running pick up for their pet food bank. This is for pet owners who don't have the means to support their animal companions. The people they serve and their pets were tremendously grateful for this service. I was impressed that AWLMC is well-organized and a worthy charity to donate to.
The AWLMC has helped me big time as a single mom. I was told my cat Casey, who became indoor/outdoor a few years ago, was spayed when I adopted her. Turns out she was not. I then had trouble financially getting all the cuties spayed/neutered, which is how I found out about AWLMC. After talking with a friend about how much I had spent spaying one cat, she told me that AWLMC will cover the cost of a spay/neuter procedure. The application, reception, and overall process was easy and this took a great amount of financial stress off of me. I am so grateful to the AWLMC for all of their help and I have recommended their program to neighbors in need!
I have adopted 2 cats from this organization and nothing can compare to the care and attention these lucky cats receive while they are waiting for their new homes. Housing the cats in an actual home environment rather than the more traditional shelter crates gives them the best opportunity to adjust to change and be ready for their new homes.. The volunteers love every animal, treat every one as their own, and relish their success stories. There are are also community programs: a pet food bank and a free or discounted spay/neuter program for financially qualified residents. A very good place to be a cat!!
I’ve been volunteering at AWLMC since I moved here in 2019, and I’m so glad I found this place. They truly love helping cats find forever homes with the right family. The cats aren’t cooped up in cages, but instead have their own room to claim and get comfy in. They also support the community through a spay/neuter program and a pet food bank for low income pet owners. I can’t say enough good things about this organization.
Wonderful rescue in old town gaithersburg. Cats enjoy freedom in their rooms and are not sitting in cages. There is a lot of interaction with the cats so they are constantly being stimulated. It’s truly wonderful organization
These volunteers work tiredly 7 days a week to care for these surrendered kitties both physically, medically and emotionally! They even have 2 medical personnel that I know personally who have a very deep affection for this shelter. They spend their time in assessing each cat completely so they can make better connections with them so they can find their "purr-fect" homes. They take such loving care and invest so much of themselves in to each and every one of these fur babies just so they can be adopted out to the perfect families. I love the "home setting" they have created here in their location. I believe its the next best thing to a forever home! I'm impressed and will continue to support this organization!!
AWL is fantastic! They have excellent community programs that really help. One of these programs is Chompers where they provide food and litter to low-income families. They also maintain an awesome no-cage shelter that allows potential adopters to really interact and play with the cats before adopting.
I have been volunteering at AWLMC since 2010 and am proud to be associated with such a caring group of dedicated volunteers. I also adopted my cat from them, and she is the perfect cat for me. I am what's known as a "foster fail", because my Honey was my foster!

I've been a volunteer here since 2011, and am constantly impressed by the dedication of our volunteers. They go above and beyond in caring for each cat as an individual, learning each cat's personality and preferences, and helping them find their forever homes. Being involved with AWLMC is extremely rewarding for me personally, and is even more rewarding for the cats that come to us.
I have been volunteering at AWLMC for about 10 years, on the cat crew, fostering kittens and working with the Outreach team at various events in the county. It's a well run organization with a shelter where the cats can run freely, taken care of by dozens of dedicated volunteers.
I've been volunteering at AWL weekly (on both the "cat crew," or general cat care, and enrichment teams), for over 2 years and I really enjoy it. I love feeling that I've participated in helping some very shy/withdrawn cats to become more sociable and ultimately more adoptable, and I'm proud to tell people I volunteer here.
Great place to adopt a cat. Friendly people. Nice environment to meet cats roaming around a house.

Our experience with AWL started with me asking advice about a cat that we were trying to trap. However, when that failed I desperately wanted a cat. Edna was my main point of contact and she was the nicest person and patiently answered all of my questions no matter how silly. We had initially applied to adopt a calico but when we got there, there was this little kitty that just kept coming to us for pets and plays and he was rubbing his head against us. We had heard that cats choose their humans and we asked AWL if it was OK to change the cat we wanted and they were very willing to accommodate us. We named him Eggsy and he has been a daily joy in our lives. He's so chill and very well behaved. I continue to send the shelter pics of Eggsy so they can see his progress and even if I have any questions about the cat to date and I ask Edna, she is more than willing to help wherever she can. AWL is a great facility. You can see the cats are loved and that they are well cared for. I truly love this organization.
I had a specific need for an adult, neutered female cat to serve as both my personal cat and to live with our neutered male, who is primarily my wife's cat. The first cat we tried turned out to have a strong desire to be an outdoor cat, so we returned her without any problem. After spending a lot of time looking at listings I finally found a tortoiseshell called "little one" who was, at 12 lbs, in the same size range as shadow, our male. Her behavior profile seem to indicate that she would be more suited for us than the previous cat and after talking to both the shelter manager and the current foster home, we decided to meet her at the shelter and, if she seemed appropriate, adopt her. I arrived at the shelter with an empty carrier and sat in a room with Little One. we just looked at each other for a while and then I walked over and picked her up. After another interval, the shelter manager asked how things were going and I replied that she seemed a good fit and I was ready to take her home. The manager asked if I would need any help putting her into a carrier, but when she came to the door and say Little One very relaxed in my lap, the question was obviously moot.As of this time, the two cats have decided to tolerate each other. Little One has accepted a name change to Luna and I wake up every morning with her asleep beside me. She has also found a place on the top of my roll-top desk from which she can supervise me when necessary (see photo). So I am very happy with my experience with AWLMC and would highly recommend them to anyone who asks.
This is one of the most dedicated, involved organizations I have ever had a chance to work with. Each volunteer puts in so much time in effort to finding homes for our shelter cats. I highly recommend adopting from AWLMC.
I am such a huge fan of this organization. It is truly my happy place. Everyone cares so deeply for animals and the community and the dedication of my fellow volunteers never ceases to amaze me.

Such a delight to work with AWLMC. We decided to adopt a cat. We went for a visit to their facility which was very clean and well run. We couldn't decide on a cat and said we were going to think on it for a few days. There was no pressure to adopt. A few days later we went back and brought home our cat to his forever home. They shared their notes with us that the volunteers who work with each cat wrote every day so we could get a sense of his personality. They were very professional during the entire process, and advised we could call them any time with questions. They even reached out a few days after the adoption to make sure our cat was adjusting nicely. I highly recommend working with this organization.
I was a volunteer here for a while many years ago. The facility is very comfortable and clean. Its a very welcoming environment too, most of the cats are roaming freely inside a room instead of being in a tiny cafe. Everyone (volunteers) that I've met was very nice and kitty loving but most of all, I fell in love with every single kitty that lives in the house the ones that's stuck in my memories are Hunter and SuzyQ. All the memories I have of this place is a happy one ♡ and im so thankful for this no kill shelter for saving all these lovely cats thats looking for a new beginning in life.
The folks at the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County were friendly and helpful when we stopped in with the aim of adopting a cat. The staff dearly cares for their residents, and the whole environment is open, clean, and healthy for all of the cats there.
In August of 2017, we very unexpectedly lost a beloved cat. By November we were ready to adopt another cat. We didn’t need a kitten and were interested in giving an adult cat a loving home. We went to AWLMC and were so impressed by the facility and the volunteers. They were thorough in the screening process without making us feel like we were getting the third degree.
We adopted Winston (aka Morty). He is all we ever could have asked for in a pet!
A year later when our son graduated from college and got his first job and apartment in NJ, we were back. Now Simon (aka Buster) has a new home and comes to Maryland periodically for play dates with his cousin Winston.
AWLMC is a unique shelter that provides a home-like environment for their cats until they find their forever homes. As an all-volunteer organization, everyone is happy to be there and to care for the cats. They also provide temporary food help so people can care for their pets, especially during this very challenging time.

AWLMC has provided homes for many cats (and cats for many delighted people!), provided food, allowing people in financial struggles to keep their cat or dog, decreased the animal population through a spay/neuter program and raised awareness of the continuing problem of homeless animals in Montgomery County. To achieve so much it has to be (and is) a well-run ‘machine’ staffed by incredibly dedicated volunteers. What’s more-it’s FUN! Definitely a winning combination.
I have volunteered here since 2013 and love that it is a no-kill, largely cage-free (except for a cat’s first few days to get used to the shelter), bright and cheery old house where the volunteers are dedicated to finding a loving home for each cat that passes through our shelter.
I’ve been volunteering at the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County in Maryland for about 7 years. The volunteers there are very committed to the cats. Many of us help out by getting small items we can afford. I used to volunteer at another shelter and there wasn’t the passion there as there is.
I have volunteered at Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County(wow no wonder we always shorten it to AWLMC!) for about 6=7 years. I wouldn't do it if I was not happy with the shelter. Sure, some times the volunteers have a difference of opinion but in the end, the shelter ends up being a better place. I buy the supplies(I don't spend my own money, which I appreciate). I also work with the team which is crew, meaning we feed, clean the litter and take some time with the cats who are with us at the time. I like the fact that with a few exceptions, the cats are NOT kept in cages. A few lucky cats roam the house as long as they behave themselves with another cat. this is a great way for potential adopters to see them in a slightly different setting. The adoption counselors do a great job interviewing the potential adopters so we find the best home for the cats. all in all, this is a great place to volunteer
Love this organization! We recently adopted our kitten from this rescue. We had no issues and they made the whole process very easy for us. I will gladly go with them again next time we decide to add to our menagerie.
I cannot say enough about AWLMC and the people who worked with me to find not just one kitty but then a playmate for her. Bridget was my first cat from AWLMC and she was quite a handful. Volunteer Jacki and I worked together to find ways to acclimate Bridget to her new home. We thought that she needed a playmate but it had to be a specific personality for it to work. Jacki found the perfect cat, a tuxedo named "Bogart." After introducing him to Bridget, it was love-at-first-sight. The volunteers at this amazing organization go more than the extra mile to not only care for their sweet cats while they are with them, but also to stay in touch with people like me who appreciate follow-up. Jacki and I stay in touch even now with updates from me of my thankfulness for AWLMC and for her. If anyone is looking for a cat, please adopt from AWLMC.
Loved my first adoption here! They were easy to talk to, clear about the application process and what is expected of me as a new pet parent. So happy I turned to them when I was emotionally ready to adopt again.
I have visited and met all of the kitties that reside at the shelter. The shelter is awesome. clean and clearly dedicated to the residents. I met many of the volunteers and they love what they do and take such good care of each and every four baby there and the adoption. Rate is very high. I have 1 kitties but if the time comes that I want another this is where I will go.
I recently started volunteering with AWLMC and the phrase that I constantly say is "this is a well oiled machine." Seriously! Every volunteer is so compassionate and strives to do what they can in order to get the cats into the homes best fit for them. Not only are the volunteers amazing and the processes that are set in place extremely efficient--but the environment is great for the cats. One volunteer team is the enrichment team. This team comes into the house to play with and really get to know the cats, so they are never short of any attention. Additionally, it's a cage free house, so the cats get to roam around in their designated spaces and make their temporary stay feel like home. I have nothing but positive things to say about AWLMC!
I started fostering kittens for AWLMC and can’t say enough good things about this organization. Walking through the shelter was like walking through a home - so clean, inviting and warm. I’m so happy the cats have such a home like and cage free place to live while waiting for their forever homes. All the staff and volunteers love and care about every single cat and kitten that comes through their doors. I highly recommend and have referred friends and family here for kitten adoptions.
This organization has added such value to our lives as fosters. Every animal is treated with such personalized care. The team is incredibly sensitive to the well being of these beautiful creatures, even helping out other states when needed (recently rescued 17 animals in need from NC)!!!! Great folks, great organization....
My daughters and I had been volunteering with AWL for a year. The place is clean and organized. Everyone is filled with love and heart for animals and people, helping each other out to make this place precious.
A serene place with a wonderful staff. This facility does away with the basic concept of seeing your future pet in a cage and has them roaming free in a home like setting that is sure to put your "adoption anxiety" at ease.
The staff is knowledgeable as they are helpful when it comes to questions and you can take advantage of cuddling on a couch with a new "furry friend" while you're asking. After experiencing the vibe at The Animal Welfare League, I would never bother to go anywhere else. My family has sent several people there and we will continue to do so. BRAVO!
An all volunteer no-kill cat shelter in a homelike environment. Cats are well taken care of and well loved.
I love volunteering with AWLMC. We work together to help as many pets as possible through our shelter/adoptions as well as the reduced cost spay/neuter and pet food bank programs.

They value and encourage their volunteers, they select adopters with great attention to detail, they support other animal organizations and residents of Montgomery County with their programs and they are absolutely WONDERFUL to the cats! I've often thought that, If I was a cat, I would never want to leave AWLMC!!!
Been a volunteer here in various capacities for a few years now. Each cat has a wonderful space to meet adopters, a caring and compassionate staff that attends to each individual kitties unique needs. The foster program is wonderful and helps kitties get adjusted and the staff to learn more about them before they even get to the house for adoption. Just an amazing bunch of dedicated people who are so devoted to these animals.

I have volunteered with this organization for a number of years. The shelter in unlike any in existence - it is homey and comfortable for cats and people. The AWLMC has found homes for many cats over the years and helped other rescue groups with fewer resources. A low-cost spay/neuter program along with a pet food bank are among the many ways the AWLMC helps the local community.
The AWLMC is a very caring and loving shelter..
I started sending them emails just after midnight on New Year's Eve about Kinsey who I was interested in adopting .. They responded to me right away the next day.. The provided answers to all of my questions and details about Kinsey.. They even provided me with the opportunity to Foster her first to make sure we were a good fit for one another. I emailed them every day after I took Kinsey home and they provided me with many useful tips to help Kinsey in her adjustment phase. The AWLMC is a lovely facility and provides a home-like environment for each cat.. Most importantly it's clear to me that the volunteer staff love each and every kitten or cat that enters their doors as if they were their own!
I have adopted 2 wonderful cats - Angel and Randy - from AWLMC. These folks genuinely care about the cats in their care.
My wife and I added two tabby kitten littermates to our family last summer at an adoption event sponsored by AWLMC. The entire experience was just great. The volunteers were friendly and very knowledgeable. The kitties were very healthy and well cared for. They had all their shots, were spayed/neutered and microchipped, all for an incredible bargain price. The love for animals this group has is evident in all they do!
we had a wonderful experience adopting 2 kittens from this shelter. We could tell how much the volunteers really care about their cats and kittens. I highly recommend AWLMC to anyone looking to adopt a cat or kitten.
This volunteer-run animal shelter is a great nonprofit. The commitment of our volunteers is absolutely incredible. Volunteers do a great job of matching cats to their prospective forever families. I love AWLMC!
I had been to no-kill cat shelters before, and even got one of my own cats at a Second Hand Chance, but when I got there I was absolutely blown away. These cats live in conditions that are probably better than some housecats! An abundance of cat trees, lovely window views, and each room only comes with two or three cats at the most. Not to mention how clean it is! The volunteer setup is really well organized, so that cats are always receiving some level of care, whether that's just having people play with them or coming to clean the litter boxes. It feels more like a sanctuary sometimes than a shelter. An absolutely wonderful place to volunteer--I feel lucky to be involved and I love watching all these cats feel so comfortable putting their personalities on display.
After a couple of tragic experiences with other facilities I found AWLMC and found my forever pal. As a redhead I was delighted to find a furry ginger to share my life. The staff were very forthcoming regarding Skipper's past - as they knew it - so that I was fully prepared to make our transition to each other as smooth as possible. I love their care and concern for the creatures who have come to be in their care. I know finding them - and have Skipper come to live with me - was an angel thing. Thank you for the work you continue to do, AWLMC!
I am proud to be a board member of the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County! This organization impresses me every day by all they are able to accomplish, especially being 100% volunteer!

I recently adopted a cat from the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, and I'm so happy about my experience with them. I visited their facility a few times before I actually adopted my cat, and each time the volunteers were kind, informative, and patient with me. The facility itself is also a lovely home to all of the cats AWLMC rescues, so I knew my kitty was well-loved and cared for during his time with them. I have also been able to keep AWLMC updated on my cat's progress since we've brought him home via Facebook, and their continuing words of kindness and encouragement mean a lot... I can tell everyone involved there cares a great deal to volunteer with AWLMC.
Thank you AWLMC . You all have been so helpful with friendly, previously owned cats that end up in feral cat colonies and need foster until they can find a new loving home. You are so great to work with. The shelter is so beautiful and everyone is so nice.
AWLMC is a wonderful organization. I was private fostering a kitty for 9 months when I found out about AWL. I visited the facility and was very impressed by the cleanliness, and the very home-like set-up that the facility has. The workers and volunteers are friendly and out-going. I encouraged the kitty's owner to see AWL and consider moving her to AWL as the kitty was very nice and not getting any exposure to the public at my home. Sylvia(the kitty) was accepted at AWL and was adopted within 10 days!
If you are looking for a cat to join your family, please make AWL your first stop. Also if you are looking for a good group to donate to, this facility and the work they do, are very deserving of your $$. Photo is of Sylvia.
My wife and had just bought our first house. Growing up we always had cats. The house was so quiet and when home alone it felt so lonely. Thanks to AWL we were able To adopt our two beautiful cats. Our home feels complete. I can't imagine being without these guys. Thank You!!!
I was recently introduced to AWLMC and had a great experience with them. They really care about the animals and go the extra mile to help! I am thrilled to have a relationship with AWLMC now, so even more animals can be helped. In my dealings with them, they have been professional, prompt, and caring. On top of that, they send me pictures and keep me updated on the welfare of the cat I found. I highly recommend them.
I have been volunteering with AWLMC for about 6.5 years. It is a great organization; a place you feel you really make a difference for our cats and everyone else we help through our spay/neuter and chompers programs. I also love spending time with the cats and all the volunteers.

I have been a volunteer with AWLMC for about 5.5 years and love it! I always say if a cat has to be homeless, our shelter is the place to live. The cats live in a homelike environment, cage free with a dedicated team of volunteers that care and love for them until they find their forever home. AWLMC also offers a low cost spay/neuter program and a pet food bank for needy county residents. It is a great place to get some kitten love and make a difference in the world
I've been a volunteer for 3 years and I love the shelter. The home-like environment is wonderful for the cats, volunteers, and adopters. I recently adopted a kitty for myself and couldn't be happier.
This is the organization I turn to when I need help finding temporary housing for my foster cats. Over the years, they have demonstrated the caring and commitment that I want for all of my animals and I have absolute trust that they will find the best permanent homes for them.
The facility itself is immaculately maintained, which should be a top priority for potential adopters who visit.
I have been a volunteer for AWLMC for several years now, helping out in various areas of the organization. I have never been with such a dedicated group of people, all devoting their time and efforts to help and save more cats. I have learned a lot about both cats and people through my experiences and have gotten much satisfaction from seeing what a difference AWLMC can make. We are a unique shelter in many ways and I enjoy getting compliments from those I work with and help out.
I've been a volunteer at AWLMC for about 14 months now and have greatly enjoyed my time there. The cats live in a very homey atmosphere and the volunteers treat them like their own pets. I truly believe that the cats chosen to stay for a while at the AWLMC are the luckiest kitties in Maryland and whenever one of our babies finds their forever home, the whole shelter celebrates. If you're looking for a wonderful feline companion to share your home and your life with, or whether you're looking for a fantastic place to volunteer, you won't find any place better than the AWLMC! Come check us out. You won't be disappointed!

I began volunteering as a member of the cat crew about two months ago, and I just can't begin to express how much I love it and how impressed I am with this organization. I'm part of a group that helps feed and clean up after the cats in the shelter. After our chores are done, each cat crew member sticks around to spend time with each cat, so they can play and socialize with the volunteers (as well as the other cats in their room). In addition to caring for the actual shelter cats, AWLMC runs a low cost spay/neuter program, fosters kittens in volunteer's homes, provides food & supplies for cat & dog owners who can't afford it & otherwise would be in jeapordy of having to give up their pet. The work they do is just amazing. I'm so glad I found AWLMC and look forward to continuing to volunteer for as long as they'll have me!
Been volunteering here several years and have been touched over and over with the care AWLMC cats receive. Their individual needs are closely monitored and tended (juggling a tray with every possible combination of flavor and texture of food to accommodate the preferences of a room housing just 3 cats is proof!) and they are given whatever attention they need to be comfortable and adoptable. Waiting for a forever home here is truly the best scenario!

It's the lucky kitty that gets the team of AWLMC helping her/him find a forever home. I've been volunteering here for years and love the personal treatment each cat gets. Living quarters are comfy (sharing rooms like in dorm), meals are tailored to personal preferences (imagine juggling the bowls for the room where one cat dislikes chicken, one prefers dry food, and another is partial to a particular brand!), and any behavioral or health issues are dealt with sensitively, promptly, and with immense patience (including temporary foster arrangements, specified protocols for helping a cat address anxieties, etc.). It sometimes takes a while, but every cat I've seen come in has found her/his forever home. IMPRESSIVE!
I can't say enough for this AWLMC. I adopted two cats from AWLMC, and have supported it ever since. The facility is scrupulously clean and reflects intelligent planning about how to house cats in a way that is both comfortable for them, and showcases them to prospective adopters. The volunteers really think about placing the cats in the best home for them. I wanted to adopt two cats and picked out the first one right away. We then paired him with several others to see how they got along, before we made the final decision. This is an organization that is well worth your support.
Wonderful place to find a cat companion! Volunteers lavish attention on each cat and figure out the best socialization process to get that individual cat ready for a new life. Terrified strays transition to become happy, affectionate cats ready to take their place in a forever home. Adoption counselors get very well acquainted with every cat so they can give potential adopters valuable info and assist with the process of integrating the cat into its new family. The volunteers are constantly thinking about the cats, strategizing how to solve health & behavioral issues and how to enrich shelter life--like putting bird feeders near the windows to give the cats something interesting to watch! They try to keep a variety of color, age, gender, & personality so everybody can find just the right cat.
This is a wonderful place to find a rescue cat that you will adore for life! It is a nice environment for the cats to live in. I have also volunteered here and know how well all the volunteers care for the health and well being of the cats. You can't go wrong with this organization!
Been the best volunteer experience, friendly helpful people in a well organized shelter. The cats are living in a home environment until they find their forever homes. What a great way to meet your new best friend.

I have been volunteering at AWLMC for a couple of years. It is a wonderful no-kill cat shelter with the best volunteers. The cats receive the amazing care and the volunteers do a fantastic job. I so enjoy being a part of this organization.
I have been with the group since it was founded. We provide a home for many cats until they are adopted. We have a Chompers program that provides food for cat and dog owners who cannot afford to buy food. We also have a low cost spay/neuter for cats and some dogs. We are an all volunteer organization that relies primarily on donations. Working with this group is extremely rewarding.

I have been a volunteer with AWLMC since its inception as a foster and later as an adoption counselor. We take great joy in caring for our cats in a cage free house more like a home than a shelter. Many of us stop by even when we are not scheduled to work because the cats always put a smile on our face
I have been with this group since 2005. It is an all volunteer group, no one takes a salary. They have many programs to help the community and low income families. Like Low cost Spay/Neuter program and Chompers food for people in need of help to feed their pets. This program helps them keep their pets and not have to give them up. The group also takes in cats that are in need of new homes and helps get them adopted. This is a cageless shelter and after their quarantine time their have the run of a room with other cats. This makes for a more relaxed atmosphere for all. Volunteers take notes about the purrsonalities of the cats so that adopters have as much info as possible to make the right choose. The volunteers are friendly and very helpful and love the cats so much. It is a great bunch of people on the same mission, to help the cats and their owners. Mary Fisher Volunteer on the phone lines.
I've been a volunteer with AWLMC, a no-kill shelter, for 4 years. It is well organized and well run. My time spent there is always valued and never wasted. The shelter cats are extremely well cared for. Each day, each one gets individual care and feeding, including lots of play time and socialization. Because of this individual attention to our cats, the shelter's adoption rates are extremely high, which gives us volunteers a tremendous sense of satisfaction and joy.
I've been volunteering at AWLMC for about 8 months now. I really look forward to visiting the shelter every week. The cats here are so happy and really enjoy the cage-free environment. AWLMC does a great job of placing the cats in forever homes, as well as spaying/neutering cats and providing a Pet Food Bank.
AWLMC volunteer staff are about the most dedicated i have seen. At no time does the welfare of the animals within this organization's care not come first. The cats who land here on their way to their forever home are about the luckiest cats on the planet. They're safe, they're well cared for, and they are loved.
I absolutely love volunteering here - the atmosphere is homey and friendly and the cats are relaxed and happy. Among other programs, this no-kill cat shelter offers low cost spay/neuter certificates and a cat (and dog) free pet food program for qualified pet owners so they don't have to give up their beloved pets. The all volunteer staff is caring and dedicated, and our adoption events bring in people from the community to meet their new best furry friend. Smiles all around!

I just love this place! It's a no-kill cat rescue where caring volunteers place deserving kitties in loving homes. Everyone benefits! I have been volunteering here on the Cat Crew and the Enrichment Crew since November 2013 and have really enjoyed watching the cats come in and then quickly find their forever homes. The rescue is a big old house with open rooms for visiting and playing and the cats receive daily love, attention, and medical care (if needed). They spend only a few days in a very large cage to become acclimated, and then are allowed to play freely in the rooms so it's a happy place. We hear so many wonderful follow up stories about how the cats are fitting into their new families. I find the work very rewarding and encourage everyone who is thinking about adding a furry pet to their family to visit and check us out.
This no kill cat rescue group runs the nicest shelter home I've ever seen: sceen doors instead of solid between rooms and halls; homey furniture and windows in every room; cats grouped by personality and needs, care crews come 3 times a day to clean, feed, medicate, play. All kittens live in foster homes. Free and low-cost spay/neuter for cats and dogs, free dog and cat food for underprivileged owners, outreach and education to schools and public/private organizations, all cats neutered and pronounced healthy by local vets before adoption. A competent, organized, caring group of about 75 active volunteers work hard to find every cat a loving forever home, and reduce the number of unwanted cats and dogs.

I've been a Volunteer since 2006 & have served on many committees. But the most fun for me are the special events, going to outside meetings and introducing attendees to AWLMC, marching in parades, distributing printed hand-outs to our county residents. I admire & support the no-kill philosophy, though it increases our costs and concerns about unadoptable cats. Many times, though, with the right counselors and enrichment, unadoptables become adoptable. Though quite allergic to cats, I want to do some direct care for our cats in our shelter-home setting, with separate screened & windowed rooms for cats with different needs. (Kittens are always fostered in private homes.) Our whole mission is about reducing unwanted cats & kittens in the county with low-cost spay/neuter (for dogs, too), and free food for qualified dog and cat owners. But while we have cats & kittens in our care, we do our very best to give them a loving, interesting & healthy life until we find the perfect human(s) them.
In the last year I've had an opportunity to become involved in other AWLMC programs, in addition to serving on a weekly cat crew that feeds and cleans at the shelter. What strikes me the most is just how much this nonprofit does! From finding forever homes for cats in need, to offering low cost spay/neuter to county residents, to giving pet food to those unable to afford it-- the AWLMC is making a real difference in Montgomery County. I have met and gotten to know many other volunteers over the past several months, and every single person gives their all. I'm so proud to be a part of this group.

I have been actively volunteering with AWLMC for almost a year, and I can honestly say that the time I spend at the shelter or with other members of the org is the highlight of my week. AWLMC is a wonderful nonprofit with dedicated volunteers, complete professionalism, and a real impact on the community. I am very fortunate to be a part of this group.
The volunteer staff is dedicated to the care of rescued cats and kittens and provides an excellent home like atmosphere until they are adopted. The shelter is clean and friendly and allows good interaction of potential new pet parent with the cats.

This organization provides a clean, caring temporary home for cats waiting tor their forever home. The volunteers are kind and loving in the daily care of the cats. I enjoy my time spent there volunteering. I also enjoy doing intake foster.
The Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County (Maryland) is a spotlessly clean, homey, welcoming NO KILL shelter where cats roam freely in their rooms. The AWLMC is 100% volunteer - over 150 volunteers contribute to finding safe, loving homes for cats. In 2014 we found homes for 151 cats and kittens! We support our local community with programs such as TWICE A YEAR free spay neuter certificates for families that cannot afford this critical procedure for their pets. We offer a pet food bank that assists families in need to feed their cats and dogs so they can keep their beloved pets with them. We partner with local shelters to take adoptable cats, so that the shelters have more room, and we work with the public whenever possible to take adoptable cats when family illness, tragedy or challenges necessitate an animal leaving its home. I am proud to volunteer for such a wonderful organization, and am inspired by the adopters, donors, supporters and volunteers that I meet through the AWLMC. Come visit the AWLMC!

I always loved animals, but only in the last 10 years become involved in animal welfare. I have worked at other shelters - AWLMC is an entirely DIFFERENT and WONDERFUL concept. Cats roam freely in their little individual rooms. They are SO healthy and you can see it - their fur is shiny and their eyes are bright. Since I work there as a volunteer I see why. They are loved, cared for and adored by 150 volunteers. Shelter is spotlessly clean. Even if you are not ready to adopt you should visit. There are many things you can do to help animals. Just visiting and petting cats and kittens, and spreading the word about adopting an AWLMC cat makes such a difference. Our cats are being given a second chance - help us make a difference and hear about what we do for cats. Stop by for a visit.
I've been a volunteer for eight years and a board member for one year, and I love this group. The people are very friendly, the shelter is adorable, spotless, inviting, & comfortable to both humans and kitties. There is an incredible variety of volunteer activities to choose from: laid back duties to highly interactive stints...something to fit every desire. There is an amazing collection of people talents that includes cleaners, IT brains, fundraising talents, creative artists, public communicators, and many others. Everyone is needed, welcomed, and appreciated. The one exclusive feature that everyone has is a passion for caring about cats. It's a great group to join!
I started volunteering there last year, and I can honestly say it is the most fulfilling work I have ever done. The staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable. The cats are well taken care of and live in a home like environment until they find their forever homes. They are well fed and attended to.
I have been volunteering for AWLMC for a few years now, I find it to be the most rewarding experience I have been involved in.
February 29, 2012 I adopted Rudy the most amazing cat I have had the pleasure of having in my life.
When Hurricane Sandy came to town I volunteered to foster a kitty from the shelter which was Squinter. He made himself right at home once he was in my home. I could not stand to send him back to the shelter knowing he had recently been returned to our shelter after being adopted just a short before . He too is a wonderful kitty.
I enjoy taking care of the kitties at the shelter they keep me grounded.

I have been a volunteer with AWLMC for 7 seven years and its been an awesome
experience. Each cat is treated like a family member their health and well being
is the priority. Their family is made up of committed volunteers who pull together to handle even the most difficult situations which come up often in the world of rescue.
The cats live in a clean and home like one of a kind cage free house until they find the right adopter.
AWLMC is a fantastic organization! I have been volunteering here for about 3.5 years and it is a fabulous place. The volunteers are a dedicated group of animal lovers and are so passionate about what we do. We are a growing organization and just keep getting better. I love what I do and am so happy to have found a place like AWLMC to volunteer with! Come and visit our shelter and kitties!
I have been with AWLMC since its inception. We have grown so much due to the dedication of our volunteers and their love for cats. We need people with a variety of skill sets. Stop by out shelter and see what we are about.
I've always wanted to volunteer and work with animals, and AWLMC gave me the perfect opportunity to get started. I had practically zero experience working with animals before I came to AWLMC but everyone was patient, helpful, understanding and all around awesome. They took the time to teach by word-of-mouth, by showing me the ropes, and finally by encouraging me to find my own rhythm with every cat I came across.
You can tell as soon as you walk in the door that the cats are a priority to everyone who comes in daily, rain or shine. The volunteers take the time to learn the personality of each cat in our care and are as attuned to their needs as they would to another family member's. There is constant communication regarding the cats (and sharing of videos designed to make your heart melt). When one of our long-time residents finds their forever home, the entire organization cheers - not because we've raised our adoption numbers by 1, but because we've connected a cat and a family.
When it came time for me to add my own feline friends to my household, I worked with AWLMC. As a "client", I found the adoption process painless. The counselors are knowledgeable and really work with you to find the one (or two or three or however many) felines suitable to your household and your lifestyle. When I walked out with my cats, the volunteers came say goodbye and made me promise to give updates.
AWLMC is one of those organizations that made me feel like part of the family, regardless of whether I am volunteering or adopting from them.
AWLMC just keeps getting better and better. They take such good care of the cats. The cats get excellent medical care, the cats live in rooms in a real house, they have an enrichment team every day come and play with them, they have cat trees to jump on, windows to look out of. The volunteers work really hard with the kitties to make sure the cats are well adjusted and I think it shows. Adoptrrs have often commented on how well their cats adjust to their new home environments. I highly recomment this organization.
I can't say enough good things about the AWLMC. When I first started volunteering, I was impressed by the volunteer handbook and the policies and procedures in place as well as the spotless shelter and friendly volunteers. I've since had the pleasure of working with the amazing team of volunteers who are all there for one reason--the cats. The team approach encourages the sharing of information and ideas, and those who want to get more involved don't have to wait years to do so. The selection of cats available for adoption is always top-notch.

I signed up to volunteer after my first visit to the AWLMC. The shelter is homey, clean and bright. All of the cats seem happy to be there, and so do the volunteers. I'm thrilled to have found a no-kill shelter where I can interact with the cats, knowing that the only reason they'll be leaving is for their forever home. It is a well-run, happy place filled with caring people.
I volunteer at this shelter in a variety of ways, ranging from scooping litter boxes, feeding the cats and cleaning the rooms in which they live to helping to match cats with the right adopters so that all of the felines in our care find loving, permanent homes. I spend a great deal of time supporting the shelter while working a full-time job because of all of the work, patience and expertise that has gone--and continues to go--into ensuring that they are nurtured, understood, socialized as needed and, again, headed for homes that are safe and loving.
A legion of volunteers have been recruited (carefully) so that two cleaning and feeding crews tend to their needs each day and another team troops in almost daily to tend to their emotional and socialization needs. Many cats come with daunting baggage; some were homeless, dumped on the street, others were neglected or even abused; some had to be given up by families who could no longer care for them or from owners who died. Volunteers work with these cats to help them recover physically, emotionally and psychologically so that the right adopter will fall in love with them and the shelter's rate of successfully placing these cats in permanent homes is impressive.
I'm a willing soldier in a very successful army and my fellow service members know that this war--in favor of these wonderful cats--is one worth winning. I also learn a lot about the care and feeding of cats and about the skills and diplomacy it takes to run an organization staffed by many different people; the all-volunteer staff is more than 100 people strong.
I should add that I continue to volunteer with AWLMC and will continue to do so for as long as I can. AWLMC has an amazing array of dedicated, intelligent volunteers. I walk among two-footed titans; I serve a gorgeous, smart, appreciative constituency and they do reward me for my service in more ways than I could name (such as with head butts, purrs, lap-warming and furry side-of-body strokes). When I am down; when prospects dim, I go to this particular cat house where I cannot help but grin. To be there, for me, is always a win--because of both the feline and human company it puts me in.
I'm a current volunteer approaching my 1 year anniversary with AWLMC and I can say that it is a happy place for the cats and the volunteers. The cats have rooms instead of cages and they stay until they find their home, as long as it takes. I have met some wonderful friends there as well. We all work together toward the same goal of caring for the cats and finding them forever homes. AWLMC is a wonderful organization.
I have volunteered with the AWLMC for several years as a foster of kittens. I have found this organization to be highly professional and very compassionate. The shelter is a beautiful location where cats can enjoy their time while waiting for their new families to adopt them. The AWLMC does a tremendous amount of outreach work for the local community as well.
Great rescue. I adopted my Brice there and love him to death. Not many rescues are run like this, instead of boring cages the cats are in a home setting so you can see their true personality.
The Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County is a great organization that I volunteer for. They do a wonderful service to the community with their adoption program and their food bank. The current shelter in Gaithersburg is an amazing place! They cats are able to roam free inside and receive plenty of human socialization. They have saved many lives and I am proud to be associated with them!
Amazing all volunteer organization. Spends 95% of all donations on their programs.
Each year they break all performance records.
No-kill cat shelter, over 2000 spay neuters done, pet food bank and lots more with an annual budget of only $150,000. What makes the difference! Its the happy helpful volunteers relentlessly dedicated to the mission.

This organization is helping to save cats' lives by sheltering them, feeding them, fostering them, adopting them to good homes, spaying and neutering them, helping the community afford to spay and neuter their own pets, distributing pet supplies to needy families, and educating the public on caring for their pets in a responsible and loving manner. No one receives a salary. They do amazing work on a limited budget.
The Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County is a wonderful organization with amazing volunteers that care so much for the animals. Their shelter is immaculate and houses well loved cats waiting for their forever homes. AWLMC also offers a pet food bank for those who need help with cat and dog food anda low cost spay/neuter program. I love being on this team of dedicated volunteers!
I started volunteering with the AWLMC in 2007, after having adopted my cat, Lord Greystroke (Grey) from them in 2006. The organization is filled with volunteers who are passionate and knowledgeable about promoting the welfare of cats (and other pets) in the Montgomery County, MD area. Their no-kill cat shelter and adoption center is one of the best I've ever seen. The programs they provide to the community, including low-cost spay/neuter and Chompers petfood bank, are amazing. I recently moved from the area, but still plan to volunteer with adoption counseling and social media affairs as the AWLMC is such a fantastic organization. I'm proud and humbled to be a part of such a wonderful group that is truly making a difference in so many feline and human (and even canine!) lives.
I've been volunteering with the AWLMC for about four years in various ways. I love this organization so very much. It is amazing to know the impact we are having on the lives of the cats and people in our community. There is nothing better than reading an update about one of our cats and hearing just how much their new family loves them. This is especially wonderful when that particular cat had a rough background -- was abandoned, hurt, sick, scared, or had lost trust in people. And to read that they are now lap cats that snuggle with their owners every night is frankly...awesome. We have so many great cats at our shelter, and that is obvious as our turnover is incredible! Because we are close to cage-free, our "kids" tend to be more relaxed and comfortable while in the shelter. They are played with, brushed, given manicures, and loved on constantly. And because we are a no-kill shelter, one of a scant few, all of us know that the cats in our care will be so until they find their forever homes. I also love that this is an all-volunteer organization because every single person that gives of their time to taking care of the shelter and the cats is truly in it for the joy and love of animals. We love our shelter. We love our cats. And we are also there for each other. Recently, one of my cats became quite ill. I sent out a request for a pill gun and a water fountain. Within 30 minutes, I had over 10 responses to help. And many more emails of concern. This is a very special organization with a very special mission made up of very special people.
AWLMC is an all volunteer nonprofit that runs a no kill almost cage free cat adoption shelter and a low cost spay neuter certificate program for cats and dogs. It also has a monthly pet food bank to help pet owners under hard economic times provide food for their pet so they can keep it until they are back on their feet again. I have been a volunteer there since 2010 and find my volunteer experience extremely rewarding and believe that each volunteer hour makes a HUGE difference in helping save animals. The friendly volunteers are relentless about helping in a very positive way. Our shelter is the happiest cat house you have ever seen. Our adoption rate is up by more than 60% this year. Although our annual budget is only about $160,000 per year it amazes me that we get so much done with so little money. We are truly the little shelter that can make a difference. Www.awlmc.org
