The lack of respect, professionalism and efficiency makes the rescue more apart of the problem rather than the solution. The application and process times are unrealistic for most people mine started at one month. Their volunteers (specifically Jen) have no respect for other peoples time but expect you to wait on them. Jen is such an impatient but busy adopter she takes 2 days to reach out to you but expects a response back at the speed of light. They brag about adopting 300 animals this year while the shelter is still euthanizing them at an alarming rate. Instead of thinking how finite resources of and how important it is to treat every application with care Ching Fu believes that it is the adopters problem and responsibility to take on the burden of this process if you want to help animals. This is why people hate helping and going to rescues and dogs will continue to suffer. Overall this rescue stays full so they can continue to ask for donations, be tax exempt and do the bare minimum.
I lost my father of my whole life and my precious Maltipoo of 14 years two weeks apart a few months ago and I was a wreck. Not too long ago, after picking up the pieces I could, I knew I wanted another little being to take care of. After reading, speaking, and visiting my new friend, I knew we were meant for one another. Her foster mom and I graduated from the same high school! I am so happy that I stored her kennel in the garage because she does not need it anymore. She was so scared of us at first but is quickly starting to become queen of this house and barks now! I love it. I have never rescued an animal, but I am so fortunate that I was lead to the people who gave me this little gift.
This organization feels that an anxious dog should be medicated to comply. The dog we fostered for them for 2 years had a chewing compulsion and was a frequent flyer to the hospital to induce vomiting post foreign body consumption.
We worked with this dog for 2 years and she became much better, reduced anxiety and limited chewing. Then the rescue placed her in a new foster, she was traumatized with this person, terrified of the surroundings, bit the foster and then the dog was returned to us, 72 hours after she left. It was then that the rescue insisted the 3 year old do be so medicated that she was a zombie, we disagreed with that much medication and reduced the medication. She was behaving brilliantly on less medication..
Recently she had a stomach upset, but we didn’t think she had ingested anything. Once in April we took her in for an upset stomach. they found nothing in her intestines so treated the symptoms, the dog came home and was fine. Then 2 week later we suspected she had possibly eaten part of a blanket, though the blanket was dry, we found her with in 30 min after being placed in her crate. Rushed her to the hospital explaining that we were not sure if she ingested anything but to be safe please perform an X-ray.
The X-ray was negative, but the rescue and the vet agreed to perform a second surgery, this was unnecessary. They found nothing, yet this poor dog was subjected to painful surgery, long recover and risk of abdominal adhesions.
We told them we would continue to foster, post surgery is not a time to place this poor dog in a new environment, but the rescue blames us for the dogs behavior and refused to allow us to help her recover.
As a non profit this is a misuse of funds, bordering on abuse performing in-necessary surgery and no allowing her to recover with the only family she knows.
I would be ver cautious about dealing with this organization. I would never donate to an organization that wastes precious funding.
