I have been a volunteer at the Animal Rescue League for 8 years. I believe the in-house volunteering and the fostering program are top notch. I work with the cats primarily, and when we get overloaded with sick cats and drop offs, our fosters will do everything in their power to save as many cats as possible. The staff (paid employees) work very hard everyday to assist in adoptions and take care of the health of all the animals. The Board of Directors decided to withdrawal there support for the Pittsburgh Steelers after they signed ex-felon dog killer Michael Vick. To publicly refuse to support the Rooneys and the Steelers is a bold and courageous decision and I could not be prouder of my shelter!!!

I rescued two cats several years ago (one was left when her previous owner moved and the other was a kitten I found on the street in front of my house). Animal Rescue League was able to help me by providing affordable healthcare for my new pets. Today I have two happy, healthy and fun-loving kitties thanks to Animal Rescue League!

I have volunteered at the Wildlife Center for years and it continues to be very rewarding - even though volunteering means a lot of scrubbing! I especially like working with birds, and watching the baby birds grow up and the injured birds recover is very gratifying. The staff insists on continued training, so that the animals get the best possible care from the volunteers. Staff are very skilled and very supportive of the volunteers - and fun to be around.

I have volunteered with the ARL for a couple of months now. I was impressed at the rigor of their volunteer training. I was training for about a month before I walked my first dog alone. This really helped to put me at ease, especially since I was nervous around some of the really big dogs. Now, the day I volunteer is the highlight of my week. I love the ARL! I am impressed by their commitment to the community, and the community's commitment to the ARL. The ARL has been around for more than 100 years! I love volunteering here!

I have been volunteering at ARL for 10 months. I am amazed at the love, support and commitment they give to every single animal that comes through the doors. This is an amazing organization.

I have volunteered here for almost a year now and I have been overwhelmed by the general concern for the animals. They are treated well and I am so happy to be a part of this organization.
