I worked with this organization several years ago. They work tirelessly to take in owner surrender dogs that the local animal shelter will not take. They also “pull” dogs from the animal shelter when they have room. They have “The Catty Shack” which houses Cats and Kittens from all over the county as space permits. ALL companion animals are fully vetted, including the spay or neuter of both dogs and cats. Some dogs and cats are fostered by volunteers. All animals go to a rescue.
Many of these dogs are transported to rescues in Northern States where euthanasia is NOT the norm. When they take in puppies or kittens, they also take in the mama dog or cat. If the owner prefers to keep their dog or cat, Animal Rescue Assistance Team Tennessee (A.R.A.T.T.) arranges for a spay of the mama dog or cat at no charge to the owner. This reduces the pet overpopulation in the county. A.R.A.T.T. does not collect adoption fees for these animals. They rely SOLELY on donations to continue their mission.
The money is used for veterinary supplies and fees as well as operating costs to feed and house these animals. Additionally, money is needed to pay for gas to transport animals from Tennessee to Northern States. A.R.A.T.T. makes all the transports themselves.
Neither illness nor injury stops them. The demand for their services is year/round.
I’ve fostered many dogs for them. I’ve held dogs for them throughout the entire course of heartworm treatment. I know first hand the good works that they do.
I have two dogs that were “foster fails” meaning that I decided, after some time, to adopt the dogs from A.R.A.T.T. directly. There is no other organization that I know of that does so much with so little!
Amazing group of people that help save animals! They go above and beyond! I've worked with them many times at two different organizations and they do everything they can to help. Highly recommended.
