Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals
Mission: Animal Outreach of the Mother Lode reduces intake and killing in overburdened municipal shelters by rehoming over 3000 cats and dogs annually and providing low or no cost spay/neuter surgeries or vaccinations to over 9000 pets. We take animals in danger of euthanasia at other Northern California shelters and give them love, care, and medical treatment, and then find them loving forever homes. We are a NO-KILL shelter.
Results: Animal Outreach adopted out more than 1700 pets during the 3 month 2012 ASPCA $100K Challenge competition finishing in 3rd place nationwide. We were one of only 3 shelters that increased their adoptions by more than 1000 - 1153 to be exact!
Programs: Low-cost to all spay/neuter and vaccination clinics. Foster and adoptions in El Dorado and Sacramento Counties.
I volunteer with the non-profit group HART (Helen's Animal Rescue Team) and with several other groups that also use Animal Outreach to spay/neuter adoptable cats. Animal Outreach has a tremendously dedicated and knowledgable staff, and the most tireless veterinarian I've ever seen. They do an excellent job at a great price, and countless numbers of pets have been adopted because of their care. They also do an amazing job of coordinating the chaos when animals are brought in or picked up.
