You don't even want to know what they are putting me through. Despicable! Stay far away. Do not donate. Tell your family and friends to put their money elsewhere, such as a no-kill humane association.

PRAY TO GOD THAT YOUR DOG DOES NOT EVER END UP HERE IF IT GETS LOST. I have been searching for my australian shepherd for the past week and a half and have visited multiple animal shelters until today I finally made it to Animal Friends (because they close most days at 4:30, which is very inconvenient) and finally found my poor dog AND THEY WILL NOT LET ME TAKE HIM HOME!!!! At first they had me identify the dog, which I did and they acknowledged that it was in fact my dog. Then they had be fill out paperwork stating that he's my dog... so I did. Then a different lady working said "Oh he's been here for over 72 hours so she has to re-adopt him." Which I eagerly agreed to since I will do anything to get my dog back. So she handed me the adoption paperwork and as I'm almost done filling it out, the first lady informs me that the director (Meg) says that "We already have plans to move the dog somewhere else since he is now our property so there is no need for you to continue filling out the paperwork." I said, "You're taking MY dog somewhere else?" "Well you've taken too long to claim him so he's not yours anymore." I asked where they are sending him and they said they cannot disclose that information to me........ THATS A LIE!! All three ladies (two very unpleasant, rude older women, and the director, Meg) acknowledged that the shepherd was MY dog, but then refused to give me ownership of him because "it's too late." I am absolutely INFURIATED!!! He's still a puppy and I have only had him for a very short time and haven't had the chance to get him chipped or licensed so they made me out to be an awful owner and refuse to let me take him home or even tell me where they are taking him because "he's their property now." This whole situation is absolutely ridiculous and I cannot believe they are keeping MY dog from me. What kind of animal shelter does that?! They "pride their establishment on the fact that they reunite owners with their pets"...... well thats a bunch of crap. They know its my dog, yet are refusing to give me ownership. There is no way this is legal and this is definitely NOT the last they will hear from me. I will call the cops and contact the local news station and contact every single one of their sponsors to tell them how shady of a place this is and how they refused me ownership to my own dog. I feel very uncomfortable with the management at Animal Friends. I think Meg is conniving and is not really planning on sending my dog to a Rescue shelter "to be trained" since my dog is perfectly behaved and already trained. Something is going on there that does not meet protocol. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

This place doesn't even deserve one star. My heart was broken when I was forced to leave MY dog behind today. This will not be the last that they hear of me!!
