Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Human Services
Mission: Proudly providing unparalleled services to children, adults and families living with disabilities.
Programs: Residential services: angelwood maintains six group homes in the jacksonville area. Our residential programs help individuals in the homes to learn daily living skills, access the community for services and recreation and offer a secure safe place to call home. Two of the group homes have respite spaces where we are able to welcome young men for short visits on a rotating basis. This offers their family members a break in the daily care they provide throughout the year. All angelwood group homes provide awake supervision whenever anyone of the 6 people of each group home is in the home. Career development and education: angelwood currently provides 2 services in this area, supported employment and adult day training for approximately 60 people. The supported employment services help individuals who want to work find a suitable job, acquire the job and then maintain the job. Job training, interviewing skills and resume creation are all aspects of supported employment. Adult day training is primarily an arts based program that teaches work related skills to help individuals reach greater independence and possible employment. A significant addition to the career development and education department this year was the creation of the bells of angelwood. This is a performing arts ensemble that has learned to play hand bells and bring musical enjoyment to the broader community. Childrens services; the angelwood summer day camp is a highlight for up to 40 children per week for 5 weeks each summer. For over 15 years, the hendricks ave. Baptist church has welcomed us to their campus so that we could provide recreational opportunities for children with staff support to accommodate their special needs. The angelwood holiday camp operates several times a year as a short respite opportunity for families. Children living with developmental disabilities and their siblings are welcome to come for holiday themed times often in december and february. Behavior services: the angelwood behavior department provides positive behavior strategies and training to help individuals minimize behaviors that cause problems for themselves or others in their lives. Behaviorists are available to train family members or angelwood employees to reach the best results. Over 40 individuals directly receive behavior services. Additionally, the number of family members impacted by this service magnifies the impact of this number.
