Every year our children are given the opportunity to learn valuable training and lessons that will follow them their whole lives! We can't thank Angels of America's Fallen enough! Without their generous yearly support, my children wouldn't be able to be Advanced Scuba Diver Certified, Drone Certified, Motorcycle endorsed, experience and learn how to fly fish, wakeboard, play tennis, sew, and many more! Not only are they learning new skills but becoming invaluable members of society and highly trained.
This organization has been such a wonderful support for my two daughters. They lost their father in 2015 and this organization has allowed them to participate in activities that would have otherwise probably not been possible.
Angels works very diligently to be a good steward of donors dollars and has sustainability as a priority. Their long term commitment to the children from the time they enroll until 19 years old without having to really is very impactful to children who lost their parent in service to our country and communities.
I work for Angels of America's Fallen and one of the main things that sets them apart from others is the connection that we make with the families. We make it a point to truly get to know each of our families. We personally call them and email them directly and stay connected with them through out their time in our program. While the main point is to provide our families with funding to help their children get involved in activities within their communities we also build deep relationships with our families and really truly get to know who they are!
I cannot express enough gratitude for Angels of America’s Fallen and the incredible support they have provided our family. Thanks to their generosity, our two boys have had the opportunity to participate in soccer, gymnastics, tennis, and cross country.
The encouragement to try new activities has been invaluable, allowing our kids to explore their interests and develop a genuine love for sports. Angels of America’s Fallen has not only supplied the necessary equipment and materials but has also sponsored classes that have enriched their experience.
Beyond the sports themselves, we have found a wonderful community through the teams. The friendships and connections we’ve made have been truly special. We feel so lucky to be a part of this amazing organization and can’t thank them enough for their support!
My twins lost their uncle and then their dad. Their cousin told us about Angels, and they have been an enormous help. Living in California, I can hardly afford groceries for two teenage boys, let alone football, basketball, and baseball equipment. Our boys play sports almost year-round (AAA over summer), and I really couldn't do it without the support that Angels has given us.
AoAF has meant so much to our family - and that was totally unexpected. We signed up and forgot about it, until space opened up. Then, around that time, my son expressed interest in flying - but wow was it costly. AoAF made it so easy for me to be able to say yes! This allowed him not only to find his passion, but to develop a great relationships with the guys at the airport who have become mentors and friends. AND - one of them is even a Gold Star Kid, himself (But all grown up now). This allowed my son to really feel comfortable and connected to others and to get not just one, but two incredible mentors as he develops more and more as a pilot. He may be just (almost) 15, but he has gained so much because AoAF allowed me to say yes to something I would not have been able to say yes to otherwise. Not only that, but he has started to volunteer his time at airport events to help kids fall in love with aviation.
Video: Recently, his mentors introduced him to a plane that was stopping through - and those guys let him sit in the cockpit and go through the pre-flight check and even start up the jet. He said it was the most amazing experience of his life thus far.
Angels of America's Fallen is an absolutely amazing organization! They had a huge impact in our lives. My daughter has been supported in their program for 9 years; she was 3 years old when we first registered with them, and she is almost 13. She has been engaged in several different activities during the years - she was dancing recreationally then competitively for 6 years, she took swim lessons, art classes, cooking classes, horseback riding lessons, tennis lessons, and she is moving into a developmental volleyball program this winter. She has built wonderful and long-term relationships with her coaches and mentors that have been invaluable to her, and I love seeing her shine in her performances and accomplishments.
The Angels program impacts the entire family. There is a lot of pressure on the surviving parent when the other parent dies. Angels came alongside us when I was still trying to keep my head above water as a new mom. As a dance mom for years, I got support from the community as a mom as well. We are blessed that we live in the same city where Angels founders, Joe and Shelli live. We get to see them in person often, and we also have a great relationship with them. Emma loves spending time with Mr. Joey and Ms. Shelli. They care about each and every family, and Joe sends letters to every child. Everyone on the Angels staff is very caring and helpful when the families need anything at all. We have several opportunities to participate in events in the community and gather memories for life.
The annual Angel Gala is a celebration of the children of our fallen, and a black tie fundraiser. My daughter performed at the Gala a few times, and also sang the National Anthem a couple of times. These are amazing opportunities for the kids, and also build their self confidence. When Angels produced our story video, it became a healing tool for our family and a conversation starter. My husband died by suicide, so it adds another complicated layer into our grief. Mental wellness and resilience is at upmost importance to me. The Angels program is providing just that among other things for our children. The relationships the kids build, and the support they get from their coaches and mentors is ongoing and long-term. Once a child gets into the program, they are in it and supported until adulthood. There is no other similar program like this one. Angels invests into these kids' future, and while they are honoring the fallen service members, this program is about positives and possibilities for these children.
Thank you Angels of America's Fallen for everything you do for my child, our family, and everyone else in the program! Your impact is ongoing, long-term, and helps these kids grow mentally, socially, and physically while they are on their healing journey as well. We all can see the ripple effects it creates in the entire community as well. We are forever grateful!
Angels of America’s Fallen has been the brightest spot to us in a cloud of darkness. Angels has supported my son through positive extracurricular activities to help him work through his grief since losing his Dad due to his service in the military. Angels has also supported me, as his mother, by creating a network of Angel moms who lean on each other, cry together, laugh together and support each other. Joe and Shelli Lewis (founders of the organization) have been deep in the trenches with our families and so many others to help our children grow and prosper through tragedy.

Angels of America's Fallen have been able to help me provide healthy outlets for my son since the passing of his Dad due to PTSD. AOAF has loved us and supported us. They have watched my son grow and learn and play. They have cheered him on with me from afar and stood with me as I have grieved the loss of my husband. Because of this incredible organization, my son knows how to swim, loves soccer, goes to summer camp and has found out that Football is not the sport for him. They have lifted a burden off my shoulders and now I can say YES to more extracurricular activities for my 8 year old without wondering where the money is going to come from.
They have supported my family soon after my husband passed in the military. They have provide support and friendship as well as the funds to assist us with my boys love of hockey.
Angels of America is not just an ordinary organization but became family after my husband was KIA in Afghanistan. They supported him over 10 years so far with every sport or activity he has wanted to try out. They didn’t just support him financially but also when he needed support at a school function, they showed up for him. We currently live in Hawaii and he choose scouting for his next adventure. It makes me so happy to see him so carefree spending quality time with his leaders and friends. Camping on the beach and hiking all over the beautiful island. We are so grateful for Angels of Americas Fallen! We don’t know, how to ever thank them enough, for all they have done for us!
Angels of Americas Fallen has been amazing for my daughter. We are so blessed to have found an organization who truly cares about my daughter and our family. We are so grateful to all the donors. Their impact is far greater than anyone can imagine.

As a supported family, I can tell you Angels of America's Fallen is a great organization. My children have been supported in multiple activities over the past three years and it's been a blessing to us. The staff are very friendly and responsive, and I can tell they really care about us. Once of the most unusual things about them is they support my children all the way until they turn 19 years old.
I have participated in a variety of fundraising opportunities with Angels of America's Fallen Heroes. These events are always well planned fun and heartwarming.
My wife and I love their mission leadership and execution.
I am happy to support them at every opportunity.
They have my respect appreciation and support!
We have volunteered for many organizations over the years. We have been working with Angels of America's Fallen for the past 6 months.
We have been very impressed with their integrity.
We have seen first hand the impact they make on those who deserve and need it the most.
They have proven to be exemplary in their ethics and professionalism while maintaining an obvious care and compassion for the recipients employees and volunteers.
I've donated to Angels of America's Fallen for several years and have attended events they have put on. Each time I've been very impressed by the passion they show for their mission of supporting children of fallen military and first responders. I've spoken with several supported families and they all seem to love AOAF and their staff and volunteers. I have been happy to support AOAF and have never picked up a negative feeling from anyone I've associated with.
I have volunteered with Angels of America's Fallen for several years now helping particularly with their Angel Gala each year. The event is a fantastic night honoring those who gave their lives for this country, and highlighting the children supported in the program. It's very clear the families enjoy their night out, and the children really excel when performing! I've spoken with many supported families and they are all very appreciative for the connections they have made because of Angels. I highly recommend Angels of America's Fallen as a nonprofit to support.
I served on the board of directors for Angels and am familiar with their internal policies and procedures. The board and staff are committed to supporting the children of our fallen and their families to the best of their abilities. Angels is transparent with their finances and puts copies of all audits and IRS filings on their website.
I've been donating to Angels for several years and I always feel very good about it. It's very clear they are responsible with my gifts, and they prioritize putting as much as possible towards the mission purpose. I know personally the positive impact participation in sports and arts has on children, and when they are at risk after the loss of a parent, it's even more impactful.
Angels of Americas Fallen has been such a gift to our family! I am so thankful for the assistance to keep my children active, exploring new things and finding out what they like to do and are good at. Thank you, AoAF for all you've helped our family with!
Such a wonderful charity that helps support the children of America's Fallen Soldier. By supporting a child through a sport or activity, it gives children a means to express themselves while increasing their talent in their chosen area. We LOVE AOAF!!!

Angels of Americas Fallen has come along side my son and allowed him to pursue an extra-curricular activity that we otherwise wouldn't have been able to afford. Jayden has loved taking Taekwondo for over a year now and is rapidly progressing through the belts in hopes of one day becoming a black belt. Not only does this activity teach him skills to protect him self but it stresses responsibility, respect, and team building. He has done so well that Master Chang has him teaching others. All of this is thanks to Angels of Americas Fallen! Just to know that there are people out there that care and still remember the sacrifice his father gave for this great country, means so much to us. We appreciate you!
Angels of America's Fallen is a wonderful organization. And we're not even getting all the services yet. We're on the waitlist, but, when I reached out they were so kind and very efficient. The organization is covering swimming lessons for my son while we wait our turn. That alone is extremely helpful. Navigating all of the paperwork over the last year with the military has been quite a struggle. Working with Angels of America's Fallen was a breath of fresh air.
Angels of American Fallen is an amazing organization, my kids have participated in many activities with the help of AOAF, from art classes to shooting practice at 4H, they love it.
Thank you so very much for all your support.
My daughters and I truly appreciate Angels of Americas Fallen! Because of this organization my daughters, who lost their father in elementary school, have been able to pursue activities that would have been tough for me to afford as a single parent. What a wonderful and valuable mission!
Because of this program, my children have been able to continue their passion in horseback riding. They find much healing and peace at the stables. One of them has actually went on to college to pursue a career in equine therapy to help others in her position. This may not have happened if they weren’t able to continue in their lessons.
Thanks to Angels of America's Fallen my children are able to be in the sports they love. They have also had the chance to try new things like play instruments, boxing and jujitsu. Angels of America's Fallen doesn't just provide experiences for these children. They help them with their confidence, teamwork and creating friendships all while easing the financial burdens and stress from the only parent/guardian left for these children.
My son and I appreciate the care and support Angels of America's Fallen has provided for our family. My son enjoyed the swimming lessons. It is incredible to have people like Angels of America's Fallen who genuinely care for families like us who lost our loved ones. It makes us feel that my husband's loss and sacrifices do not go unnoticed.
This organization is amazing. My daughter's get to pursue their interests in honor of their dad's memory.
I learned about this program through TAPS a military widow group. Molly Case Manager was very attentive, the minute I registered our 6 year old son Logan! She was very nice, quick and informative. Logan loves his swimming lessons just this week after his 4th class we noticed he became more confident in his swimming! He’s very happy and looks forward to his classes. He has also improved his behavior at school, he takes more initiative and volunteers to help his teachers. His teachers and staff said he tells everyone about his swimming classes. I cannot thank Angels of Americas Fallen enough you’ve made a positive impact in our son’s life. His father Jack was a Marine whom passed in April 2016 he would be proud of our boy. Thank you for all you do.
I just love Angels of Americas Fallen! My husband passed in Jan of 2020 & we are finally now at the end of 2022 getting our lives together in a place where the kids want to be involved in activities & sports again! So this is our first year with AOAF.
I want to first show my appreciation on them reaching out to me several times to get started! They want our children to be involved in healthy activities, so they will try to encourage you to get your children into an activity! That is something I really appreciate, as once I lost motivation for living an active lifestyle, I also lost motivation for my children to live actively. I really did need that push of encouragement to get things moving! Both of my children are now both in cross country, & I have seen such a HUGE improvement on their behavior & demeanor! We start baseball & softball season in the spring! They are excited to figure out what other activities interest them!
Each child has a spot in their program until their 19th birthday, without re-registering. Which is a really convenient & appreciated aspect. Lord knows I'm trying to get it together. But I fail a lot & my children feel that directly. The fact that I know year after year, AOAF will serve & support my family, without any extra effort on my part, means the world to me!
They truly are here for a purpose, to see that the children of the fallen are taken care of & are living a purposeful & active life! We are grateful for them!
My boys father was killed in Iraq in 06. Angels made it possible for them to grow and thrive in the activities they love. Simon was able to get voice lessons for choir. And Jamey has been able to play club league soccer.
They have helped my daughter get into dance, Spanish lesson and French horn lesson. It has been amazing to see how much more she has gained with all these lessons and new friends she has made. They open up doors to her exploring new avenue and adventures that I would not be able to do on my own as a widow with just enough income to get by. The amount of not only healthy ways and exploring to find herself it has made her childhood and teen years so much more beautiful. I can’t express how wonderful this been to watch her grow and explore.
Angela of American Fallen has given my child the opportunity to participate in traveling basketball. She absolutely loves basketball but we could not afford the traveling teams. With the help from Angels she was able to attend which in return has allowed her to be scouted and help her achieve her dream of playing college basketball!! Angels of American Fallen are truly Angels!!
Angels of Americas Fallen has bene a huge help to my children. They have helped to continue my late husband's dreams of activities for our girls. Prior to his death in 2018, we were searching for horseback riding lessons. Being a military family, we had moved many times over the lifetime of our girls. It was quite a tedious task finding new activities for each of our children and then came the budgeting to make all of their dreams came true. Once we stabilized a bit after his death, the girls began expressing interest in finding a stable and being able to find healing alongside horses. Angels of Americas Fallen has funded riding lessons for our girls. In their time in the barn, I see them processing their emotions and building confidence within themselves each time they begin working with the horses at the Stables we have been blessed to find. Their teacher, a true God send, has been helping them learn all of the aspects of horsemanship and is instilling great life lessons as they go. The growth is all possible due to the generous help of Angels of Americas Fallen. Alone, I wouldn't be able to fund lessons as frequently as they are able to attend. Thank you for giving our girls the chance to continue to follow their dreams and explore the numerous options for recreation that are helping them heal and grow. We are so very thankful for all that you do for us!
Angels of America's Fallen is a wonderful organization.
My children lost their father in August 2015 and have been struggled so much with the loss. When I received the email about the girls being able to receive the funds from Angels of America's fallen, I was in tears. The support and wonderful things that have come from the girls being able to be involved in activities that build their confidence, skills and more have been overwhelming wonderful.
Chloe has found her love for playing the guitar, sewing and Minecraft. She amazes me every single week at how much she is learning and most of all, the joy that I can see on her face after each activity.
Kamryn is on the autism spectrum, and we have struggled finding her activities that she enjoys. She chose to use her funds to attend a weekly Minecraft club and she looks forward to it each week. The joy and excitement that she has when attending this class each week is indescribable.
The girls and I are so grateful for everything that Angels of America's fallen has provided for us.
Angels of America's Fallen has demonstrated they incorporate industry best practices and strive for sustainability and responsiveness. They are transparent with their financial information (IRS 990 and annual audit) available on their website.
Love this organization! I have been volunteering since 2015 and I can’t say enough good things about the staff and organization as a whole. We need more people doing this work!
It has been such a joy and honor getting to work alongside this wonderful non-profit. I started volunteering with Angels in September of 2021 and it is one of the most rewarding organizations to be a part of. As a military spouse myself, the mission of Angels really hits home for me and is so dear to my heart. The Angel team is incredibly genuine and passionate about the work they are doing, and they care so much about the futures of these children.
My experience with Angels of America's Fallen started through volunteering and now I am blessed to work part time with this amazing team. I immediately felt the passion and sense of urgency to connect with parent and children that had lost a spouse/parent as a first responder or service member. I have witnessed the powerful stories from the children and watched as they demonstrated skills with sports, music, dance, drama- whatever their dream to achieve had been when they came into the Angel program. This non-profit takes a proactive long-term stance creating positive and meaningful activities that the kids have chosen themselves! I can't wait to see more!
I was one of the first individuals AOAF helped. AOAF provided the funds for me to play piano, go to summer camp, and take swimming lessons from 2013-2020. AOAF allowed me to participate in fun activities that allowed me to learn and grow both mentally and physically. I am now considered an advanced pianist and am in great physical shape, in large part because of the activities AOAF allowed me to partake in.
This organization is phenomenal! They provide services to children of first responders and military members who die in the line of duty. The services they provide cannot be quantified and are immeasurable to these children whose parents gave the ultimate sacrifice!
This org has helped so many families that have lost their loved ones. They are there for a reason, and we are so blessed that they exist.
I discovered Angeles of Americas fallen in 2017, and have had the pleasure of attending their annual gala a few times as well. AOAF is an incredible organization providing support and a sense of community to the families of our nations fallen heroes. I would highly recommend this organization - and if you’re in Colorado Springs, you should definitely attend their annual gala!
There are not words to describe how incredible my experience has been with Angels of America's Fallen. For only having known about them for the past two months, I have been blown away by their congeniality, communication skills, and their genuine heart for serving the children of our fallen heroes. Some of the aspects I really respect about this organization is that they form long term commitments with the children they are helping, they take in families affected by any service-related death (not just combat-related deaths), and they advocate for the mental well-being of every child that is enrolled. I feel as if each of these aspects are overlooked by many organizations, but not Angels of America's Fallen. Thank you to Angels for doing what you do and for actually making a difference in this broken world we live in!
Angels of America’s Fallen is so personable and deals with each of their children on an individual basis. I love how even the staff choose to work remotely in order to make sure the maximum anoint of funds are going to the children!
Amazing how they care about our kids. This was our first gala and I have to said everything was perfect.
Thank you for help to raised resilient children, confident enough, stronger ever.
With Deeply gratitude
Rivkah & Norma
Angels of America’s Fallen is a wonderful organization that has provided my children with opportunities to continue being active without the extra expense. Joe and Shelli Lewis are the most kind-hearted individuals who truly care about the families and we are forever grateful for them and all they do.
Angels of Americas Fallen is a phenomenal organization! They've supported our children and demonstrated real kindness and gratitude to our family. Shows us we're not forgotten. They honor our children and my fallen soldier beautifully. They give and serve with such heart, thoughtfulness, and intentionality. The children are thrilled to begin their activities of choice! Such an incredibly healing gift!
I've been volunteering and serving on the Board of Directors for several years now. I would NOT be investing my time and treasure in the organization if it was anything less than outstanding.
The longer I work with Angels of America's Fallen and see the level of commitment for the children of our fallen military and first responders, the more I want to be involved with this group!
Angels provides funding for the children to find their passion in life - in spite of having lost a mentor and role model at a very young age. Angels encourages the kids (and their guardians) to find the positives and possibilities throughout their lives by engaging in activities that are healthy and involve a mentor, teacher or coach. Anything the child can dream of doing is supported as long as it is positive, healthy and involves adult supervision and help.
Some other nonprofits assist kids with a one-time trip or a scholarship, but Angels of America's Fallen promises to support and encourage these kids from the time they enter the program until they turn 19.
The teenage suicide rate is way too high. These kids that have lost a parent are at even greater risk of depression and suicide. How can we not try to help?
I know the hearts of the Board and the staff and volunteers of Angels. I know this is an organization worthy of my support and the investment of my time and money. If you are looking for an organization that really helps children and/or honors our fallen heroes, look no farther.

It was my wife who first became involved with Angels of America's Fallen. Drawn in by the mission of helping the children of fallen military and first responders she quickly became a volunteer for Angels. Later, she accepted a part-time job with Angels helping to keep track of the activities that all of the kids are involved in.
As her involvement grew, I came to learn more about Angels. About how big the need is. About how these children are at even greater risk for depression and all that is associated with that. About how there are many great organizations that help with one time needs or help with college scholarships, but there are very few that serve the needs of these kids day in and day out over a course of years. About how some organizations will only help when the loss of the parent was in the line of duty and not by accident or suicide. About how awesome, resilient and inspiring these kids are. To see them participate in their chosen activity or activities and see them grow, set and achieve goals and become happy, well adjusted young adults is the absolute best!
When Angels takes a child into the program, we are committed to being there for that child until their 19th birthday. It is a large commitment that we take seriously. Funding is critically important. There are no criteria for acceptance into the program other than the parent was in service to the nation and is no longer around to see their child grow up. Children are added on a first come first served basis.
My involvement really began in earnest when I agreed to be the Treasurer. I was invited to participate based on my accounting background, but I joined because I have not seen a group more dedicated to the cause of helping these children. Everyone involved is first rate - honest, caring, professional and wholly committed to serving these children. It is an honor to serve these children and to do it along with other like-minded individuals.
I’ve been blessed to be a long-time donor with AOAF. The stories and experiences I have had with this organization keep me returning year after year. They are professionally run, have the financials to back it up, and couldn’t be working for a better cause!
Great people leading this organization. They genuinely care for the kids and families this nonprofit helps. They're also great to work with - very professional.
Angels of America's Fallen is an exemplary organization in its transparency to the people they serve, their donors and supporters, and their community partners. As a nonprofit professional, I really appreciate that AOAF makes all of their financial information available to the public, and keeps their administrative costs very low.
But more importantly, AOAF means the difference between surviving and thriving for children and families who have lost a loved one to military or first responder service. Hearing the testimonies of the Angel children and seeing them perform their talents at the annual Angel Gala is moving beyond words. These families have experienced much loss, grief, and tragedy in their lives, but have overcome so many obstacles to cope with the hardest transition they will ever face. Thanks to the support of AOAF year over year, the children can persevere in their passions and write their own story of success despite their loss.
I came in contact with Angels in a professional capacity, and have worked closely with the organization for over a year now. I have also become a donor as a result of seeing firsthand the care and attention they give to fulfilling the mission.
I believe in what Angels is doing and how they are doing it. I strongly suggest that anyone looking to give their money or their time put Angels of America's Fallen at the top of their list!
We've been supporters of AoAF for a couple of years now and I am proud to say they are one of my favorite charities to support. Joe and Shelli and their team of volunteers work their tails off with every event they do for these families. I come from a military background so this has a special place in my heart. I will support these guys will have my support 100% always. With a number of charities out there where the funding allocation is questionable, I don't ever have that concern with AoAF and that speaks loudly for me.
AOAF has consistently shown their dedication and passion to the families they support by providing numerous resources of support through public events, 1 on 1 mentorship, and even phone calls. I have consistently witnessed its members and volunteers go out of their way to help others. While being a smaller teamed organization, they have a very genuine drive to do great things for the families and angels in the program. Compared to other non profits, it is amazing to see how much they truly care and personally form connections with the people they help. Over the past 5+ years I’ve volunteered at numerous events here in the springs. I can confidently say that I have seen it’s members and volunteers put themselves last to help/support those in the program in any and every way possible.
This organization has not only impacted my life but I’ve seen it impact countless others. The joy that I’ve seen created through fun events, personal conversations and true connection brought by this organization are profound and have inspired me to continue to give back to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us all. Not only are they there to financially support children of our fallen but they are there to emotionally and personally support the families as they navigate their situation. This is by far the most impactful and all encompassing military/fire/police/ems oriented organization out there.
I've been very pleases to support this organization for several years. Their financials are publicly posted other website and show the vast majority of funds go to support the kids.
This is an amazing nonprofit. They are strict and fair stewards of every donation dollar and that is so important to us. They have a true heart for the children of our country's fallen military and first responders. Not only do they provide a robust program for those children to pursue whatever interests them, they follow up and check in with the families throughout the year. We are proud to be associated with this awesome nonprofit and support it's great cause.
What a wonderful organization! It serves to help children and families focus on their amazing future (not just the loss) while at the same time honouring the fallen.
Losing a parent forever changes your child's life, and tremendous struggle sets in to just be able to maintain life as usual for your child during such a critical time. Having the support of Angel's of America's Fallen to help ensure that life goes on - through activities my child chooses - has been a huge asset in keeping her motivated, stable, and growing. My child would not have been able to do what they have provided for us if it were not for them.

AAOF has been incredibly supportive and helpful in the aftermath of what has been the biggest, most life altering change my family has ever experienced. My daughter is learning to live again and find a new normal with their consistent encouragement and financial support to explore her newfound world without her father. She is learning and growing every day, as AAOF has supported her in accessing new hobbies and interests on this road to finding herself again.
Angels of America's Fallen is a wonderful organization that supports children of the fallen. What it's so important about this organization is that helps the surviving parent cover extra-curricular activities which no other organization does. For us, it has been a Godsend because otherwise, it would be very difficult to afford activities that keep my child safe, occupied and learning additional skills. Thank you, Angels of America's Fallen!
It is such an honor to volunteer for Angels of America's Fallen. I've had the opportunity to hear from children who have be impacted by the sudden loss of a parent in the line of duty and in turn supported by the great work of AOAF. They provide direction and purpose to a child when they need it most and they support the families who give so much to protect our towns and country. The founders of this great organization are all heart and work tirelessly to meet the needs of every child who applies, but they need more help from great people to make that happen. I choose to support AOAF because they support those who protect us from harm and give the rest of us an opportunity to live to our fullest potential!
Being apart of Angels has been such an amazing experience. Because of their support my son has been able to travel the world with his rugby team and grow as a person in a positive way. As the only parent in the home, you don't realize sometimes how important it is to keep your child engaged in healthy activities. Angels has help support our family in times of grief not only from a financial standpoint, but also as a network of healing.
Angels of America's Fallen has made it possible for both of my kids to participate in activities they love. As my kids became teens and started to understand how much activities cost they didn't to want to try new things because they worried about how we would afford it. Angels of America's Fallen took that worry away, especially for my daughter, who did take up a new sport in high school. Without them I wouldn't have been able to do it.
Joe and Shelli are such a joy to work with! You just know their hearts are in this charity 110% and truly care about the cause. It's truly an honor and blessing to be able to participate in their events.
I have worked with Joe and Shelli, the founders of Angels of America's Fallen, closely over the past year with my work and I don't think there is a more honest and deserving cause / non-profit. Their dedication to the children in their program and their drive to assist more kids is inspiring! If you are looking for a non-profit to support, look no further. Angels of America's Fallen's mission is filling a gap many may never think needs to be filled. Thank you, Angels, for all you do and I treasure the opportunities I've had to work with you!
I can't praise Angels enough for what they did to help myself and my son after my husband passed away from a military illness. My seven year old son had never spent a night away from me when I asked Angels to help support him at an overnight YMCA camp to create more independence and healing. The opportunity that they offered allowed my son to grow in ways that were so noticeable to me after he returned from camp. He was more confident and comfortable with new situations and in his own ability to deal with them. Thank you Angels for the amazing work you do!
This is an amazing nonprofit run by an amazing couple. They are humble, hardworking, honest, and smart. You will be happy to know they are good stewards of their donations. AOAF is rated Platinum by GuideStar (their highest rating) and AOAF is certified "Transparent" by Excellence in Giving. I have been honored to be able to volunteer for them for many years.
Managing raising children after the death of a loved one is a monumental task - emotionally, physically, spiritually, and logistically. Angels of America’s Fallen allows some of that hardship to be removed. My children and I are thankful for the love and support from this organization and all those who donate to it.
Since my husband a Special Forces Army died in 2012, me and my 3 kids we been in a emotional roller coasters, grieving is been difficult and challenge but sometimes that I learn that help my kids is doing sports. Been race in Puerto Rico I always love the ocean but never has the opportunity to learn how to swim, and my husband death accidentally in the water make my fear of water stronger. Angels of American Fallen help me and the kids to trust , be hopeful, and kindness in are grieving journey. Myself and my 3 kids we been swimming for 4 years. Is an amazing sport, we can go even in winter and help the kids with concentrate. Angel of Americas Fallen take care of everything for the kids swim class, I don't has to worry. The even take the extra mile and check on the kids how they doing , if they need anything, they are amazing!
Angels of America's Fallen does incredible and powerful work to help the children of our fallen military and first responders. Instead of just throwing money at an issue, they seek ways to help the development of these children, giving them role models and an opportunity to grow through arts, sports and other extra-curriculars.
AoAF has given my children (ages 8 and 11) an opportunity to learn how to play the guitar and piano and I’m not sure this would have been something they could have pursued without AoAF’s support. I’m really grateful that they are there for us and continue to show my babies that they care for them and their futures.
Amazing people and such a wonderful cause! As a donor, I have had the honor of meeting some of the children & families sponsored by Angels of America's Fallen and you can immediately tell the impact they have with these families. The organization goes beyond expectations to do whatever they can for these families and the appreciation for what they do is evident by everyone involved. They have a great mission and come HIGHLY recommended in my book!!

As a donor and a volunteer, I have personally met several of the children AOAF supports. The positive influence from the work they do is instantly apparent by the smiles on their faces and the joy they get from participating in their chosen activities! Angels of America's Fallen is a wonderful organization and supports a very much needed cause! Thank you, AOAF, for all your hard work and dedication to the children of our fallen military and first-responders!
Angels of America's Fallen is a wonderful organization! They provided my oldest son with the opportunity to continue in Sea Cadets. They enabled my daughter the gift of being able to attend weekly tumbling classes. They currently assist my youngest son in pursuing his wish to learn to play tennis. They helped him pursue horseback riding in the past. Without this generous organization, I would not have been able to allow my children to be able to participate in these activities. This is a very worth-while cause which directly impacts children's lives. These children have suffered a devastating loss of a parent in the military. This fantastic organization helps these children so much!!
Joe and Shelly are phenomenal! They take such great care of all the families and put in ridiculous hours to make ends meet for the charity.
We were so glad to find AAF. We have a lot of military and first responders that live and work in our town and it was a perfect fit to donate to the fallen families.
This nonprofit organization is dedicated to keeping our children involved in activities they love, which happens to be a godsend for us. They encourage the children to try different types of activities until they are happy with the choice. Mine have tried Ballet on down to Taekwondo. Somehow, we have made it back to French lessons.
Unfortunately we weren't able to attend the back to school function, but they are ALWAYS hosting something fun and exciting for our children.
We are very thankful for Angels of America's Fallen for all that they do for us and every family they have under their wings.
I am intimately familiar with Angels of America's Fallen, having known Joe and Shelli Lewis as well as Mike Shiels since before its inception. They had each seen for years the gaping hole left in the hearts of children who had lost a loved one from their time in the military and wanted to help fill that void of caring, mentoring leadership left behind by the loss of a parent. Thus was born Angels of America's Fallen. I've flown with Joe, worked right alongside him, and been Joe and Shelli's neighbors. Through our time together in the Air National Guard, I came to know Mike Shiels as well and served with him on the Air National Guard staff.
They have each sacrificed deeply, and they continue to do so in order to make Angels an ongoing reality for the children of our fallen military and first responders. There are none finer in regard to integrity, compassion, energy and service to others, and I am proud to know them. Like me, you can be 100% certain that your donations will wisely be stewarded for the mission at hand. I am not only privileged to call them friends, but I am an ardent supporter of AoAF!

Angels of Americans Fallen has been such a blessing on our family. When my husband passed away, our family was left with no benefits from the VA. Trying to survive financially well just trying to survive, was an everyday high level stress situation. I could never in a million years provide swim lessons, taekwondo lessons, gymnastics lesson, and all the many things my children wanted to try. They have been able to grow as people, and work through their own grief, simply by being able to be physical. Their confidence has improved greatly, and our little family is as strong as ever. I am eternally grateful to AOAF and the support they've shown and continue to show. Thank you AOAF
Angels of Americas Fallen has always been there for my family. My son Matthew is currently in wrestling and is receiving lessons at Warrior Wrestling Club . He is preparing for the middle school season. He has been taking lessons since summer started. Warrior Wrestling Club has been amazing. The head coach at Warrior, Shad Rissler has made a huge impact on Matthew. Matthew looks forward to wrestling and has more confidence in himself. Shad treats him as a brother and demands hard work and dedication. Shad is a strong male role model that Matthew has been missing since his dad, Tom died when he was three years old. Angels of Americas Fallen has made that a possibility. I will be eternally grateful for Angels of Americas for coming into our lives.
This group does great work to support the children and families of our fallen heros when they most need it. Best of all, the vast majority of funds received go directly to the support of the kids in the program.
I had the great pleasure of sharing militarily service with the founder of Angels of America’s Fallen. From the first “pitch” of the concept of AOAF I knew this was a cause I could get behind. The children of our fallen Military and First Responders need a voice and AOAF has stepped up in an unprecedented way to bring awareness to the Fallen’s widows and orphans. Giving these kids a positive way forward while learning to cope with the many challenges of loss. It’s far too easy for these kids to feel forgotten or to lose their direction in life. AOAF helps remind them to keep their passions/dreams alive and gives them the real tools to make that happen.
Angels of America's Fallen is fantastic, their motivation to help families of our fallen is astounding. I am confident that all donations made to them go to a great cause, I only wish I could help more. Please donate if you can.
After being involved with this non-profit for 3+ years, and volunteering at many of their events, I can highly recommend Angels of America's Fallen. I've never seen an organization so fully committed to serving the children of our fallen heroes. They operate with integrity and transparency, and I feel 100% comfortable donating my time and money, knowing the kids they support will directly benefit.
The concept is a great one: support children who have lost a parent in service to our country, and support them NOW, while they are growing and developing. I've met some of the kids they serve and the joy the supported activities brings to them is undeniable.
I have been fortunate to meet children in Alabama and Colorado who have been positively affected by this program. If you are able to donate, I highly recommend this Organization. Great cause for children who have lost a parent in the service.
My family has been honored to partner with Angels of America's Fallen many times over the past several years for special events and fundraising efforts. It's a great cause, filling a real need and helping an underserved group. Its founders are truly compassionate and dedicated, trustworthy and well-organized. We have the highest praise and admiration for the work they do, and recommend them every chance we get.
As a retired member of the U.S. military that served for over 25 years, I know first hand the trauma, trials and tribulations the family of a fallen service member goes through. After the initial shock fades into the past, the reality of the loss of a parent is truly evident. The guidance, the mentoring and the positive life lessons that are provided by the surviving parent may need to be supplemented. And that is where AOAF fills the gap. By providing funding to support the passionate activities of the kids, the negative impacts of the loss of a parent can be lessened. And with positive role models and mentoring gained from the selected activities, the kids can develop into responsible, caring, and engaged adults.
Joe and Shelli Lewis are wonderful! They welcome anyone who has an idea to support their cause and offer any and all support they can imagine. I have worked several projects, for college classes, that aim at benefiting their cause and they have been extremely willing to help me as we help the children together. I would recommend this organization to anyone, especially if they are looking for a great cause to support.
Review from Guidestar
Angels of America's Fallen is an incredible organization and helps so many children and families cope after losing loved ones. The support they provide to not only the children, but the family as a whole is phenomenal! Keep up the good work!!!
I have been keeping up on what Angels of America's Fallen is doing and am amazed. The dedication and commitment to the children of our fallen from this very new but successful organization is inspiring.
This year, Girl Scout Troop #365 in Boise, Idaho teamed up with Angels of America's Fallen to earn our Bronze Award. This wonderful organization teamed us up with a special child in need of friendship and positive experiences in her life. The 11 fifth and sixth graders in this troop feel both privileged and proud to have partipated in supporting our special friend in finding happiness in her life admist so much sadness. We are thankful this organization is there to support the children of those who have given their lives for their country and to offer them a bright spot in their daily lives.

It has been an honor and a blessing to volunteer with Angels of America's Fallen. Their dedication to serving the children of our fallen heroes is an inspiration to everyone fortunate enough to be involved with them.
My daughters and I feel so fortunate to have Angels of America's Fallen in our corner. The message this organization sends to the children it serves is that they are not forgotten, that there are people out there to encourage them to pursue whatever their dreams may be. It's such a gift to have this kindness given to my children and I can't thank Shelli and Joe enough for their support. Amazing organization and outstanding people.
My wife and I have custody of a 10 year old boy, Keegan. We’ve had Keegan now for 2 years following his father’s death in March of 2012. Given all Keegan’s many issues, it’s been a mixture of joy and sorrow, ease and struggles, lot’s challenges and amazing rewarding progress. It’s always two steps up and one step back but with the help of AAF we’re making steady progress.
With our children all grown up and on their own now (the youngest of 6 is 25 years old) starting over again with Keegan has been a life changing adjustment. AAF is like a great uncle who is there to help. AAF has helped Keegan with sponsorship to summer camp last year and this coming July too. Sponsored Keegan’s membership at the YMCA and swimming lessons, and just recently helped with football registration for this coming fall.
Joe and Shelli have been great!!! Keegan is proof that AAF’s helping strategy through sports and activities that reshape young minds, build new and positive memories, and restore the child’s confidence in the community of friends and family is working.

My wife and I became guardians of a 9 year old by last year, his father was killed while on active duty on the Army. This young man has had allot of trauma in his life, abandoned by his mother, moved from state to state, school to school, it been a difficult 9 years to say the very least. One of the top priorities for us in rebuilding his shattered life is to build new memories ones that will fill his mind with happy times, a safe, stable, consistent, and loving family with great memories. AAF created the greatest time of the boys life this past summer when they sponsored him to attend a boys camp in New Hampshire for a week. Its done so much for the boy's conference, fulled him with joy and fun filled days. Administratively AAF was warm, compassionate, and easy to deal with. They took control of the situation by linking directly with the camp's administrator and took care of the arrangements. The whole event was put together is just a couple of weeks. Even after the event, Shelly and Joe still reached out to the boy sending him a welcome package (a personal letter, stickers, personalized dog tags, a cool AFF coin), welcoming him into the AFF family and letting him know his father was and is appreciated by many. They are now linked to the boy and we're looking forward to working with AAF again. Gratefully and Respectfully Submitted, Steve R, New Hampshire.
Angels of America's Fallen provides a service that the fallen military member or first responder would want to do if they were still here with their children. Once we have children our focus is almost always them. AOA does just that, provides for the children what their fallen parent would want for them. It is one of the greatest gifts we can give to anyone in this situation, the gift of love, care, positive guidance and direction. I am proud to volunteer with this organization.
The founders realized this need when serving in the military and instead of saying, we wish there was something for the kids, they took action and made it happen. They donate their time to start this organization and get it on its feet. Its volunteer base is strong and believes in what they are doing. Many children are being helped by this organization yet there are many more we need to be able to serve. Please join this great organization as its becomes strong for those that have served this GREAT NATION!
Thank you! Kristine
This organization stands firm when it comes to giving hope and showing that our families are not alone. My husband SSG Juantrea T. Bradley, was called to rest March 12, 2008. Our children have come a long way with the help of our faith and people like Joe and Shelli that care so much. They have given my children the chance to go to art camp, join the traveling lacrosse team, play flag football and my 11 year old son who has autism had music camp. All I can say is that God sends blessings right on time and I'm so glad he let them be a blessing to my children.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

AOF has been a blessing to my 4 children and lets us know others understand my husbands sacrifice along with them being survivors. My 9 year old has slept with the dogs tags they gave him along with his dads every night since getting them and wears AOF dog tags to school everyday. That is priceless! Thank you all so much!
We are so thankful for all that Angels of Americas Fallen has done for our family. They are a true blessing.
Angels of Americas Fallen has provided funding and support which has allowed my children to feel 'normal' again. They are able to develop friendships, discipline and their talents through participation in high school marching band. I am vey grateful for the recognition of the importance of these simple things in the lives of our children. What a tremendous service this organization provides for the children of the fallen.
Wonderful organization! Caring individuals and devoted Americans. Joe and Shelli are truly making a difference in so many children's' lives. A unique organization that fills the gaps on so many levels.
It is truly an honor to give to this organization! Angels of America's Fallen give whole heartedly and unselfishly to those who have endured a great loss. I truly respect that the founders of Angels of America's Fallen hold the honor of our fallen heroes so high that they have taken the task to make sure that the children are given a chance to participate in activities while also relieving some of the financial burden left to the surviving spouse. God Bless the fallen, their families, and Angels of America's Fallen.

"Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world." James 1:27. Angels of Americas Fallen is doing the work of the Lord! What an honor it is to donate to this organization! I am touched by the stories of these children who have endured such loss, and with the help from AoAF, they have been given a chance to experience a part of their childhood. I couldn't be more proud of Joe and Shelli with all of the work they're doing with AoAF!
I have to say ever since I was introduced to this organization it's been a true life saver. My husband, SPC George manis, an OIF veteran, committed suicide in 2011 and has ever changed our lives drastically. We were introduced in 2013 when they sent my two children to camp. It has not only helped me financially but helped our children flourish. I have received over the top service and would recommend it to anyone :) I can't be more grateful to have this organization come into our lives for the sake of he kids.
My husband, CH CPT Dale A Goetz, was killed August 30, 2010 along with 4 other soldiers by an IED in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Not long after, I was contacted by Joe Lewis, founder of Angels of America's Fallen. Once he learned of our loss, he immediately set out to find us and see how he and his organization could help my three boys who were left fatherless. My boys became the first recipients of Angels of Americas Fallen. They have enjoyed music lessons, swim lessons and mentoring by teachers who care thanks to the many generous donors! Most recently, our family was given a 15 passenger van for our new extended family. I remarried a widower whose wife died of breast cancer in 2011 leaving him with 7 children. We married almost one year ago and have been driving two vehicles everywhere we go together. Angels of Americas Fallen along with several other generous givers were there to support our fallen family and new extended group at the dedication in honor of Dale. I am forever grateful for these individuals whose heartbeat is to remember and serve those left behind!
Having worked for and with several branches of the military for many years, AoAF brought to my attention and I am sure many others, a need that I had never considered. The future of children that have lost a parent in service to America is something that should never be overlooked. The opportunities to help serve these children and give them a level of comfort and guidance that might not otherwise be available is crucial.
I look forward to watching the outstanding cause grow and, even more so, to seeing the leaders and outstanding citizens that I know many of the children helped by AoAF will become.
The focus of AoAF is to help these children NOW, in an influential stage of their lives. Rather than set up scholarship funds that may never apply, Angels focuses on getting the children who have suffered a critical loss involved in positive activities with good role models and family support as early as possible. The actities are chosen by the children and their families, and nearly all of the funds going into the organization are going straight to the support programs. There are not executives making six figure salaries here - just hard working and caring volunteers who give gererously of their time and effort to make the lives of these families better.
In a sea of non-profits that support admirable causes Angels of America's Fallen has zeroed in on the heart of how a charitable organization should operate. Every ounce of energy from AoAF is 100% focused on supporting kids in the best way possible during the most critical times of their lives following the ultimate trauma to a family--the loss of a parent. By providing opportunity for kids to participate in youth activities where positive role models can make a continuing positive impact AoAF is truly a blessing for many families.
AoAF seeks to meet the needs of children who have lost their most important mentor. While we can never replace the lost parent, we can certainly provide them a strong foundation to grow. The impact of this organization are readily seen in the faces of the children we serve.
The passion that this organization shows day in and day out for their mission of helping families devastated by the loss of a parent who served is amazing. It has been amazing to watch as so many opportunities have been afforded these children and the incredible stewardship of Joe and the whole team. I highly recommend partnering with Angels of America's Fallen in whatever way possible.
I have seen 1st hand how much Joe puts his time, effort and soul into this charity. His sole goal is to help the kids. Any person who takes his/her time, and forgoes being paid to ensure the kids don't go without is a an angel in my book!
Angels really fills an important gap that better-known organizations don't. They operate more "lean" and efficiently than any other group I've ever seen. They meet needs quickly and direct donations effectively to the kids they serve. This is an organization that really has earned the trust of donors like me.
The vision of Angels of America's Fallen is to walk alongside the children of our fallen when they need it most, regardless of the cause of their parent's death. Each child suffers regardless if mom or dad died in a combat zone, training accident, on the job illness, or from suicide as a result of the stress of their jobs. From the child's perspective, the impact is the same, mom or dad is no longer there. No one can ever replace their lost parent, but we can be there for them.
The solution seems to be too simple. And it is. However, the impact is life changing. I know this to be true. All you have to do is read the testimonies. Or even better meet these great kids in person. Angels of America's Fallen has provided a great way for you to be part of the solution. Consider today how you can partner with them.
Yesterday I held the Dog Tags that Angels of America's Fallen had made for each child that no longer has one of their parents with them in this life. The weight of chains dangling, the names of the children and their parent's service affiliation had an impact unlike anything I have experience to date. Honestly, it blows my mind that no one has thought to meet these children at the point of their greatest need to move past the pain, be mentored, and carry forward a tangible adventure in memory of their fallen hero. The purity of this Non-Profit cannot be expressed in written form adequately. I am proud to know the founders personally and can assure anyone your money will be well spent. God speed!
