This is such an amazing nonprofit organization! I am uplifted by these children's stories. So much courage and strength. What positive attitudes! I love watching them get their 'Shine On'!!
My son is a survivor of a medulloblastoma (brain tumor) that took over the lives of our entire family when he was 12 years old, and then re-occurred when he was 15. He is now 30 years old and is doing very well. We are all forever grateful for organizations like Angelight Films, who do so much to shower light and hope into the lives of young cancer patients, interjecting happiness in a very sad and difficult time. We are huge fans of Angelight Films, because we know how special the work they do is. Their projects are full of energy and love for these beautiful children who need "Angels" in their lives.
I believe Angelight Films is truly an amazing organization! They impact the lives of so many children who have survived brain tumors and generously work hard to make these children's dreams come true. Children who experience brain and spinal chord tumors at such a young age must be so brave and have such amazing spirits. Angelight Films gives them a chance to express themselves and "just be kids," which is so special and valuable. My boyfriend is a 2-time cancer survivor and is very involved with Angelight, and I have heard nothing but good and inspiring things about this organization. I hope it will continue to grow and make an even greater difference in the world.
Angelight Films gives a voice to children in a difficult time and gives wings to their dreams. A friend is involved in this organization. He is a survivor and involved artistically. These are wonderful people working towards a noble mission.
A friend of mine is a survivor and a filmmaker, and he has nothing but great things to say about the work that Angelight Films does for children with brain and spinal cord tumors. These children have much to say and lots to contribute, and Angelight Films gives them a vehicle to express themselves. Bravo!
Angelight Films is such an amazing organization!!!! This is such an amazing idea and way to help kids with brain tumors. It's so thoughtful and really just incredible!!!!!
I am a two time brain cancer survivor and a filmmaker. I ran into Angelight Films representatives a year ago and instantly fell in love with what they do. They very much speak my language, and they immediately let me get involved within their community as a survivor and a filmmaker. Their founder, Stephanie Angel, has a pure and true heart for Children survivors of brain and spinal chord tumors, for filmmaking, and for people in general. This organization does amazing work and greatly impacts the lives of survivors and their families. I hope they grow and impact many more.
What this organization does for these children is phenomenal. A friend of mine volunteered there in the past and shared their work with me and I was inspired to be more optimistic even on my bad days because of these kids.I have watched the films and was moved by every single one of them. They are all so special in their own way and speak to us. Keep up the good work, Angelight Films!
In October of 2013, I met with Stephanie Angel with the hopes of becoming an intern. I had recently graduated from college, and wanted to get involved with a nonprofit organization that had an important social cause with personal and long-lasting results. After my meeting with Stephanie Angel, I quickly discovered that I had found one of those rare small nonprofit organizations, which is purely dedicated to its noble cause. It is an organization that I am proud to have been a part of.
Angelight Films consists of humble people who seek to encourage the talent of brave children, who have or are undergoing a traumatic experience. Within the initial meeting with a prospective Angelight Star, the child is acknowledge as a powerful leader with a strong message to tell the world, and that their crew is merely there to help them translate their ideas into film form. Over the course of a couple of months, strong bonds are made between the child and the crew, as the Angelight Star develops valuable skills during each stage of film production. Once a film is completed, a screening is held, where the child can share their work with their family, friends, and community.
Angelight Films is a one-time experience, but it has lasting effects. The children become stronger leaders and gain communicational, organizational, and disciplinary skills that are required in film production. The friendships formed during production are permanent, as Angelight Films never looses contact with their stars and their families.
I remember when I first found out about Angelight Films through the internet and was so inspired by the kids and the films that I knew I had to be a part of it. I reached out to Stephanie and met with her and loved it even more. I have been doing work for Angelight since then and I love every aspect of it. My favorite part of the whole process is meeting the children and seeing how much they shine throughout everything. They truly are special and I can't help but smile each time I watch Stephanie bond with them and help them see their worth. Angelight Films has truly opened doors for these kids and has helped them highlight their essence. Stephanie is truly an Angel and has made a platform for all children who have a dream and want to share it with the world. I am very proud to be a part of this organization and I am very excited for the future of Angelight Films.
We first heard of Stephanie and Angelight Films at Camp Sunshine, a camp for children with life threatening illnesses and their families. When Colin was first diagnosed with a brain tumor I wanted a window into the future. I wanted to know what life would be or could be like in 2,3 ,4 years into the future. I wanted hope. I knew that Colin could give others that hope that I so desperately wanted to see. Stephanie put that hope on film. Colin is bright , beautiful, and joyful and he has a story to tell. From the minute that Colin and Stephanie met it was as if their soles had known one another all along. She guided him through the creative process of writing a story, creating a script, picking costumes and performing. The result was magical. Stephanie and her dedicated crew captured Colin in all of his essence and innocence. Together they created a gift. A gift of hope and healing through the art of film.
I could not imagine a better way to volunteer my professional skills for good. Stephanie is providing a wonderful experience to children with Angelight Films. Working with these kids inspired me and reminded me of all the wonder and joy there can be in the world.
I am Kyle’s mom and I have nothing but amazing things to say about Stephanie Angel and Angel Light Films. Angel Light Films has truly been a gift from above for us. Ever since Kyle was diagnosed with a brain tumor in June of 2008 I have felt deeply that what we were going through was going to help others. During his treatment this feeling only grew and it was when we attended a horse rehab program that I found out how Kyle would be able to express this journey. Stephanie spoke to Kyle and asked him if he wanted to make a movie. At first Kyle thought she was kidding but then realized she was serious. Stephanie gave Kyle a large drawing book and told Kyle to sketch out his how he would like his story to be told. Kyle wanted to thank everyone who helped him and show children who are newly diagnosed with a brain tumor that they can get through this and do things just like any other child can do. Stephanie gave Kyle a voice to express his journey and let the whole world hear it and that we thank her for. Many of our friends have watched these films and have told us how moved they were by Kyle and Lily’ stories. Thank you Stephanie and your crew for the amazing work you have done!
Angelight Films fulfills a very original need that has yet to be widely acknowledged among the western medicans. Nearly 100% of the time the focus of the people and professionals surrounding these sick children is on the cells and the proteins. They are handled like a kid that is sick, even when everyone tries not too. Yet unexplained, there is wisdom in these children that lends us to believe they placate to our feelings to protect us more than we do for them. Angelight finds these special children and provides them an outlet to show the world their inner light through their own filter in order that we may see what they are trying to teach us. Subtle lessons their souls pours out through their actions and daily interactions that are often left unnoticed by those that surround them. Through the medium of film and through Stephanie Angel's brilliance, the beautiful ideas of these children are scripted into films of their design and produced into magic pieces that embody the children's original intent. Very little is lost in translation from child's idea to feeling of the patron watching the film - that's the magic of Stephanie Angel - that's the magic of Angelight Films - that's the magic of these kids...
I am truly honored to be a part of Angelight Films. This organization touches so many hearts, including the families of the children involved with the organization. Stephanie is an amazing leader and role model, and we are blessed that she has shared her vision and created such an inspiring organization.
I am writing to let all of you know what an incredible experience we had with Stephanie and her organization. We first met Stephanie when she arrived at our home to meet Lily, our just turned 7 year old daughter. Lily was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor just before turning 3 years old. Stephanie asked Lily if she would like to make a movie, Lily was thrilled. Over the course of a few months, Lily wrote and directed her very own movie. The opportunity for Lily to express herself, to tell her story in a film was very empowering to her. She loved it. It was such a joyful process to witness, watching Stephanie and Lily and the crew bring it all together. Lily's film was the first for Angelight Films. We attended the first benefit for Angelight Films and were just amazed as we watched Lily's film and the next two films they made on the big screen. The entire evening was magical. Stephanie's vision, to honor her sister and bring to light the plight of these children with brain tumors is remarkable. Stephanie has given Lily a voice. She has given all of the children with brain tumors an opportunity to express themselves in any way they feel. We wish Stephanie and Angelight Films great success in the future and we thank them for giving us such a wonderful piece of our daughter which we will have forever and ever.
I think that Stephanie is doing a great job helping people.
Unfortunately, the brain tumor community is growing every day.
I know that she wants to help as many people as her possibilities allow.
I have a brain tumor, and I work as a patient coordinator, and it breaks my heart when a child is diagnosed with a tumor and the family can't afford the treatment.
I hope that she reaches her goal to help the people who really need people like her.
God bless you,
As someone who has known Stephanie Angel's Family and all that inspired her to create AngeLight Films, I was completely touched by the organization's mission and the films showcased at the launch. AngeLight is no doubt filling an important role for children with brain tumors and their families. I can only imagine the joy and creativity that is yet to come from this non profit and the youngsters it serves. Stephanie truly is an angel.
I can clearly see that Angelight Films has offered much inspiration and healing to the children with brain tumors and their families. The entire process of creating a film, start to finish was done with much compassion, sensitivity and professionalism. Clearly, Stephanie has a vision and all the people involved in helping to carry it out are extraordinary souls that really understand it. I wish Angelight Films tremendous success in moving forward, giving many more children the gift of creating their own short film!
