Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Developmentally Disabled Centers, Disabilities, Human Services

Mission: For decades, angel view's mission has been "helping children and adults with disabilities reach their maximum potential. "our clients have acquired head injuries, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, intellectual disabilities, neuromuscular deseases, and orthopedic disorders. Approximately 70% have some form of paralysis and require wheelchairs for ambulation. Because angel view exists, 100% of the coachella valley residents who need our services have them available without leaving the palm springs area; the only criterion is a qualifying disability. In 2015-2016, we will assist approximately 650 individuals with disabilites, 93% of whom are from the coachella vally, through three primary progrms: residential care, adult day program, and angel view outreach.

After taking care of my sister for almost 30 years they abandoned her at the Palm Springs hospital when she got sick. What's more as my sister recovered they blamed others and outright lied about why my sister wasn't being allowed to return home. We've come to learn that this is not the first time they've done this. After years of care that we appreciated so much it appears that the latest administration there should not be trusted.

I have been a volunteer at Angel View for 15 years – primarily designing and decorating for special events. I have been involved in many charities in the desert but I've never found any organization run as well. The staff is always ready and willing to help. Volunteers are treated with respect. I recommend Angel View services and thrift stores to everybody I meet.

You can trust Angel View with your money and you can trust them with your developmentally disabled family member. They are truly angels in the desert. Terry R.

I have lived in the desert since 2007 and almost immediately discovered the Angel View resale stores. If I am going anywhere east, I hit their store in Indio. If visiting friends in the west, I travel through Cathedral City to shop at that store, then hit the boutique and clearance stores in Palm Springs. The THREE in the Palm Desert area are my favorites though as they are close to home. Recently I became aware of one of the fundraisers they do each year. The Angel View Fashion Show models wear resale clothing that the participants can purchase! Now, if that isn't heaven on earth, I don't know what is! The best part though is the cause. This charity has been around for 60 years serving children and adults with developmental disabilities through live-in homes, a day program and an outreach that stretches from one end of the Valley to the other. Nearly a million man-hours are put into their programs each year and what they do for their clients is amazing. I urge you to read about the work they do on their website and give. Not just on GiveBig Riverside day but any day of the year.

Thanks for all that you’re doing for little Josue and his family, and for all of the other families out there in need. I checked out your 2012 990 via Guidestar and unlike a lot of charities out there, you all clearly put a lot of money to work for people in need with minimal spending on overhead and fundraising, so we will definitely be donating whenever possible.

I can honestly say that Angel View spoils me really really badly. I have done so much in these past seven years that I have never dreamed of getting to do in this lifetime. I've done more than most people and I am disabled. I can barely move my hands and feet. Life is too short to be consumed over the fact of never going to have a "normal" body and life. It's overrated. "Take every opportunity that comes your way and not look back at what might stop you..."

I spent some time volunteering at one of the boutique stores for a service learning project. I have a long history in retail management and I was very impressed with the skill and reliability of the staff in the store. They are overworked but remain motivated and determined to increase store sales through social media, and advertising. The stores are providing a service to the communities they are in as well as to the medical care homes they financially support. Low cost house hold items and clothing are available for sale. I personally shop at the thrift stores first. It is the best way for me to keep my house hold expenses down and I am supporting an organization that is providing a wonderful service. Win, win! Also, I think the organization can do a better job of connecting the homes with the stores outside of the area. If you would include them in successes in the homes, for example.."So and so was able to receive his new lift chair so he can be more independent, because of your efforts! ?Thank you!" It will keep the store staff motivated and they will have more purpose in their jobs. Give them goals like that. Something tangible they can strive for.

Most transactions are done by cash. The U.S Government needs to investigate this corporation.
I have seen first hand how this operation works. Very shady and does not provide as much as they should.
