The Angaza Project is doing amazing work. Empowering young women and girls worldwide. Girls and women’s empowerment is so crucial to the future of our world. Teaching young women to be leaders, independent and believe in themselves to make change theirs, and the lives of others. Teaching that we, women, are capable of anything we set your mind to. We all want this for our children and this is Exactly what the project is doing! I’ve assisted as an advisor for this nonprofit and am honored to be a part of it. I’ve volunteered several times in Kenya and know that this nonprofit is not only needed, but changing the minds and lives of young people in positive way. #girlpower!
I appreciate the updates, I feel like my contributions are making a difference for others in the world
I remember back to early 2013, my first time in Kenya working with young girls. Fast forward over the years, the work was being done in different projects in the community. In early 2018, a group of girls at the high school kept coming together with me on different topics, with it being time to return home, someone had to take my place to keep it going, but who. Another volunteer in the community invited me to see her toilet project so I went. There, some stranger man walked by and said hey mzungus, I have a school a few minutes walk, do you want to come see it? Considering I am in Kibera, narrow walkways, winding into a lost center somewhere, I don't know him, never seen him, SURE! Why not!? GREAT idea! (right?) So we followed him, around the corner, down a slope, hopped over a stream, more twists and turns through Kibera and sure enough we happened upon this huge school, three stories up. Unmarked. So I go in because I hear the kids laughing, having fun, etc. It is a school, there are some teachers and kids are learning. I get the tour. On the way out, I asked where the office was and who else works here so he took me up the 4 steps that led to this small office space, enclosed. Inside was a young girl sitting there working on organizing some papers and had a stack of notebooks that looked to be just turned in by the students for marking. I shook her hand and our stranger man said he had something to tend to, would be back in a few minutes and he leaves! Yes, leaves. I stand there talking with her and she invites me to her Saturday meeting with the girls she lets come in and they talk about periods and pads, responsibility or anything the girls want to talk about. I came back and brought her pads for her group. After listening to her lesson realizing SHE is what I needed to replace me while I am gone for MY children on the other side of Kibera, I invited her to meet me for dinner. She looked unsure because here I am a stranger to her. We made the plan, night, place and I waited...... she actually came! I told her all about what I am doing, connected with her doing similar work as it is so needed and asked her to take my place, pushed a contract across the table that paid her for it too. Making sure it did not hurt her current project, we set the time after that so those girls would still have their favorite person on Saturday too. Eventually some of the girls trickled over into Angaza to be with her and grew the group. There I was unsure about who would take my place to keep my babies going with important chats and God put Bri in my path and her toilet project, this stranger man's invitation that is always a no but I smiled, had some defiance against known safety measures and said YES (not sure what Bri was thinking on that one to this day) and introduced me to Michelle. Going on 5 years later, we grew space, girls, women, programs, and with that comes growing support needs too. I am so thankful to the friends and family and friends of friends and more amazing strangers that supports this work that is multiplying! It takes a village for sure.... so be part of Her Village, the monthly giving program. $5 a month or more really DOES make a difference. Did you know that $5 a month covers her meals in our feeding programme for one whole month? Yes! Join us in this important DEI work in the world!

As the Founder of The Angaza Project, I appreciate everyone's love and support for the work you are very much part of in Kenya and Mexico! You are all truly making a difference in the lives of women and young girls around the world. I also appreciate each of our partners from the High Schools in Kibera to the Universities and Colleges in the greater Nairobi area, as well as organizational partnerships where we work together for a greater reach. Each has special skills and talents and the pouring into the girls empowerment each of you has done in Kenya has been amazing! Cheers to a great year 2021!
I continue to be involved with the organization as a Board Director supporting all of the programs helping propel the girls and women forward. They are the ones who will change the community in the future, we keep working to plant. I am already seeing it, the girls that earned the Shining Brighter scholarship to University come back on breaks and volunteer in the empowerment sessions, do home visits and generate additional local support. The work is coming back to generate more change for more girls and more women in this region. I am actually seeing it. This organization is all about working together and has a great team. I encourage you to be part of the team with your support, connections and prayers! Thank you!
I am in school at University because I am a Shining Brighter. This is changing my life. I never thought I would finish High School and they helped me with the process with their friends at a University. I thank the University for their scholarship and the nice people who give to The Angaza Project that covers the other part. This is changing my future. I am speechless
I always donate to this organization each year and I can see the impact it has. They worked hard to cultivate partnerships with various higher education institutions and this creates a path forward for some of the girls to further their education from high school..... something they would not have otherwise been able to do perhaps. The folks running this organization well target partnerships that actually provide impact, they know what they are doing!
The Angaza Project is a notable and worthy nonprofit. There is nothing but pure devotion towards their shining scholars and the others involved. The time and efforts are beyond what some might comprehend, but the joy and love felt by all those involved is even more so. I am grateful that I am able to see first hand the benefits and success of the Angaza Project.

I felt impressed over a year ago to contact The Angaza Project to learn more of their cause and to see what I could do to make an impact. Since then, I have been inspired every single day through their website posts and updates regarding the project. The time and effort put into educating, empowering and preparing young women in Kenya, to enter into the world educated and ready to excel is remarkable. Having the chance to play a small part in that development has blessed my heart and family immensely. We have grown in love with this foundation and with the girls we sponsor. Every day with Angaza, is a blessing.
I really like the work that they do for teenage girls in helping them to become successful and to rise up out of their circumstances. I am particularly impressed that they have enabled a few girls to continue their studies at the University/college level. This will have a tremendous positive impact on their lives.

I have supported this organization from the start and was at the table when the final plans came together! I was over in Kenya with the Founder on a trip to experience the work being done before it became officially filed in the United States. I saw the work being done in the community that had already been happening since 2013, creating community relationships and trust and then opening up services for women. Careful planning was done on the front end to really learn the community before determining, with the community, what the needs really were. The Girls and Women's Empowerment classes are amazing, the skills classes are helping to change futures, and the education sponsorship program is a wonderful opportunity for high school girls. Up to grade 8 is taken care of by the government, however, once she hits high school, there are fees and other requirements, even at the very few government high schools that do exist, they sponsor at 7 different High Schools throughout Kibera. Rumor has it that there is amazing growth on the horizon! The work in Mexico is also something to be recognized. The support given to the Refuge for women makes a difference in the doors staying open to the ladies who make it to the steps. Often with nothing in their hands, the support Angaza provides makes it work out. Thank you for letting me be part of this great work in two locations and I look forward to more service trips in the future! Thank you!
So awesome to work with this organization! They do amazing work with the communities in Kenya and mexico
Angaza project is exactly as it says. It is all about female empowerment. I have followed them from the start and am very proud of all they have accomplished!
I love giving to this organization. I get to see the real participants receiving the benefit and it really makes an impact. Thank you to this team
Not only did I get to travel to Kenya to see the work, but I continue to support the organization! It is not just the girls in the program that are impacted, but their families. When I asked how many girls they have reached this last year and was told 167, I know each has at least another 3-6 people in their home who are also impacted by the visits, the activities, the meetings, and the topics the girls are learning. On average, this work has impacted about 835 people overall. The records these folks keep are also on point so its easy to find these calculations. This is a perfect balance of quality services and focus for the number served. It is one of the things I liked most about The Angaza Project, they don't inflate numbers and they actually care about the focused quality provided for participants. This , in turn, actually creates a greater reach in the end with a more deeper and more stable impact.
I have watched the number of girls impacted grow over the years and the work being done is impressive. Having the model of care involved in research with information coming in 2022 is also exciting to know. Keep up the good work everyone!
I truly love Angaza....Its a place that many kids call it home. This organization has been very impactful to the community around hence i would love to spend better part of my life to be part of this noble initiative.
The Angaza project is an organization that has been able to support girls within the vulnerable community through their education in high school which is the best thing someone can do to a girl coming from the slum areas of Kibera. As the girls coordinator I have seen this girls have a purpose in life again through attending school and being part of girls empowerment. It's a game changer to not only their life but their family as well.

Am a university shining brighter scholar of the Angaza project which am grateful for, for the opportunity they gave me to be able to fulfill my dream of graduating. Angaza project has been able to help and impact the lives of most girls around kibera slums in Nairobi. The girls who are benefiting see there dreams being fulfilled through education that they have been provided, a chance that they have through scholarship for highschool and through mentorship sessions they are able to believe and value themselves even more not thinking about where they come from. I have been able to volunteer and work with them, and out of ten I can rate them in terms of ethics, I give the ten. I love my time with the girls just the opportunity of being with them is precious. They are doing a good job... Like during corona we have been able to distribute food to the girl's family around kibera. Great job and hope we continue with this and help as many girls as we can thus making the world a better place.
I love this project and the help it gives to so many girls. It helps build an educational foundation for these wonderful girls and also, allows everyone involved to build lifelong relationships and goals.
I have been following the Angaza project since it began. Their mission has allowed to help girls attend school and participate in girls empowerment to learn different life skills. I love getting updates and pictures from them to see how the girls are doing. Thank you for what you do in helping the girls.

The Angaza Project is an amazing nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young girls and women. The knowledge, skills, and abilities that they gain from being a part of Angaza is essential to their health, well-being, and future. Keep up the good work!
The pandemic has hurt Kibera, but Angaza keeps us involved. I can see Teacher Michelle if I wear my mask and sit in the chair assigned. I still learn from my school books with the college girls teaching. I want to go back to school when the schools open from the corona. Thank you for still being here Angaza Project.
I get updates as a Shining Scholar Sponsor often and I receive photos of my match, even letters. The work they have done for the community through the pandemic is impressive. They did not stop, they did not disappear on the people! Thank you!
I have had an amazing experience with The Angaza project organization. I have witnessed how they empower the girls and women in their programs. They take care of their social well being, education needs as well as their hygiene needs.
I also partnered with them to offer my mentorship, training and coaching services to the girls and the women through my organization La Femme coaching.
The program structures are scheduled well and can be measured since they do follow ups with the girls from time to time
The girls empowerment really cares for us! We receive pads and have someone we can ask any questions to without being afraid of asking that stuff
The organization is very organized and prompt. The management is very accurate with information and communication.
The Angaza Project partners with and develops local leaders across cultures to positively influence girls and young women. Through education, resources, and relationships, The Angaza Project is actively changing the lives of future leaders around the world. I was personally privileged to partner with their work in Kenya by connecting the organization with their Girl's Empowerment Teacher.
The Angaza Project does wonderful work with girls in Kibera, Kenya and in Hidalgo,Mexico. In Kibera , “The Shining Scholar’s Sponsorship Program” allows and empowers these young ladies to be educated and learn a skill that will help them earn a living once they are done with school. We’ve had the privilege to sponsor Lavendar who is in her last year of school. We’ve exchanged photos and letters with her through the loving people of Angaza. This nonprofit is doing GREAT work to help and guide these vulnerable girls.
My family has been very impressed with The Angaza Project, for several reasons.
We have seen where the Angaza team has upheld their promises & have proven their integrity, as a nonprofit organization. We thoroughly enjoy getting updates from the girls, that we sponsor. The updates are very frequent & we enjoy that. We are even informed when members of the Angaza team will be going to visit & we are able to send care packages to the girls. The photos & letters from the girls, are priceless. -C. Deal
Empowering women, that’s what the Angaza Project does!! Amazing work by all the wonderful volunteers.
I have been involved with the ladies running the Angaza Project for a couple of years now. I can honestly say that each one does what they do for the girls they are serving and helping and not for any personal reasons. If you are looking to help the women empowerment movement further than your back yard, look no further! The ladies are also super transparent with everything they do.
I am sponsoring a student through the ANGAZA Project and I am well pleased with how I am kept informed about my student, how she is doing in school, and if she attends the extra life lessons offered. They are wonderful about keeping me updated on how my student is doing and when possible, letters are sent between us. They provide necessities for these girls and are genuinely concerned about how they do academically and personally. I believe the ANGAZA Project is truly instrumental in helping these girls escape from the dangers where they live and give them a chance at a successful life.
Amazing organization that brings so much help to people who are so talented and loving. They might not have much but they are great people.
I was introduced to Angaza last year by a church member who serves on their board. What a blessing it has been to my husband and myself to sponsor a young lady in Kenya, and to be given the opportunity to get to know her through letters, photos and videos. We enjoy putting together quarterly care packages which the amazing staff at the Angaza Project deliver to her personally. I never would have thought that I could make such a difference in someone's life for only $25 per month. Now our sponsored young lady has the opportunity to attend school, learn employable skills, and receive meals and supplies to sustain her. The folks at Angaza have been truly amazing to the ladies they serve and their sponsors as well!
I absolutely love what we do around the world! Serving women in Kenya and Mexico to shine through education and economic opportunities makes an impact!! I have seen, first hand, the positive impact the workshops and skills classes have for these ladies and it leads to improved quality of life! The organization is currently making relationships with companies in both locations to hire the ladies once they finish and I’m hearing about possible college level education too! Amazing teamwork with supporters and the community leaders! I am proud to be part of it
I have been with the organization since the very beginning and have watched it grow! The team of volunteers that surround the organization and support the mission are truly amazing people! Each of them has a heart for the service areas and seeing women shine through economic and education opportunities. Something so special about the board of directors (all volunteers, by the way) is that the board is extremely diverse on many levels. Diversifying the board has led to better governance. The board varies with cultural background, gender, education, and professional or life experiences. This allows the organization to better serve their clients. The board was carefully constructed over time with each member bringing different strengths to the table.
