25 Years ago I entered Anchor House for 31 days. Anchor House to me was the only place as a kid I felt safe. For the first time in my life I was able to breathe and not be afraid. I could go to sleep at night and not feel like something was going to happen. I had accountability for chores and the rules of the house which really went a long way. There was structure and caring. It gave me the chance to be a kid even if it was only for a short time. My case worker showed me so much compasion that I was able to break down walls and tell what did and was happening to me. She gave me hugs! That was a huge thing! The volunteers who came out often helped me to step away from all the drama and have fun. They would take us places or just hang out. So while we had to deal with our reality we knew that there were going to be times that we didnt have to focus on it and just enjoy ourselves. I remember while i was there I was told my great grandmother had passed and my birth mother blamed me for it. There was a volunteer who sat and hugged me and made me feel in that moment that things would be ok and that it was ok to be sad. Something I had never had before. I think of that volunteer often. Each little thing that the case workers and volunteers did for me helped to shape who I am today. Unfortunatly I was sent back to my birth family and that never got better. But because of my time at Anchor House I took what I was shown and taught and grew. Today I have a family of my own with two kids and a husband of 13 years. I cant imagine what my life would have been had they not sent me to Anchor House.

They are some of the greatest people I have ever met !!!! I have been apart of Anchor House since I was 17. I’ve had MANY MANY obstacles to overcome: the death of a parent, being homeless on multiple occasions, two pregnancies, a house fire, childhood & adult trauma, & ongoing addiction & mental illness issues & Anchor House has been there for it all. Honestly without many of their staff’s support I would be dead right now but they have refused to let me sink ! I’m so thankful to have them in my & my children’s lives & blessed to call many of them family. People like them are very hard to find. THANK YOU SOOOOO SOOOO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR LOVE & SUPPORT

I first heard of Anchor House, about 11 years ago, when my niece, Karen signed up to participate in their annual 500 mile bike ride to raise funds for Runaways and At Risk Youth. I was happy to make a contribution on her behalf. Little did anyone know that Karen would meet her future husband, Frank, and Father-in-law, also named Frank, on that first ride! They are now the proud parents and grandparent of two beautiful young girls, Colleen and Lauren. Last year, Karen's sister, Jen, joined the Anchor House Ride team and this year Jen's husband, Mike, did too! So, Anchor House holds a special place in the hearts of my family and we believe we have been abundantly blessed by our association with this wonderful organization!

The Anchor House organization truly cares about the clients it serves. The staff are invested in the lives of the children. They go above and beyond to ensure the children have all resources that are available to them. There should be more organizations that offer these types of services.

Some 30 years ago I became aware of Anchor House as mainstay in the local community. I supported the organization for many years before joining the Board. Anchor House provides a safe haven, counseling and resources for kids through young adults. The organization is socially and fiscally responsible. I'm proud to be part of this great place, who has helped countless people in need.

I first started with anchor house corporation in 2007. I lived in the TLP program as well as the apartment program. Anchor house has helped me become the women I am today. They gave me stability, taught me how to cope with my feelings and were there for me at anytime day or night. The staff there is not staff they become family and open their hearts to anyone and everyone. Without them I would be lost. They are true angels from above.

Anchor House isn't just a place where at-risk youth can sleep temporarily. Anchor House is truly a place where youth can be heard, can be taken care of, and where every situation is approached holistically, from counseling services for families to job readiness and life skills advising for teens. Anchor House doesn't just want to be a stop in a cycle of troubles, but strives to solve the root causes of issues, building a brighter and sustainable future for its clients.

I have been with Anchor House since its inception & continue to marvel at the dedication and spirit both the staff, volunteers & board members exhibit daily to help its clients traverse what is often the most trying times in their young lives. Anchor House has provided a safe-haven for literally thousands of youth for nearly four decades. Hopefully it will continue for decades to come.

I have been associated with Anchor House for more than 20 years. It is an extraordinary organization that does extremely vital work on behalf of homeless, abused, neglected, or runaway children and young adults. We operate a variety of programs and are part of the bedrock of community agencies serving the local population. Anchor House has tremendous name recognition in the local community through a 36 year plus annual week-long cycling event, sponsored by the Anchor House Foundation. For almost four decades, we have filled a need for housing, compassionate care and loving support for thousands of young people and impacted families. We are as vital today as when 1st founded, although our programs have evolved to meet ever-changing needs.

It’s an honor to be associated with an organization that provides the highest quality of care and services for underrepresented youth. It’s often forgotten that one of the most important foundations is a stable environment, and knowing that someone cares about your well-being. Anchor House has been that place for over 36 years, and the need for these services hasn’t diminished.

Even through the shifting landscape of child services, the mission for Anchor House remains intact – strengthen and support youth, their families and the community.

Initially began working with Anchor House providing branding services. Soon I was volunteering to work on their events, due to the dedication and commitment of their staff and board. The program is geared to helping young people from all backgrounds who need help in school, a place to live, a direction in life. It is most rewarding to see what they've accomplished in dealing with troubled youth. Their dedication and character building makes you want to volunteer in whatever capacity you can. We should have more "Anchor House" facilities to help our young people!

By far, this is the most amazing charity - not only because it supports some of the most vulnerable in our society - children, but because it is run and supported by the most generous and caring people there are. Anchor House's primary charity event is an annual 7-day, 500 mile (no that is not a typo) that this year raised $500k. While this is absolutely amazing is that most people who participate in this annual event have been doing it for anywhere between 10-25 years! Year after year they sacrifice their time and bodies to prepare for this ride, all while soliciting donations for Anchor House. They act as ambassadors for Anchor House all week & continue to collect money along the way. Where do the collected funds go? To provide a safe haven for children in the Trenton area, some who often say that Anchor House is the only place they feel safe. The dedicated staff at Anchor House work with these kids while they stay on-site, but also offer additional programs after they move back home or somewhere more permanent. An amazing charity that I am proud to contribute my time and energy towards.
