Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Adoption, Children & Youth

Mission: America's kids belong unites government, faith-based, business and creative communities in a coordinated and sustainable initiative to work together to end the foster care and adoption crisis in the u. S. State by state. The organization runs innovative initiatives in states to help ensure that every child is in a loving home by: recruiting more foster and adoptive families, engaging wrap-around support for at-risk, foster and adoptive families along the way, and helping youth who have aged out without a family reach their full potential.

Programs: Two signature programs of america's kids belong are the i belong project and dream makers project. Through our i belong project we gave a face and voice to 252 legally-free, waiting children by creating high quality videos of each child or sibling set. Through our dream makers project, hundreds of aging out youth were given support to launch into their future. This year we celebrated that 140 dreams were filled, 29 youth were given dream packs, 17 youth were moved into their first apartment, and 50 youth participated in holiday dinner events. In 2017 america's kids belong made an impact in all of our collaborative spheres. We held 6 government events to help build bridges to connect the resources of the community with the needs of the government and child welfare offices. We had over 150 churches and foundations engage with our work to help recruit new foster and adoptive families and provide "wrap around" support for these families. We saw a growing number of businesses, artists and influencers volunteer their time, talent and professional skills to help give children in foster care a face and a voice. All of this would not have been possible without our 409 volunteers who dedicated 3,366 hours through events, projects, and day-to-day work.
