I had the honor of going to the Philippines and Vietnam with the American Wheelchair Mission, and it was a life-changing experience. Seeing the sheer gratitude on the recipients' faces when you place them into their very own wheelchair is an emotion that breaks all boundaries of language or culture. AWM took care of all the travel arrangements between distribution sites, the hotel bookings, and meal locations, so it was a very easy trip to be a part of, and really soak in all the experiences of being somewhere new and exciting. Best of all was the reward of helping such destitute, yet humble people with the gift of a wheelchair.

Mission: The American Wheelchair Mission's goal is to deliver brand new, free wheelchairs and mobility aids to physically disabled children, teens and adults throughout the world who are without mobility or the means to acquire a wheelchair.
Target demographics: Children, teens, and adults in need of mobility but without the means to afford their own wheelchair.
Geographic areas served: Over 100 countries all over the world, with frequent shipments to Mexico, the Pilippines, Haiti, Vietnam, and the Holy Land.
Programs: Providing brand new free wheelchairs and other mobility devices to disabled persons throughout the world, with a strong focus to the needs of the America's, providing gifts of hope, dignity, freedom and independence.
