The ATA leads in promoting thyroid health and understanding thyroid biology.
Programs: *Public Awareness & Education --Patient information in English and Spanish on the web. Special e-news of latest research sent to 10,000 subscribers in the public arena. *Education --Workshops and conferences for physicians. --Clinical guidelines for physicians and patients. --Recognition of leaders in thyroidology. *Research --Funding research for young investigators. --Collaborating with thyroid cancer foundations to fund thyroid cancer research. The ATA's Annual Scientific Meeting provides the opportunity for education and exchange of information on current research discoveries and techniques relating to disorders of the thyroid gland. Clinical and basic research are presented in the form of lectures, oral presentations, and posters. The ATA programs include research and education in thyroidology. The Endowment for Thyroid Discovery generates income to support research grants and special symposia. Other donations have been dedicated to and expended for specific purposes, including research regarding thyroid disease and central nervous system dysfunction, a clinical research symposium at the Association's annual scientific meeting, and travel awards for young investigators.
