Mission: To provide support for persons affected by syringomyelia and chiari malformation through support groups, information dissemination, conducting an annual medical conference, and distributing educational materials. Also to raise funds to provide grants for medical research.
Programs: Asap works toward accomplishing its mission by providing support and education, increasing awareness, early identification of patients and understanding of symptoms, cause and management of the disorders. We accomplish this through newsletters, website, annual medical conference, support group meetings, and webinars.
asap works toward accomplishing its mission by funding research. Asaps goals include increasing public awareness of the existence of the disorder and its devastating effects financially supporting research efforts and raising funds to find all causes, to develop new treatments and to improve existing treatments coordinating the efforts of organizations working towards improving the lives of people with syringomyelia and/or chiari
I found ASAP many years ago when searching for answers about Chiari and syringo. Since then, I have attended three annual conferences and several fundraising events. This is a fantastic group of people who are dedicated to helping others and spreading awareness about chiari and syringo. They work with some of the most talented and caring doctors that chiari patients can find. I'm so happy to have made many wonderful connections over the years with ASAP.
I found the organization in 2009 when I attended a support group meeting. I was touched by the grassroots effort to bring support for those affected by Chiari and Syringomyelia. The annual conference is by far the best event for patients, caregivers and researchers to be able to mingle and discuss these conditions and the latest in treatment options. Being able to have conversations with the leading experts and to meet others with similar experiences is invaluable. ASAP just had their 35 conference and they really live their mission. ASAP is also partnering in research for these conditions. They have funded their own research as well as supported other organizations with their research funding. What is good for the community is important to the leadership at ASAP.
