Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Arts & Culture, Performing Arts Schools, Theater

Mission: American Stage Festival (ASF) was founded in 1971 under the name Playhouse 101. Playhouse 101 performed its first 3 seasons in a small parish hall. In 1974, ASF incorporated as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation and a proscenium stage theatre was built on the banks of the Souhegan River in Milford. In 1995, ASF leased the 14 Court Street facility from the City of Nashua, making it possible for the first time to house production facilities and administrative offices under one roof year-round. The Court Street facility also provides ASF with rehearsal, classroom and storage space. The American Stage Festival was established to promote and encourage an interest in and an understanding of the performing arts. To do all things necessary and incidental to the accomplishment of said purpose and to that end to establish and conduct a regional theatre and educational workshop for the performing arts.
