Causes: Technology
Mission: Asnt exists to create a safer world by promoting the profession and technologies of nondestructive testing. Asnt provides a forum for exchange of ndt technical information; ndt educational materials and programs; standards and services for the qualification and certification of ndt personnel. Asnt promotes the discipline of ndt as a profession and facilitates ndt research and technology applications.
Programs: The achievements of the organization are the publication of the journals and newsletters: materials evaluation, the technician's news, and research in nondestructive evaluation. These are delivered monthly or quarterly to over 16,000 members and subscribers. These publications discussed technical information and issues relevant to the profession of nondestructive testing.
the organization developed and sold educational materials to provide education on all facets of nondestructive testing (ndt) and established ndt personnel qualifications and certification programs. Over 27,150 books were sold and 6,800 certificates were published to 3,330 individuals. 12 publications were published in tax year 2016. 34 books are currently under development.
conference and refresher courses were held to educate and update ndt professionals on ndt and to provide a forum for an exchange of information. Two conferences with 213 papers presented, 6 topical events with 304 papers presented and 16 education courses were held serving over 2,900 ndt professionals.
membership services were provided to over 15,000 members in the united states and foreign countries. The american society for nondestructive testing bestows fellowships, faculty and scholarship awards along with lecture and honor awards to individuals and institutions making significant contributions to the advancement of nondestructive testing. The american society for nondestructive testing also participates in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (stem) activities at multiple times a year in various locations in the united states.
