The APhA Foundation has played a critical role for many years in gathering data on positive outcomes that pharmacists achieve through provision of different services. Foundation activities have facilitated growth of new services in many places in the country. IMany states (such as my home state of Alabama) have been able to use practice models that were created, facilitated, or highlighted by Foundation activities. As a reviewer of the APhA Foundation Incentive Grants I am always excited about the great potential these pharmacists and practice projects have for constantly advancing our profession.
The APhA Foundation has been telling the story of all that pharmacists do for their patients and their communities for decades . Additionally they provide financial support for exceptional student pharmacists to continue their education and pharmacists to showcase their innovative work. Their small but mighty team are excellent stewards of the contributions that are given to support their mission "to improve health by inspiring research, philanthropy and innovation that advances pharmacist patient care services".
The APhA Foundation is a leading driver of innovation in the pharmacy profession through its investment in pharmacists and student pharmacists nationwide and its commitment to research that demonstrates how pharmacists make people healthier. The Foundation’s research and solutions are paving the way for pharmacists to expand the services they provide to patients, which results in increased access to care.
My experience with the Foundation began when I was selected as a Knowlton Center Executive Resident in Association Management and Leadership. It was an incredible privilege to not only work alongside individuals driven to advance patient care, but to play a part in showcasing pharmacists and student pharmacists from across the country who align their daily work with this same aim. As the Executive Resident, a large part of my role consisted of managing APhA Foundation programs that inspire research, innovation and leadership, such as our scholarship and incentive grants programs. Watching these programs grow in scope and reach was a highlight of my experience as the APhA Foundation continues to enhance the resources and platform offered to some of the profession’s brightest future leaders. No matter where my pharmacy career may take me, thanks to the APhA Foundation, I aim to continue to be an advocate for the pharmacist’s value and impact in improving medication use and overall patient care.
The APhA Foundation has provided pivotal support for me as a student. I am beyond grateful for the Foundation for awarding me the Pharmacists Mutual Community Pharmacy Scholarship this year. Being recognized with this award was humbling but also inspiring. The APhA Foundation is giving back to everyone and I was one of those who benefitted from the great work. I felt a sense of confidence being awarded the scholarship knowing that there are pharmacists that are investing in me.
The work of the APhA Foundation goes beyond scholarships to students. I am thankful to be able to recognize other heroes as a part of the COVID-19 Heroes Campaign. This initiative by the APhA Foundation brings a light to the heroes that have been fighting since day 1. Grants and fellowships available through the Foundation recognizes the leadership and innovation of pharmacists.
Because of the work of the APhA Foundation, patients are living better and healthier lives with pharmacists at the forefront of their care.
Through its decades long research projects and recognition programs, the APhA Foundation is highly regarded for its role in promoting the impact of pharmacists in improving patient care as part of healthcare teams as well as within communities served. The APhA Foundation’s work highlights practice excellence and cultivates pharmacists through their professional journey in several ways. For early career pharmacists, the Foundation recognizes leadership and supports achievement through student pharmacist scholarships, internships, incentive grants and fellowships. For mid-career and seasoned professionals, the APhA Foundation engages with pharmacists on research activities that demonstrate improved patient health outcomes and recognizes contributions by highlighting best practices in health care quality and medication use. I was honored to be selected as the first Knowlton Center Executive Resident in Association Management and Leadership. This transformative training experience in non-profit management provided me with an opportunity to serve the profession and advance patient care while also supporting my professional journey. I’m forever grateful to the APhA Foundation for its unwavering commitment to the profession and to patients.
The APhA Foundation is the leading not for profit organization within the pharmacy industry, serving students, pharmacists, industry stakeholders, and so many others through its influential and critical work. During my pharmacy career, I've been fortunate enough to witness the impact of the APhA Foundation as both a student and graduate. As a student, I was honored to receive the Foundation's John A. Gans Scholarship Award. Receiving the scholarship served not only as validation that I was making a positive impact on the profession, but also as a financial means to become even further extended in the industry that I love. As a graduate, I was fortunate enough to be selected for the Executive Residency program in Association Management & Leadership. The 12 month program was a pivotal moment in my life, exposing me to some of the most influential groups and opportunities within pharmacy and ultimately leading me to my current career.
Though I am no longer directly involved in the APhA Foundation's work, I support the organization and firmly believe in its mission. I'm confident its groundbreaking research, philanthropic efforts, and recognition programs will continue to transform the profession of pharmacy today and into the future.
The APhA Foundation is helping me to kickstart my career as a pharmacist. Through their Executive Fellowship program, I am learning tangible and transferable skills in association management and leadership, as well as member and stakeholder engagement. APhA Foundation is an organization which cares deeply about the profession of pharmacy and patients, and they work tirelessly every day to ensure the future of patient care is bright.
Words cannot describe how grateful I am for the APhA Foundation as a recipient of the Pharmacists Mutual Community Pharmacy Scholarship this year. Over the past year, juggling my studies, mental health, and financial wellness was a challenge throughout the pandemic... on top of adjusting to a whole new virtual world. Being recognized and awarded this scholarship not only relieved a lot of my financial stress but it also brought so much needed light and confidence into my life. I cannot thank the APhA Foundation enough for finding merit in me and investing in my dream to become a pharmacist.
The work of the APhA Foundation has and continues to inspire me daily. By investing in student pharmacists, pharmacists, and patients nationwide, the APhA Foundation is carving out a better future for healthcare. The investments made by the APhA Foundation enables pharmacists and student pharmacists to innovate and be creative -- ultimately promoting the health and wellness of our patients by granting them greater access to high quality care.

I recently made my largest personal financial contribution to date to the APhA Foundation. I really believe in this organization's ability to ensure a bright future for pharmacists.
I have been a donor of the American Pharmacists Association Foundation for many years and I am thouroughly impressed by the philanthropic health related programs developed and implemented by the Foundation. In addition, the APhAF scholarship program offers an opportunity for outstanding pharmacy students to receive assistance with their financial obligation as it relates to their pharmacy studies. The APHAF Fellowship program is also a leadership development opportunity for recent pharmacy graduates.
