Mission: The ALAND was founded in 1909 as North Dakota's first voluntary health organization aimed at conquering tuberculosis the leading cause of death of that time. Today, our scope has grown to include all lung diseases - such as asthma and emphysema. We are working to provide programs designed to promote healthy lifestyles and safe environments for your lungs: Children's Asthma: Dakota Superkids Asthma Camp, Super Asthma Saturday, Open Airways for Schools; Tobacco Control & Advocacy: testifying before the Legislature on tobacco settlement issue, Freedom From Smoking(R), Tobacco Free Teens; Adult Lung Disease: Asthma In-Services, Flu & Pneumonia Campaign, Professional education; Environment: Clean Air Week, Radon Awareness activities, Indoor Air Quality, i.e., Tools for Schools.
