The American Italian Cancer Foundation (AICF) gave me the great opportunity to join UCSF as postdoctoral student. Since I started my PhD, my dream was to work as scientist in a cutting edge, competitive and high professional environment like the one that I found in the lab of Dr. David Toczyski. I have to thank the AICF to support my project during my first year and reward my exiting discoveries with renewing my fellowship for the second year. This will allow completing my project, which will be important to continue my scientific carrier. Moreover, the AICF staff is highly professional, but at the same time friendly and supportive. I strongly recommend AICF to young Italian scientists that pursue a unique professional experience in the US.

The American Italian Cancer Foundation is a terrific organization that helps young Italian scientists to move in US for early postdoctoral career. Thanks the its financial support, young graduate students have the opportunity to work in stimulating and highly competitive laboratories and under the supervision of great mentors. I think, in my case, receiving the fellowship from AICF was a particular experience: my mentor, Andrea Ventura, has been awarded few years ago by the same fellowship and he made important discoveries thanks to these funds. During these two yeas as AICF fellow, I grew up as scientist, learning how to approach new scientific stimulating questions and making exciting discoveries that hopefully will be helpful in fighting cancer. It is for me a honor to belong to the big family ‘AICF’ and being supported by the generosity of people that believe that funding research is the right way to defeat the biggest disease of our days.
The American-Italian Cancer Foundation has an important role in promoting cancer research.
Their post-doctoral fellowship program allows young motivated investigators to work on the most important and innovative cancer projects across the US. I had the privilege to receive the AICF post-doctoral fellowship. The generous support given to me by the AICF allowed me to develop my ideas and carry out my research project in the great Boston area. Every day, there are many opportunities here for me to exchange ideas and results with a very nice network of excellent scientists.

It is not easy to describe my personal experience with the American-Italian Cancer Foundation. I could use just a word to define it: unique. The AICF Fellowship provided me with the skills necessary to support my research project and allowing me to join in outstanding group at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute providing me the privilege to work and interact with worldwide collegues and an outstanding mentor such as Dr. Anderson. I`m sure that this huge chance will play a crucial role in my scientific career, helping to grow as an independent scientist, and providing an amazing opportunity for my scientific knowledge in cancer. I am deeply grateful to AICF for providing me the tools to achieve my dreams. I hope AICF will continue its outstanding mission in sponsoring young scientists to pursue their project in the United States in order to increase Italy`s scientific potential and competitiveness.
I am having a fantastic experience with The American Italian Cancer Foundation. Thanks to the AICF fellowship, I am being able to carry out my cancer research project as a postdoc at Stanford and I am having the freedom of being fully focused on my work. Furthermore, I have access to new techniques while I am being trained in a top-level environment. The selection process is based on meritocracy and they judge projects on their potential to succeed. I am really grateful to the organization because having been awarded with this fellowship gave me not only confidence in my project and my capabilities, but also gave me enthusiasm, which has helped to get exciting results in finding the role of the protein that I study in protecting against cancer formation. I particularly thank the AICF staff for being supporting, available and understanding of particular needs and issues.
Growth as a scientist requires good training in a stimulating and outstanding scientific environment and the American-Italian Cancer Foundation gave me the opportunity to learn about the latest advancements in science and technology as well as work with top scientists and researchers in the United States.
The staff is highly supportive, professional and deeply dedicated in promoting high quality research in the cancer field. I would definitely recommend this Foundation to any young scientist who truly is committed to pursue his training in a cutting edge environment.

I started my postdoctoral studies at Yale 2 years ago thanks to the American-Italian Cancer Foundation. Moving to the US has been very helpful to make progress with my research. I want to also mention that, besides funding cancer research, AICF is also providing no-cost breast cancer screening for people that do not have possibility to get one otherwise. I feel lucky and honored to be an AICF Fellow!
The American-Italian Cancer Foundation is an outstanding organization in promoting cancer research. Because of the generous support of the American-Italian Cancer Foundation I was able to make important findings on pathways that can instigate the genome rearrangements that drive cancer development.
I have found the staff to be professional, supportive, and truly dedicated to the cause of advancing scientific knowledge in cancer biology.
Thank American-Italian Cancer Foundation to make possible training of young scientist in the cancer research field.
My experience with AICF is terrific. Thanks to AICF fellowship I've the possibility to make a Postdoctoral experience in US and carry on my project. I started my post doc 2 years ago at MSKCC in New york city. I'm an italian citizen an as so working in the USA gave me the opportunity to apply for an AICF fellowship. I obtained the first one for a year and I was also able to renew it for the second year. I must say that having been awarded for 2 years with a fellowship as I moved to a new lab was an extremely helpful support for me to start up my projects, learn new techniques, initiate collaborations and getting exciting results for the genome stability field. The staff at the AICF has also be very much available and I must say tolerant in accommodating everyone needs and issues. Furthermore, I found exceptional the opportunity of been invited to Benefit Dinner & Auctions where I got meet fundraisers both american and Italian and all the AICF staff and I got to understand about a part of the work organized around the association to raise money to devolve to both Post docs fellowships, cancer research and the very admirable initiative of no-cost breast cancer screening for people that do not have access to such tool . Said so, I wish there was an American X cancer foundation for every country (X) that invests in cancer research to give the opportunity to researchers like me to ..... carry on on what we dedicated our life to!!!! I feel lucky and privileged to have been an AICF Fellow!
I had a great experience with AICF. They finance young Italian investigators working on the most promising and cutting-edge cancer research projects across the US. They also have a great breast cancer screening program to facilitate diagnosis and treatment of this type of cancer in underserved communities in NYC. The executive director is a highly energetic, personable and capable woman and so is the rest of their staff. I wish them all the best in accomplishing their goals and continuing to grow.

I have had a terrific experience with this foundation. The executive director is easily reachable for any need of information or help, as well as her colleagues. Professionally they have been unbiased in judging research for merit and their funding to research is assigned on a purely meritocratic manner. I wish that this association would grow more and more in the future years as I really appreciated their professional attitude.
