Mission: The mission of the American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association is to lead in the education, development, and expansion of American Indian and Alaska Native tourism to honor and sustain tribal traditions and values.
Target demographics: Native Nations build cultural tourism programs tourism in rural communities across the nation, including Alaska and Hawaii, that support the arts, culture and scenic beauty of their communities

Programs: • Develop educational programs to enhance and grow arts and cultural programs, • Established a scholarship program to educate the workforce needed for cultural tourism development, • Provide seed money for national and international tourism projects, • Help rural areas receive the extra media exposure and public outreach they need to attract national and international visitors to their communities, • Conduct international outreach, onsite training and participation at trade venues such as IPW (formerly International Pow Wow) and ITB Berlin, the two largest international tourism tradeshows in the world. • Develop interpretation for destinations and historic sites, like the partnership with the National Park Service and Bureau of Indian Affairs, which published "American Indians and the Civil War," a lavishly illustrated book telling the untold stories to America's history, and distributing it to national parks, Tribal Colleges and Indian schools
