Mission: The American Independent Business Alliance (AMIBA) arose from the first Independent Business Alliance in the nation in Boulder, Colorado, initially to help seed and provide resources to other communities wanting to preserve their self-determination and prevent the loss of locally-owned independent businesses through chain store proliferation. AMIBA provides the public with information about the benefit to communities provided by their independent businesses and helps organizers by providing them with resources, advice, programs, and networking them with each other to share ideas and help them be effective in their local efforts. AMIBA also links other organizations and trade associations supporting independent businesses with each other in concerted national public education campaigns.
